The technological parameters which affect the gold nanoparticle formation on the membrane (namely the concentration of the HAuCh solution, the ratio of curing agent, the incubation time and the temperature) were investigated, the resulting nanoparticle films were characterized with optical spectrophotometry. The possibility to utilize the nanocomposite membranes as sensing elements in plasmonics sensors (based on localised surface plasmon resonance — LSPR) and as surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates is discussed in detail.","PeriodicalId":138347,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 23rd International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134223817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The designed module is capable to operate with various line coding schemes such are: NRZ (non-return-to-zero), RZ (return-to-zero), AMI (alternate mark inversion) and Manchester (phase encoding). During extensive simulations and practical measurements it was revealed that the maximum data communication speed achieved by the designed system is around 1 Mb/s, when the signal-to-noise ratio is maintained above 10 dB. The enhanced implementation of the proposed encoder, based on synchronized line-codes, offers good performances regarding the resistance to perturbations as well as an improved spectral shaping and clock recovering capabilities for obtaining efficient internal data transmission systems for vehicles.","PeriodicalId":138347,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 23rd International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME)","volume":"54 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120843712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hearing of conventional emergency signals becomes harder, as a consequence. In 2012, the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 60 accidents involving emergency vehicles travelling with the specific signals in use in which at least one person died. Not being able to hear the sirens in a crossroad could lead to accidents with serious consequences. A siren detector could also help the hearing-impaired drivers. Siren detection is not a new topic, but most solutions use very complex digital signal processing techniques which have great demands in processing power. This is reflected in the high price. The paper presents an improved cost-effective microcontroller based siren detection system which decreases the needed processing power using analog electronics. The detailed system and the simulation results are illustrated and discussed in the paper.","PeriodicalId":138347,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 23rd International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128435656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to different noise sources which affect the eye images captured with an infrared video camera, a large noise component is overlapped on the signals provided by the pupil detection algorithms. This noise component determines cursor instability on the user screen, which makes difficult the eye tracker operation. In order to increase the cursor stability on the user screen, different techniques based on real-time filtering, high frequency spikes cancelling from the signals provided by the PDA and the snap-to-point technique can be used. The experimental results performed with the improved version of the PDA confirm the significant increase of the eye tracker system performances.","PeriodicalId":138347,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 23rd International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114762760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we propose a novel position sensor implemented with a blue fluorescent optical fiber and a spectrometer. The novelty and advantage of the proposed solution is that it performs sensing at only one fiber end. Side-illumination of the fiber generates fluorescence with 3 spectral peaks. For distances up to 40 cm, fluorescence intensity varies with the distance between the spectrometer and the incidence point. For distances larger than 40 cm, axial application of incident light via fiber bending changes the fluorescence spectrum. Accordingly, the position of the incident light source is determined by joint monitoring of the fluorescence wavelength and intensity.","PeriodicalId":138347,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE 23rd International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128193816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
