Sadlier”. Her narratives are set against the cultural landscape of The Great Potato Famine (1845-1849) and depict the existence of Irish female transients of the 19 th Century, which we contend is as yet understudied and overlooked in the educational curve on works of writing on the Irish female character. This is notwithstanding how authentic archives point out how the Irish female characters assisted with causing p rogressive acknowledgment of the Irish female outsiders’ presence. We hypothesise that the abstract portrayals of the Irish female migrants can be examined in The Irish Girl in America by Sadlier by zeroing how they accomplish advantaged stances as untouchables from inside the local host area. By utilising a hermeneutic, textual analysis, we centre around the author’s portrayals of the encounters of the slow arousing of the Irish female heroes by using “the stance hypothesis” by Sandra Harding (1986). Conse quently, this study investigates the awareness for a self-definition through specific and aggregate degrees of accomplishing a “standpoint” experienced by the Irish female protagonists. Our findings uncover how the Irish female migrant characters can perform advantaged points of view and acknowledgment in their new local area.","PeriodicalId":13768,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141671780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Floods, like Malaysia, are frequent natural disasters in most parts of the world. This natural disaster related to weather in Malaysia has two major types (i) flash flood and (ii) monsoon flood. The monsoon rains also caused flooding in other parts of Malaysia e.g. in Johor, Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah, and Sarawak, forcing hundreds to evacuate. Floods hit the state of Pahang every year, causing significant loss to the socio-economic of vulnerable stakeholders living in flood-prone areas. This study conducts a systematic literature review on vulnerability towards flood events and the use of GIS applications by previous researchers for flood mapping from 2009 to 2019. Two main concepts were applied during the literature search and review phase to explore the dimension of vulnerability and to analyse the GIS technique in flood studies of Pahang State. To date, there are only six studies related to the preferred criteria of this review. Vulnerability studies done in the past ten years focused on the dimension of socio-economic rather than the geophysical dimension. Only two studies applied GIS techniques for flood vulnerability mapping in Pahang. Thus, to create a local vulnerability map, the socioeconomic vulnerability assessment findings are integrated with the flood area's geographic data, which are essential and motivation for further study. It has a guideline for policymakers to prepare and manage natural disasters, especially in the flood-prone area.","PeriodicalId":13768,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":" 23","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141671729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to assess trends and offer recommendations for enhancing E-government effectiveness and impact in the sub-region. It emphasizes the significance of studying E-government in the region to address governance challenges, promote socio-economic development, and empower citizens. The analysis of EGDI scores reveals that Cape Verde, Ghana, Liberia, and Nigeria demonstrate higher readiness for e-government initiatives, while other countries lag. Comparison of Global Average EGDI scores across the surveys shows overall progress with fluctuations in few surveys. In each of the surveys, West African countries generally fall below the Global Average, indicating a wide gap in E-government development in the sub-region. Leveraging E-government can foster inclusive growth, transparency, and citizen empowerment. However, challenges persist, requiring investment in ICT infrastructure, digital literacy, and governance processes. Future research could explore other regions and develop frameworks for enhancing EGDI components of OSI, TII, and HCI in West African countries.","PeriodicalId":13768,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":" 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141672508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Providing access to tertiary education for inmates not only equips them with valuable knowledge and skills but also instills a sense of purpose and hope for the future. Education can serve as a catalyst for personal growth, self-improvement, and the development of positive attitudes and behaviors. A sample of 37 respondents from a total of 83 prisoners-students are involved in this study. Factor analysis was utilised to identify if student attribute, social influence and financial aid influenced prison inmates’ decision to pursue Open University Malaysia’s programmes in prisons. Results of the multiple linear regression indicated that there was a significant effect between student attributes and decision to study, which means that inmates' own characteristics will motivate them to continue learning which can lead to future success in their pursuit for excellence in tertiary education. The significant effect found between student attributes and the decision to study underscores the importance of individual characteristics in motivating inmates to engage in educational programmes. This understanding can help tailor educational initiatives to better meet the diverse needs and motivations of incarcerated individuals, ultimately enhancing their chances of successful reintegration into society upon release. As human influencers (HIs) and virtual influencers (VIs) exist, understanding why individuals follow HIs or VIs is crucial. Methods: Literature on followers’ motivations were found in Scopus and CNKI databases, and the sample was collected manually. Data extraction and summarization followed search, screen, select, critical appraisal, and thematic analysis, using the Modified PRISMA 2020 flow diagram and MMAT tool as guides. Findings: Twenty-one articles were reviewed, revealing seven motivations for following both HIs and VIs. The followers of HIs are primarily driven by meeting their own needs, while those following VIs are often motivated by curiosity about the identity of the VIs, their operators, and underlying technology. Conclusion: Current research explores followership motivation for HIs, with a limited focus on VIs. Population aging is the global population trend development. For a considerable duration, it will remain a fundamental characteristic of China. The issue of ageing is no longer a problem that the elderly and their families need to face. However, this is not only a problem or difficulty that individuals may tackle alone, but rather a matter that requires the collective engagement of the entire society. Communities across the world and specifically China are experiencing major difficulties in the transition in the medical-care-integrated aged care model. This study aims to examine the existing literature on the implementation and effectiveness of the medical-care-integrated aged care model in both China and other countries.
