The performance characteristics of biodiesel as a fuel in CI engine are slightly lower than that of diesel fuel. The emission characteristics of biodiesel are better than diesel fuel except NOX emission. The thermo-physical properties of biodiesel are improved by suspending the nano metal particles in the biodiesel, which make them an observable choice for the use of nanoparticles-added fuels in CI engine. High surface area of nanoparticles that promotes higher operating pressure and heat transfer rates that further quicken the combustion process by providing better oxidation. Thus, it has been inferred that addition of nanoparticles as an additive to biodiesel fuel blends in diesel engines and its effects on performance, combustion, and emission characteristics are discussed in this chapter.","PeriodicalId":145165,"journal":{"name":"Research Anthology on Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Nanomaterials","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130688906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These were added to TSME at concentration of 50 ppm and were uniformly dispersed in the biodiesel blend with the help of a magnetic stirrer as well as an Ultrasonicator to attain stable suspension. The immersed nanoparticles in the tamarind seed oil blend exhibit multiple advantages such as an enhanced air-fuel mixing, better oxidation process, larger surface area to volume ratio results in higher brake thermal efficiency, as well as a significant reduction in smoke opacity, hydrocarbon, and carbon monoxide emissions.","PeriodicalId":145165,"journal":{"name":"Research Anthology on Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Nanomaterials","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127358259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This very peculiar method was used to analyse the other physical parameters such as strain, stress, and energy density. Values calculated from the W-H method include uniform deformation model, uniform deformation stress model, and uniform deformation energy density model. These are very useful methods to label each data point on the Williamson-Hall plot according to the index of its reflection. Particularly, the root mean square value of strain was calculated from the interplanar distance using these three models. The three models have given different strain values by reason of the anisotropic nature of the nanopartcles. The average grain size of ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles estimated from FESEM image, Scherrer's formula, and W-H analysis is relatively correlated.","PeriodicalId":145165,"journal":{"name":"Research Anthology on Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Nanomaterials","volume":"57 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123130137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ceramics nanofillers have attracted both academic and industrial interest as they can produce a significant improvement in the properties of polymers even at lower filler loadings. Recently, numerous kinds of polymeric matrices reinforced with ceramic nanoparticles have been reported. The surface-modification of ceramic nanoparticles was reported to provide extra-improvements in the thermal and mechanical properties of these materials. In addition, the type of the used ceramic nanofillers agent determines the final properties of the nanocomposites. Herein, the various effects of adding ceramic nanoparticles on the thermal, electrical, optical, and mechanical properties of polymer/ceramic nanocomposites as well as the reinforcing mechanism are discussed in general along with detailed examples drawn from the scientific literature.","PeriodicalId":145165,"journal":{"name":"Research Anthology on Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Nanomaterials","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122708437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, polymer nanocomposites have attracted huge attention both in academics and industry because they demonstrated the tremendous enhancement in material properties compared with a neat polymer or traditional micro and macro composites. Traditional composites generally require a high content (˃10%) of the inorganic fillers to bestow the desired mechanical properties. Higher filler content raises the density of the new product, thereby reducing the properties through fragile interfacial interaction among filler and the organic matrix. Furthermore, enhancing filler content makes processability very complicated. However, nanocomposites exhibit improved thermomechanical properties even with a small amount of nanoparticles (≤5%). The chapter provides information about the application of polymer nanocomposites (i.e., aerospace and automotive industries).","PeriodicalId":145165,"journal":{"name":"Research Anthology on Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Nanomaterials","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130218368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cooling and lubricating properties of different cooling and lubricating conditions were analyzed. The influence mechanism of nanofluids minimum quantity lubrication (NMQL) on cooling and lubricating effect was revealed with different nanoparticles (MoS2, CNT, ZrO2) and different volume concentrations of MoS2 nanofluids (1%, 2%, 3%). The experimental results showed that the temperature rise (258 °C) and grinding force (Fn=70 N, Ft=27 N) obtained under NMQL grinding were the closest to the flood grinding. The specific grinding energy of MoS2 nanofluids was the lowest, which was 47 J/mm3. When the volume concentration was 2%, the best cooling and lubricating effect was obtained. The surface roughness of the workpiece was the lowest (Ra = 0.283 μm; Rz = 0.424 μm).","PeriodicalId":145165,"journal":{"name":"Research Anthology on Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications of Nanomaterials","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133517648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Epoxy/AlN nanocomposite can be produced by adding AlN nanoparticals to the epoxy resin. By studying the surface discharge behavior of the nanocomposites under different operating temperature, it is helpful to improve the creeping voltage of epoxy resin. Polypropylene is a kind of material which is usually chosen to build film capacitors. The effects of voltage form on surface charge and discharge behavior were studied. Furthermore, a modification method of a polypropylene film which can suppress surface charge accumulation is proposed. Polypropylene also has great application potential in HVDC cable insulation, provided that its toughness is to be overcome. Different mass fractions of ULDPE and graphene were added to polypropylen to improve mechanical and insulating properties, respectively.
