Symptoms may vary among individuals ranging from mild to severe because of its erratic pattern of remission and flare. SLE is a systemic disease that has the tendency to influence multiple organs of the body like lungs, brain, heart, and blood, etc. which is also one of the most important reasons for SLE-mediated mortality in young and old age groups, apart from renal complications and various infections. Because SLE is an autoimmune ailment, the formation of autoantibodies is considered to be the main cause of multiple organ system effects and systemic inflammation. The presence of hyperactive B cells produces autoantibodies in combination with the removal of apoptotic cellular material, resulting in immune complex formation. This leads to an inflammatory reaction in the microvasculature – causing multi-organ complications. In this review article, the main focus is on the complications of SLE among which renal disorder is one of the most life-threatening complications. Apart from this, cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal and hepatic, muscular, osteoarticular and pregnancy complications have also been discussed. It has been concluded that timely identification and targeted therapy to manage these patients is the only solution.

According to WHO, interprofessional collaboration occurs when multiple healthcare workers from different professional backgrounds work together to provide comprehensive services by working with patients, their families, caregivers, and communities to deliver the highest quality of care across settings [1]. Evidence suggests that collaborative care delivered by a team of health care providers who have experienced interprofessional education (IPE) during their course of training provide cost-effective, person-centered care, and increase patients’ satisfaction due to effective teamwork, and better communication among different health professionals [2]. Considering the primary health care services for the elderly population, a team of diverse health professionals providing well-coordinated care play a critical role in the elderly daily functioning and well-being. There is growing evidence that health care providers trained to work inter-professionally find themselves prepared to contribute as effective members of the collaborative primary health care team.

But this rise in utilization did not translate into substantially lower maternal and neonatal mortality rates.\u0000OBJECTIVE: To determine the time of initiating antenatal care and assess the effect of time of initiation of antenatal care (ANC) on the content of care received and factors associated with the time of initiating care.\u0000METHODS: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study conducted from September 2020 to December 2020. The study population included all women who delivered at the hospital. The time of the first antenatal visit and content of care received by the woman was assessed. The primary outcome variable was the time of the first antenatal visit. Secondary measures included the content of care received by women. \u0000RESULTS: Of the 1388 women included, only 160 (11.5%) had their first visit before 14 weeks of pregnancy. When stratified according to time of visit, blood pressure measurement (p=0.021), weight measurement (p= 0.011), urine testing (p=0.015) and iron and folic acid supplementation (p=0.013) were significantly greater for women who started care within three months. Women who were older (p˂0.001) and had delivered before (p=0.001) were more likely to access antenatal care earlier. Similarly, women with some education (p ˂0.001) and higher monthly income (p=0.003) started visits sooner than those who were uneducated and had lesser income. On the multivariable model, lower age, being nulliparous, no formal education and lower income were determinants of late booking.\u0000CONCLUSION: The prevalence of early initiation of antenatal care was very low. The content of care received by women who presented early was also significantly different from those who presented late. Older age, previous birth; education and monthly income were determinants of early antenatal care visits. Awareness programs for early initiation of antenatal care need to be implemented.

The incidence may be higher in countries where consanguinity is high, suggesting an autosomal recessive gene as a risk factor. Advances in surgical expertise has improved outcome of simple and complex heart diseases. Early diagnosis and referral to centers caring for such babies is an important contributory factor to a better outcome. This review focuses on early diagnosis of congenital heart disease in neonates and children by Health Care Physicians (General and Family Physicians) and Pediatricians. Careful neonatal and pediatric cardiovascular examination, screening pulse oximetry on all newborns before hospital discharge and an early post natal follow up are important to diagnose CHD.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicide has notably increased, particularly in developing countries as individuals face tremendous economic loss and fear of poverty.\u0000Aims: To assess post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) screening, diagnostic, referral, and management practices of general practitioners in Karachi, Pakistan along with one-time attitudes regarding the same. \u0000Methods: 151 general physicians, from three tertiary care hospitals and several private clinics participated in this survey, in Karachi from 2017-2019. Data was collected via an adapted and pretested questionnaire. The number of general practitioners adhering to good screening, diagnostic, and referral practices has been reported along with one-time attitudes regarding PTSD management in GP care.\u0000Results: The response rate for the survey was 64% and the mean age of the participants was 38 (±10) years. 70% of physicians showed interest in mental health however, only 30% reported having any previous formal training in the subject. Good practices regarding PTSD included screening trauma patients for PTSD (57%), using DSM-5 criteria for diagnosing PTSD (13%), screening PTSD patients for risk of suicide, and prescribing SSRIs and referrals as part of management (64%, 34% respectively). It was seen that these practices differed significantly among males, females, graduates, postgraduates, and those who had formal training in mental health. The majority of the physicians (95%) are of the attitude that patients should be screened for PTSD following a recent traumatic event.\u0000Conclusion: Overall practices of general physicians in Karachi are lacking in skills concerning common mental health issues like PTSD. A positive attitude should be taken advantage of, and further skills enhancement should be considered as the next step for improvement of our general practice to decrease mental health-related morbidity.
