Here an analysis object, i.e. a cracked structure, is decomposed into two domains, i.e. the one with a crack and the other without crack, both of which are analyzed separately. The size of the cracked domain is smaller, whereas the other domain is much larger. Fracture mechanics analysis is performed only in the small domain. To satisfy both geometric compatibility and force equilibrium on the boundary of the two domains, the two domains are analyzed repeatedly till getting convergence using some iterative solution technique. A benchmark analysis was performed to validate the method and to evaluate computational performance. The computed stress intensity factors were as accurate as those obtained using a conventional FEM and theoretical solution, while computational performance was comparable.","PeriodicalId":140736,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE)","volume":"312 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134011358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since traditional binary decision diagrams is only used to analyze static fault tree, the sequential binary decision diagrams is extended to analyze dynamic fault tree without Markov method in this paper. The main advantage of the proposed method is that its computational efficiency is higher than the Markov method. The effectiveness of the sequential binary decision diagrams for satellite system with cold-standby components is verified by using practical calculation example.","PeriodicalId":140736,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117066026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the warranty, the replacement service is considered as well as the repair service for a failed product as warranty services and the PM service is scheduled for system's quality and reliability in the warranty period. If a failed product could not be repaired by the threshold time limit in the warranty service center, the replacement service is provided instead of continuing to provide repair service in the model and using Jung and Park's maintenance model, the maintenance policy is investigated with a preventive replacement service during the warranty period [1]. In this study, an optimal maintenance policy is proposed considering two-factor warranty to find the optimized preventive maintenance interval in terms of an expected cost rate. Free replacement/repair warranty and pro-rata warranty are also considered in the paper. The real application is implemented using the proposed approach by field data and numerical examples are discussed to exemplify the applicability of the methodologies derived in this paper.","PeriodicalId":140736,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117109666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The primary damage mode of a drilling riser is fatigue failure due to oscillatory environmental loads. Riser fatigue is sensitive to varieties of uncertainties, such as structural loads and material properties. It is vital to evaluate the fatigue failure using probabilistic approach. This paper focuses on dynamic fatigue reliability of deepwater drilling riser under random waves together-with drilling platform motion. Several parameters that contribute meaningfully to the uncertainty of riser fatigue are firstly considered. A sensitivity study is then conducted to identify critical random variables. It is found that S-N parameter A, response amplitude operator (RAO) of drilling platform and Palmgren-Miner's index Δ have a pronounced influence on the uncertainty of fatigue damage in splash zone. Subsequently, dynamic reliability analysis model for wave-loading fatigue is established in the form of second-order polynomial. Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) is used for solving the established model. In the calculations, fatigue reliability at different service time can be determined.","PeriodicalId":140736,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering (QR2MSE)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127190788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
