In this paper, a high data rate OFDM baseband receiver for in-vehicle PLC is presented. Suffered harsh multipath vehicle power line effect, impulse noise and 25 p.p.m. sampling clock offset (SCO),the whole receiver is proposed to recover the signal with less-complexity-based design. Functional simulation shows system performance of the proposed receiver, and the logic design, for circuit implementation, of each function block are also presented. The required gate-count is around 595k under TSMC 90 nm technology, and complexity has 9.77 % saved-ratio comparing with direct implementation.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114439492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This scheme is an integrated communication scheme of IVC(inter-vehicle communication) and RVC with basestations at intersections. In conventional research, the performance analysis of this scheme is carried out by traffic and communication simulation, but the computational complexity of communication simulations is much larger than that of traffic simulations. For the reduction of the complexity, we derive the transmission success ratio and the required bandwidth theoretically and evaluate the performance using a traffic simulation and the derived theory. The performance comparison between this evaluation without communication simulations and the evaluation using both traffic and communication simulations shows that the performance evaluation of this scheme's RVC can be carried out without communication simulations. Moreover, we derive the optimum transmission frequency that minimizes the required bandwidth. As a result, the required bandwidth can be reduced by half under the same traffic situation.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115090972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For noncoherent block-coded MPSK over continuous channels, rotating signal points of an entire codeword, such that the first symbol is the same as the last symbol of previously transmitted codeword and thus can be omitted, increase bandwidth efficiency. This method is called generalized differential encoding. Since noncoherent block-coded QAM/TAPSK proposed before cannot be applied to generalized differential encoding, in this paper, we modify the definition of noncoherent block-coded QAM/TAPSK and the bit labeling of signal points. Simulations of various examples of noncoherent block-coded QAM/TAPSK with generalized differential encoding are made and discussed as well. We find that if the block length is very small than 8, NBC-16TAPSK performs better than NBC-16QAM due to its large minimum noncoherent distance. However, if the block is longer than 8, NBC-16QAM has better error performance because the codewords with small noncoherent distances are rare.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123577524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meanwhile, as the development of advanced cellular technologies, more than one component carrier (CC) can be jointly utilized in a base station (BS). As a result, the energy consumption of the BS has become an important concern. In this study, we thus propose a novel efficient power-saving scheme for the BS transmission to address the problem of the power minimization at BS transceiver subject to certain quality-of-service and fairness requirements for users. For this scheme, it is able to dynamically activate/deactivate CCs to utilize only the necessary power to enable energy-efficient data transmissions with the efficient control of the user fairness. In our model, activities in downlink data transmissions of a BS with multiple OFDMA-based CCs are considered, while concurrently supporting different types of users. Numerical results show that the total power consumption of our proposed scheme is significantly better than that of the case in which all CCs are always active when the traffic load is relatively light.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116876876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This configuration is an OFDM-based system, so it still has to cope with the issue of frequency synchronization. In this paper, a pilotaided estimation technique is developed for the compensation of frequency offset in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) channel environments. The proposed synchronization algorithm utilizes the correlation between two identical halves of a training sequence after the appropriate choice of coarse compensation. As a result, the estimation method indeed has the potentials to further enhance the mean square error (MSE) performance compared with the other conventional schemes. Some simulation results are given to illustrate the advantages of the proposed frequency offset estimation scheme for vehicular communications.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"268 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125819857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we characterize the delay profile of an Ethernet cross-traffic network statically loaded with one of the ITU-T network models and a larger Ethernet inline traffic loaded with uniformly-sized packets. We also propose an iterative sample-mode packet delay variation (PDV) filter and use numerical simulations in OPNET to illustrate the performance of the filter in the networks.
