Nonetheless, there has been little data on publication trends and performance evaluation from the Middle East region, including from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). \u0000\u0000Objective: This study analysed KSA’s hypertension-related research output over the last two decades (2001-2020). \u0000\u0000Methods: The Web of Science (WoS) platform was primarily used to extract HTN-related data, and then scientometric analysis was done utilizing the "R-Bibliometrix' package. An extensive array of indicators was studied to determine the quality and quantity of HTN-related publications from KSA.\u0000\u0000Results: A total of 3129 research publications from 1274 sources were extracted using WoS over 20 years (2001-2020). Most of the documents (2617) were articles. After 2012, there was a substantial increase in research articles, which peaked in 2020. Among 21343 total authors from 131 countries, two authors had > 40 publications and five had > 2500 total citations. King Saud University (KSU) was the major contributing affiliation, followed by King Abdulaziz University (KAU). Saudi Medical Journal (SMJ) was the leading and most consistent source, while Hypertension, blood pressure, and Saudi Arabia were the most frequently used keywords. \u0000\u0000Conclusion: Our study provides an in-depth overview of hypertension-related research productivity from KSA. Some characteristic trends were observed regarding contributions by top authors, productivity, impact, international collaborations, and organizational affiliations. Related stakeholders can find the study findings very useful in precisely interpreting trends and performance of hypertension-related regional work.

They appear more frequently in men than in women. Several theories had been suggested to explain this phenomenon with the "Dental Lamina Hyperactivity Theory" to be the most accepted. Supernumerary molars (distomolars) are usually impacted. They can be associated with complications or stay asymptomatic. \u0000Objective: This study aimed to analyze the prevalence and characteristics of distomolar teeth among dental patients reported to the Radiology Department Dental Section Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta.\u0000Methods: This descriptive retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in Dental Radiology Department. Data were obtained from digital panoramic radiographs of patients who reported to the Radiology Department Dental Section in Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta from 1st January 2019 till 31st December 2019. \u0000Results: Among 500 panoramic radiographs 6 (0.012%) distomolars were noted, 4 (0.8%) were detected in maxilla 1 (0.2%) in mandible and 1 (0.2%) recorded in both jaws. 5 (1%) were noted impacted and only 1 (0.2%) was erupted. Morphologically 5 (1%) maxillary distomolars were tuberculated and 1(0.2%) mandibular distomolar was conical in shape.\u0000Conclusion: Even though the frequency of distomolars is low, the dental practitioner should always be aware of the presence of distomolars in radiographs or clinically.

It is through social practices, convictions and the people’s decisions that individuals choose to be focused on polygamy ways of life. Various factors contribute to the polygamy issue, many studies have been done on this theme by various researchers around the world. \u0000Objective:\u0000To highlight the prevalence and associated factors of polygamous marriages among men in Pakistan.\u0000Methods:\u0000The current study analyzes the secondary data of PDHS (Pakistan Demographic & Health Survey). This survey was done in Pakistan from 22-November-2017 to 30-April-2018 in collaboration with USAID (United State Agency for International Development), ICF (International Coach Federation), and NIPS (National the Institute of Population Studies). The study selected cases of 3145 men, which were married once or more than once and other factors from obtained data to find any association among different factors. Software SPSS version 22 was used for data analysis. Logistic regression was applied to see the associated risk factors.\u0000Results:\u0000Data were retrieved from 3145 men but a complete analysis was done on 3070 men (remaining were excluded due to missing data issues). The average age among men was 32 ± 8.6 years. Majority belonged to rural area (n=55.5%), with high standard education (n=55.4%), high wealth status (n=55.6%), and desire for more children (n=1636, 53. 3%). Among participants child mortality issues were reported in (n=1602, 52.2%) and had their workplace close to home (n=1656, 53.9%). Out of 3070, 51.8% were polygamous. On multivariate analysis, the factors age, residence, education, wealth, desire for more children, child mortality issue and work status were found to be independent predictors of polygamy.\u0000As we were studying polygamy determinants, work away from home, the desire for more children, wealth status and child mortality were found significant.\u0000Conclusion:\u0000Using the PDHS data, we have found that the prevalence of polygamy was 51.8%. However, different socio-demographic factors affecting it showed significance like wealth index, husband work away & husband desire for more children positively contributing polygamous marriages in Pakistani society.

Furthermore, gender has been recognized as a major predictor of COVID-19 illness, with males having a larger proportion of severe COVID-19 disease than females. Some biological markers in the host have also been discovered as putative COVID-19 infection indicators. The kind of markers have recently been discovered as a major determinant for COVID-19 infection among these parameters.\u0000Objective: To detect if COVID-19 infection is associated with blood type with respect to age and gender.\u0000Methods: It was a case-control study that took place at COVID ICU of Hussain Lakhni Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan from Jun 2021 to Dec 2021. Cases (n=511) were individuals ranging in age from 15 to 80 years old, of either gender, who had COVID-19 infection confirmed by a real-time PCR test. Healthy people (n=511) served as controls. Data on age, gender, weight, height, BMI, residence, educational status, socio-economic status, comorbid and ABO blood type of patients were collected. The data were analyzed using statistical software SPSS version 23.\u0000Results: The mean age of the subjects was 54.01±11.16 years, 57% were males and 43% were females. COVID-19 infection was 2.84 times higher in people with blood type A (OR=2.84, 95% CI=1.68-4.79) and 2.19 times higher in people with blood group B (OR=2.19, 95% CI=1.29-3.72, p=0.003) than in people with blood group O. In age group≥50 years, the odds of COVID-19 infection were 1.88 times higher in individuals with blood type B as compared to blood group O (aOR=1.88, 95% CI=1.01-3.52). Among females, the odds of COVID-19 infection were 2.51 folds higher in individuals with blood type A as compared to blood group O (aOR=2.51, 95% CI=1.05-6.05). On the multivariable model, no association of blood group with COVID-19 was observed for sub-group of age <50 years and male gender.\u0000Conclusion: Individuals with blood group A have higher liability to acquire COVID-19 than blood group O. In older age, the chances of getting COVID-19 are more in blood type B, and in females, the chances of getting COVID-19 are higher in blood type A.

The liver abscess (LA) is a space-occupying lesion in the liver parenchyma filled with pus caused by bacteria, parasites, or fungus. \u0000\u0000Objective: To determine the clinical manifestations and etiology of liver abscess among children presenting at a tertiary care hospital.\u0000\u0000Methodology: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the medical department of the National Institute of Child Health, Karachi, Pakistan from July 2022 to December 2022. A total of 147 children of either gender aged below 12 years with liver abscesses were analyzed. At the time of enrollment, demographic features, clinical features, characteristics, and etiological agents of LA. The cause of the liver abscess was confirmed by pus culture, blood culture, and indirect haemagglutination assay (IHA). Aspiration was performed among cases who had LA>5cm and liquefication of abscess. \u0000\u0000Results: Of a total of 147 children with LA, 96 (65.3%) were boys. The mean age was 7.08±2.61 years. Socioeconomic status of 112 (76.2%) children was poor. In terms of frequency of presenting features/complaints, pyrexia (100%) and abdominal pain (98.6%) were the most commonly found whereas hepatomegaly (98%) and right hypochondrium tenderness (97.3%) were the commonest signs. The right hepatic lobe was involved in 120 (81.6%) LA cases and the majority of LA were solitary (93.2%). The size of the liver in 57 (38.8%) LA cases was between 3-6 cm while 93 (63.3%) cases were aspirated. The etiological diagnosis revealed that bacterial involvement was found in 36 (24.5%) LA cases while amoebic presence was noted in 75 (51.0%) cases. No cases of fungal involvement were found.\u0000\u0000Conclusion: A predominance of male gender and low socioeconomic status was found among children with LA presenting at a tertiary care hospital in Karachi, Pakistan.
