The aim is to reveal the meaning of the Barangan choreography in relation to the Lengger, a traditional Bayumas dance. The research was conducted by applying qualitative research methods with descriptive analysis methods based on the theoretical framework of dance semiotics. Research shows that the contemporary Barangan dance is a metaphor that represents the wider panorama of Banyumas culture. Seen in this way, the lengger in the Barangan choreography is a kind of metonymy of the minor folk arts, which is always confronted with the arts of the city or the arts of the dignitaries and aristocrats. When it was adopted as a contemporary dance piece in Barangan, the Legger dance was transformed into a kind of symbol of resistance and struggle.Keyword: Contemporary Dance; Barangan; Othniel Tasman; Lengger; Dance SemioticAbstrakArtikel ini membahas tentang karya tari kontemporer berjudul Barangan, yang disusun oleh Otniel Tasman, salah seorang koreografer tari kontemporer Indonesia asal Banyumas yang berbasis di Surakarta. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengungkapkan makna dari karya koreografi Barangan tersebut dalam kaitannya dengan lengger, sebuah tari tradisional Bayumas. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menerapkan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif yang berpijak pada kerangka teoretik semiotika tari. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tari kontemporer Barangan adalah metafora yang mewakili panorama kebudayaan Banyumas secara luas. Dilihat dengan cara ini, maka lengger dalam koreografi Barangan adalah semacam metonimi dari kesenian rakyat kecil, yang senantiasa berhadapan dengan kesenian kota atau kesenian para pembesar dan bangsawan. The goal is to describe the concept of its presentation. With a qualitative approach, observations were made on the practice of presenting Gandang Sarunai in Nagari Luak Kapau, South Solok, by departing from an ethnomusicological understanding. Research shows that the presentation of Gandang Sarunai has several unique features, namely: combining elements of rhythm with elements of melody; the position of the player in the presentation, with two players facing each other playing the same double; and the playing system, which begins with the gandang palalu rhythm pattern, followed by the gandang paningkah, and also followed by the Sarunai instrument which plays non-rhythmically with a free melody and is not bound by the grooves of the gandang rhythm pattern.Keywords: presentation; traditional percussion; Gandang Sarunai; South SolokAbstrakTulisan ini membahas tentang Gandang Sarunai, sebuah jenis kesenian perkusi tradisional di Solok Selatan. Tujuannya untuk menguraikan perihal konsep penyajian dari kesenian tersebut. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif, pengamatan dilakukan terhadap praktik penyajian Gandang Sarunai di nagari Luak Kapau, Solok Selatan, dengan berangkat dari pemahaman etnomusikologi. One of them is located in Nagari Andaleh Baruh Bukit, Sungayang District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. This paper describes the role of women in the Dikia Baruda performance, which aims to analyze the function of the Dikia Baruda performance in Nagari Andaleh Baruh Bukit, Sungayang District, and see the community's view of the participation of women in the Dikia Baruda show. Applying qualitative methods with descriptive analysis, and supported by function theory, research shows that Dikia Baruda in addition to functioning as a medium of entertainment, emotional expression, aesthetic pleasure, means of communication, in order to maintain sustainability, stability, and community integrity is also used as a medium of friendship in establishing relationships. kinship between family, relatives and fellow members of the community.Keywords: Women, Performer, Dikia Baruda, Nagari Andaleh Baruh BukitAbstrakDikia Baruda adalah salah satu kesenian tradisional yang bernuansa Islam yang hidup dan berkembang hampir di seluruh wilayah Minangkabau. Salah satunya terdapat di Nagari Andaleh Baruh Bukit, Kecamatan Sungayang, Kabupaten Tanah Datar, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Tulisan ini mendeskripsikan peranan kaum perempuan dalam pertunjukan Dikia Baruda, yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis fungsi pertunjukan Dikia Baruda di Nagari Andaleh Baruh Bukit, Kecamatan Sungayang, serta melihat pandangan masyarakat terhadap keikutsertaan kaum perempuan dalam petunjukan Dikia Baruda tersebut. This study aims to discuss the shift in the pattern of the Bagurau Saluang Dendang performances carried out by the Communita Pagurau and the Lapau Community. The approach taken in this study uses the theory of creativity related to the commodification of performances. This study uses an ethnographic method, where this method is carried out by participant observation. In addition, ethnography is also a method of writing. The findings in this study are that the Bagurau Saluang Dendang in the Communita Pagurau and the Lapau Community experienced a shift which was divided into several things, namely material, musicians, performance venue, management, audience, rules, time and interaction.Keywords: Bagurau; Saluang Dendang; Communita Pagurau, Lapau Community; Performance Pattern ShiftPertunjukan Bagurau Saluang Dendang yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah Bagurau Saluang Dendang dalam communita pagurau dan Komunitas Lapau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas pergeseran pola pertunjukan Bagurau Saluang Dendang yang dilakukan oleh Communita Pagurau dan Komunitas Lapau. Pendekatan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori kreativitas yang terkait dengan komodifikasi pertunjukan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi, dimana metode ini dilakukan dengan observasi partisipan. Selain itu etnografi juga sekaligus sebagai metode penulisan. This spell was practiced in order to summon tiger in a ritual management in Gauang village, Kubung sub-district, Solok district. It’s different from common spells, Marindu Harimau spell was uttered through singing performed by spell speaker called as Tukang Parindu. Method used in this research was ethnomusicology research method that involved two ways of research namely: first was fieldwork, in order to obtain the raw data of a music culture through observation, interview, and data documentation; second was desk work involving the data transcription, description, and analysis of Marindu Harimau spell song. Several theoretical concepts were used to analyze several points of problems such as ritual concept, literary theory, and music style theory. The result of this research is that Marindu Harimau spell song uses many metaphors in the arrangement of its spell text. While from the aspect of its musical style, Marindu Harimau spell song uses short tones at the end of its phrase. Tari ini merupakan tari yang dilakukan pada upacara Begawai masyarakat Talang Mamak Upacara Begawai adalah upacara perkawinan. Tari Kain berasal dari gerak yang berasal dari fenomena dan kejadian alam kemudian dibentuk menjadi sebuah gerak baku yang tidak boleh dirubah ataupun diganti di dalam upacara Begawai tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana bentuk tari Kain dalam upacara Begawai. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan untuk membedah fenomena tari Kain ini adalah teori struktural dari Levi Strauss, teori semiotik Roland barthes.Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa tari Kain merupakan tari untuk pengesahan perkawinan bagi masyarakat Talang Mamak, seandainya pada upacara perkawinan tidak dilaksanakan tari Kain maka perkawinan dianggap tidak sah secara adat. Dalam gerak-gerak tari Kain mengandung simbol-simbol dan makna-makna tertentu yang terkait dengan kepercayaan masyarakat Talang Mamak. Dengan demikian penelitian ini diberi judul Makna tari kain dalam upacara Begawai pada masyarakat Talang Jerinjing kecamatan Rengat Barat Kabupaten Inderagiri Hulu Provinsi Riau.Kata kunci: Tari Kain, Upacara Begawai, Makna, dan Inderagiri Hulu. ABSTRACTKain dance is a traditional dance that is present in the community in the village Talang Talang Mamak Jerinjing Inderagiri Hulu district of Riau province , which is danced by two men . This dance is a ritual dance performed in public Begawai Talang Mamak Begawai ceremony is the marriage ceremony . Cain dance derived from the motion derived from natural phenomena and events then formed into a raw motion should not be changed or replaced in the Begawai ceremony . The purpose of this study was to determine how the dance form fabrics in Begawai ceremony . The method used is qualitative method . The theory is used to dissect this phenomenon Kain dance is a structural theory of Levi Strauss , Roland Barthes' semiotic theory . The findings from this study is that Cain dance is a dance for the public endorsement for the Talang Mamak marriage , if the marriage ceremony was not held dance Cain then marriage is considered invalid by custom . In the dance movements of fabrics containing symbols and meanings associated with a particular public trust Talang Mamak . Kesenian Gambang hadir karena terjadinya perpaduan dengan berbagai kebudayaan dari luar tradisi Minangkabau yaitu pengaruh kebudayaan Tiongkok. Kesenian Gambang pada awalnya adalah kesenian penghibur oleh sebagian masyarakat keturunan Cina atau disebut etnis Tionghoa yang ada di Kota Padang. Dalam tulisan ini dibahas tentang budaya apa saja yang mempengaruhi kesenian Gambang tersebut serta simbol dan bentuk komunikasi seperti apa yang teramati dalam kesenian tersebut. Pertunjukan kesenian Gambang juga dijadikan sebagai media interaksi sosial bagi masyarakat Kampung Pondok. Interaksi sosial dalam bentuk kerjasama, persaingan, pertikaian, dan akomodasi. Kajian kesenian Gambang Sebagai media interaksi simbolis dan non simbolis juga terdapat didalam pertunjukannya. Kesenian Gambang juga dijadikan sebagai media komunikasi intrapersonal bagi masyarakat Kampung Pondok untuk proses berfikir melahirkan ide-ide dalam berkreativitas, lain halnya dengan komunikasi interpersonal yang merupakan komunikasi antara individu dengan individu, dan komunikasi antar kelompok, serta sebagai media komunikasi antarbudaya. Selanjutnya untuk menyatakan bagaimana bentuk dan analisis musik dari kesenian Gambang di Kampung Pondok penulis menggunakan berbagai metode dalam mengungkap, menganalisa data sesuai dengan prosedur dan dengan teknik pengolahan. Metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini serta transriptif analisis musik yang dibantu dengan wawancara dari berbagai pihak yang berkompeten dalam kelompok kesenian Gambang diharapkan mampu menjelaskan bagaimana bentuk dan fungsi pertunjukan Gambang sebagai media interaksi secara detail. dengan memakai disiplin kajian etnomusikologi sebagai teori utama, juga memakai pendekatan antropologi dan sosiologi sebagai teori pendukung. Adapun teori yang dipakai adalah teori fungsi, difusi, akulturasi dan analisis musik. Setelah melakukan penelitian maka dapat dijelaskan hasil temuan dari tesis ini. Pendekonstruksian pola-pola tertentu (tradisi) kepada keseragaman, standarisasi, pencitraan, kapitalisme, kreatifitas dan inovasi seniman. Secara praktis hal tersebut sebagai bentuk kreativitas dan inovasi seniman dalam berkarya, baik kaitan pengembangan ataupun pelestarian seni budaya Melayu. Musik Zapin sebagai budaya populer memiliki estetika posmodern, di antaranya: Parodi, pastiche, parodi, kitsch, camp, dan skizofrenia. Pertunjukan musik Zapin mengalami pergeseran nilai-nilai keteradisiannya (konsep estetika tradisi) ke estetika modern bahkan posmodern. Pergeseran tersebut oleh karena perubahan sosial masyarakat Kota Pekanbaru. Keterbukaan dan homogenitasan, baik etnis dan budaya menciptakaan keterbukaan ruang bagi pertunjukan musik Zapin untuk beradaptasi dengan ruang dan kebutuhan masyarakatnya. Oleh sebab itu, pertunjukan musik Zapin sebagai budaya populer (estetika profan). Kata Kunci: Komodifikasi, Budaya Populer, Musik Zapin, dan Kota Pekanbaru  ABSTRACT Music Zapin in Pekanbaru as popular culture is a phenomenon of shifting concept, form, function, aesthetics and meaning to community supporters. Pendekonstruksian certain patterns (traditions to uniformity, standardization, imaging, capitalism, creativity and innovation of artists. Practically it is a form of creativity and innovation in the work of artists, both regard the development or preservation of Malay culture and art. Zapin music as popular culture has a postmodern aesthetic, including: parody, pastiche, parody, kitsch, camp, and schizophrenia. Zapin music performances shifting values keteradisiannya (traditional aesthetic concept ) to the modern aesthetic and even postmodern. The shift is due to social change Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif analisis yaitu mencoba mendeskripsikan aspek-aspek pertunjukan tari Andun dan menganalisis upacara adat Nundang padi sesuai dengan prosesi pelaksanaanya. Upacara adat Nundang padi ini dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat Desa Selali setiap lima tahun sekali, kegiatan upacara ini merupakan ritus kesuburan untuk pembenihan padi, yang didalamnya terkandung aspek spiritual yang mencerminkan semangat kebersamaan dan kegotong-royongan masyarakat Desa Selali dalam melakukkan aktifitasnya bertani.Tari Andun adalah tari tradisional masyarakat Bengkulu selatan, tari ini didalam upacara adat Nundang padi sebagai rangkaian dari upacara adat. Tari Andun ditampilkan pada hari pertama dan hari ketiga, hari pertama berfungsi sebagai hiburan diitarikan oleh masyarakat selali, selanjutnya hari ketiga ditarikan oleh remaja dan berfunggsi sebagai kesuburan. Kata kunci: Tari Andun, Nundang padi. ABSTRACTThis paper, discusses the ceremonial dance Andun Nundang rice in Pino Raya village Selali District of South Bengkulu. This study is a descriptive analysis that tries to describe aspects of dance perpormance and tries to describe aspects of dance performance and analyze Andun ceremonial procession Nundang rice according to the implementation. The traditional ceremony was conducted by Nundang rice of fertility for rice seeding, in which there are spiritual aspects that reflect the spirit of togedherness and community Selali vilage in conducting farming activities.Dance is a traditional dance community Andun south Bengkulu, this dance Nundang rice in traditional ceremonies as  a series of traditional ceremonies.
