In ad-hoc network, multi-hop communication is used and source node constructs routes to destination. Applications of ad-hoc network are inter-vehicle communication and sensor network and so on. Among them, wireless sensor network is attractive in an emergency such as disasters. In this application, one of the problems is congestion for increasing of traffic of the urgent and medical data packets on wireless communication routes. It is a problem to be solved to guarantee quality of service in ad-hoc network in an emergency. In this paper, we pay attention to congestion and propose the protocol to improve transmission delay for ad-hoc network in an emergency. The main routes (the shortest routes) are constructed by using a proactive routing protocol, OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing)[1], in this paper because of this premise, the network topology is no change and heavy traffic. And, the alternative routes are constructed by using a reactive routing protocol, AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector)[2], when a node receive a control packet of congestion acknowledge from congestion node. Therefore, it is avoided to overlap of main routes and reduce delay and packet loss. Additionally, data packets are given priority level and the low priority packet uses the alternative route. As a result, the high priority packet such as the urgent and medical data is transmitted low delay and packet loss. We evaluate transmission delay by congestion to preparing conventional protocol OLSR.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122084950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we discuss some potential issues that could affect the performance of TCP traffic in a multi-homed architecture. In addition, we propose a protocol to improve the performance of sending a single TCP connection over multiple wireless links on a MR. Our protocol consists of three components. First, we use a reordering buffer to eliminate unnecessary retransmission caused by out-of-order packets. Second, we develop a Multi-homed Split Connection mechanism to enable the TCP connection to quickly adapt to the conditions of multiple links when packet loss occurs. Finally, a Scheduled Window-based Transmission Control algorithm is proposed to mitigate the negative effects of out-of-order packets in the case of using heterogeneous links in a multi-homed environment. We evaluate the performance of our protocol by comparing it with the Concurrent Multi-path Transfer SCTP (CMT-SCTP) and show that it can resolve several performance issues.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132879954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in practice link traffic counts are not sufficient to provide desirable turning proportion estimates at an intersection due to the underdetermined problem and it needs to further consider other auxiliary data sources to improve the estimation accuracy. Based on a traffic flow model, a nonlinear least squares estimate model is proposed to integrate link flow information from vehicle detectors (VDs) and partial turning flow information from video sensors to solve the turning proportion estimation problem. Using the simulation tool, DYNASMART-P, as a test platform, the test results indicate that heterogeneous data resources are better than single source, and this framework has potentials to feedback to an on/off-line adaptive traffic signal control.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115623781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, travel time is predicted by a single data source, such as vehicle detectors (VD) or probing vehicles (PV). In this paper, we try to predict travel time by integrating these two data sources by a dynamic weighted fusion scheme. The weights of the data sources are dynamically determined by the distance weight scheme to enhance the prediction precision. The proposed TTP model is applied to a small traffic network located in the east and north district of Tainan City, Taiwan. VD data is provided by traffic bureau of Tainan city government and probing vehicles raw data is collected from a Taxi dispatching system. The experiment results show that dynamic weighted combination of these two data sources can enhance the precision of the TTP, and the prediction stability of the proposed model is better than both the single source TTP models (VD or PV).","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115265450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the advances in vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) technology, a green driving suggestion system is proposed to minimize the carbon emission by enhancing the intersection throughputs and providing drivers the best-economic driving suggestions. The idea of this work is to let the signal controllers (with built-in RSU) broadcast the signal countdown message and waiting queue information to the vehicles nearby the intersection, extending the range of drivers' visual contact to the signal. With these information, on-board unit (OBU) can determine the best economic driving speed and provide drivers' suggestions while maintaining the max throughput within a cycle time. The goal of this work is to demonstrate the advantages of reducing vehicles fuel consumption as well as CO2 emission by minimizing the unnecessary acceleration, brakes and stops. Simulation results vividly shows that CO2 emission can be reduced by 4 percent to 20 percent under different vehicle per hour (vph) cases following the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130329904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When a mesh node fails, one can simply replace it with a new mesh node. Due to unpredictable changes of environment, the connectivity WMNs and the reliability of individual mesh node decreased rapidly. The connectivity disruptions are often to introducing delay or even worse dropping messages. Ideally, a failed mesh node should be repaired or replaced immediately to maintain the connectivity of WMN. However, this might be difficult to achieve due to the environment (e.g., bridges or tunnels) and limited resources. It is desirable to have a failure-resilient wireless mesh network that can temporarily withstand one or multiple failed mesh nodes until they can be taken care of. In this paper, we proposed a hybrid mesh network, called Resilient Mesh Network (RMN), that can effectively retain the coverage and capacity of the original network until the failed mesh nodes can be repaired or replaced.","PeriodicalId":143706,"journal":{"name":"2012 12th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications","volume":"85 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130779748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
