A key prerequisite for enabling such approaches is the development of scalable infrastructures for collecting and processing security-related datasets from IoT systems and devices. This paper introduces such a scalable and configurable data collection infrastructure for data-driven IoT security. It emphasizes the collection of (security) data from different elements of IoT systems, including individual devices and smart objects, edge nodes, IoT platforms, and entire clouds. The scalability of the introduced infrastructure stems from the integration of state of the art technologies for large scale data collection, streaming and storage, while its configurability relies on an extensible approach to modelling security data from a variety of IoT systems and devices. The approach enables the instantiation and deployment of security data collection systems over complex IoT deployments, which is a foundation for applying effective security analytics algorithms towards identifying threats, vulnerabilities and related attack patterns.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124513111","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the development of agriculture, new technology is required, and the focus is facing towards the smartest technological investment. The increasing demand for the quality and the quantity in the food sector raised the need to intensify and industrialize the agriculture sector. The current work provides empirical measurement results from an Internet of Things (IoT) platform based on remote telemetry applications for agriculture. This paper aims to demonstrate how the processing of Big Data and the concept of decentralized cloud operation can answer the demands of IoT applications in agriculture and how smart farming will help farmers operate more efficiently and more secured. The architecture is based on ADCON Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs), Software as a Service (SaaS), a Platform as a Service (PaaS) represented by Grafana and influxDB database.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114851953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Like agriculture, aquaculture has known for some years a technological revolution to meet the challenges of the industry. The development of IoT in this sector will improve its sustainability and profitability and allows to answer to the digitization. Water quality is at the heart of aquaculture and its mastery is the key to success. The integration of sensors able to measure water quality with long-range transmission opens the possibility of real-time monitoring. The generation of a large variety and a large amount of data make it possible to anticipate and predict the evolution of water parameters. The contribution of IoT for artificial intelligence therefore allows aquaculture to take the technological turn necessary for the growth of this area with an environmental sustainability vision. In this paper, we describe a feedback from the use of IoT for the real-time monitoring of water quality and the development of prediction systems in an aquaculture context.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124033475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the increasing industry adoption of semantic technologies, a number of ontologies has been defined and standardized, covering different layers of WoT. Although the best practice in data management is to use standardized ontologies as much as possible, users without prior knowledge can hardly select the standard that meets the specific needs and context. This paper provides a general review of standardized WoT ontologies and identifies their coverage of different WoT layers. Firstly, we introduce some background on WoT and ontologies; we then present two WoT architectures, an IoT-oriented one and a Web-oriented one, as evaluation criteria for ontology coverage; in the following, we introduce and analyze the representative standardized WoT ontologies based on criteria. Lastly, we summarize our work and shed light on further directions of WoT ontology development.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128952931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fact that sensors, actuators, and other agricultural devices are connected through the Internet gives us the possibility of developing interoperable solutions aligned with European standards to meet the requirements of any monitoring and control scenario. This work presents a platform that allows for the integration of sensor networks, as well as different systems responsible for the management of agricultural production. Generating, therefore, solution that provides the farmer with tools to improve decision making. The document details the 3-layer architecture, the integration with the water management model promoted by the TRAGSA Group through NGSI-LD, the integration with GIS and the deployments carried out together with the benefits they have generated.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126967825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This rapid development of IoT-oriented infrastructures comes at the cost of increased security threats through IoT-based botnet attacks. In this work, we present an IoT botnet attack detection method based on a sparsity representation framework using a reconstruction error thresholding rule for identifying malicious network traffic at the IoT edge coming from compromised IoT devices. The botnet attack detection is performed based on small-sized benign IoT network traffic data, and thus we have no prior knowledge about malicious IoT traffic data. We present our results on a real IoT-based network dataset and show the efficacy of our proposed technique against a reconstruction error-based autoencoder approach.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121415848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, companies are forced to identify new business models to ensure future growth and development, and digital transformation and digital technologies may be the key. Literature reveals clear research gaps in our understanding of how digital transformation impacts business model innovation and in understanding the role of individual digital technologies (e.g. Internet-of-Things, IoT) in developing new business models. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to understand how digital transformation and the application of IoT provide leverage to digital business models (DBM). Drawing on business models and digital transformation as theoretical lenses, we explore how digital transformation and IoT are applied as leverages for DBMs. The study identifies six pathways of how companies use IoT applications and devises in developing DBM. This paper contributes theoretically to digital transformation and business model literature in understanding the influence of IoT and digital transformation on digital business models. Furthermore, the study provides key challenges and implications for managers to consider in successful use of IoT in digital business development.","PeriodicalId":149504,"journal":{"name":"2019 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS)","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116142500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
