This growing rate represents an epidemic that requires immediate attention. Oral Semaglutide is a semaglutide compound with an absorption enhancer, a sodium N- (8 - [2-hydroxybenzoyl] amino) caprylate (SNAC). The mechanism of action simply produces Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) as a food-based digestive hormone that acts as an appetite signal, stimulates insulin release, inhibits glucagon production, and regulates diarrhea. This article shows the correlation of GLP-1 association with motivation to feed and Semaglutide’s anorectic effect and relation to cravings. We have performed complete searches from PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, Medline, Medscape, and Wiley online library from 2015 to 2022. The trial data (SUSTAIN, PIONEER, STEP) suggested a major decrease in weight and HbA 1c. SELECT trial data showed cardiovascular safety of semaglutide over other anti-diabetic drugs. This review article summarized semaglutide trial data as an anti-obesity drug and compared the effects of semaglutide (oral and subcutaneous) with other GLP-1 analogs.","PeriodicalId":13749,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES AND RESEARCH","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84502167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Migraine is one of the common neurological diseases and it is characterized by throbbing unilateral headache attacks. Migraine is an issue for both individuals and society. Migraine can lead to reduced work productivity and a flawed family and social life. It has been suggested that melatonin plays a key therapeutic role in treating migraines and several other types of headaches. Early and exact diagnosis is essential in enhancing treatment and in preventing progression. This review aimed to evaluate the available evidence related to the efficacy and safety of melatonin in the prophylaxis and prevention of migraine. Research in regard the administration of melatonin found it safe in migraine patients, with few or no side effects. This review concluded that Melatonin can be considered a safe integrative prophylactic treatment for children, adults and menstrual-related migraines, thus improving outcomes related to patient’s quality of life and patient-centered care. However, further studies and evaluation is required to confirm its effects.This review aimed to evaluate the available evidence related to the efficacy and safety of melatonin in migraine prophylaxis. Melatonin and migraine have been linked in a majority of ways, from mechanisms to treatment. Melatonin is an endogenous hormone and is secreted by the pineal gland. It plays an important role in regulating circadian rhythm and the sleep-wake cycle. It has been proposed for migraine prevention due to its anti-inflammatory effects against calcitonin gene-related peptides and other pro-inflammatory mediators in vitro, and its pro-regulatory effect on the circadian rhythm. Also, low melatonin levels have been reported in serum and urine due to hypothalamic dysfunction in patients with migraine. Hence, in this article, we review those papers describing the results of the administration of melatonin in humans for therapeutic purposes in treating migraines.This narrative literature review was based on studies on Melatonin's effectiveness, safety and tolerability for the prophylactic and preventive treatment of migraine in children and adolescents and menstruating women. The literature search was conducted using the Google Scholar and PubMed database and included articles published up to December 2021, utilizing the keywords: “melatonin”, “migraine”, “melatonin and migraine”, and “prophylaxis of migraine”. Observational studies, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), case reports and systematic reviews were included. The articles focusing on the latest medication for preventing migraines were also reviewed.","PeriodicalId":13749,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES AND RESEARCH","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81626415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This leads to an unbalanced waste of time and money and nightmares during drug development because the drug works well in animals or pre-clinical models and therefore fails in clinical studies or clinical trials, or vice versa. In this technique, machine and deep learning (M and D) is a subset of artificial intelligence. We hope this will eliminate the need for lengthy searches, reduce the number of animals sacrificed in the strategy, and reduce the cost and time required for testing. We recognize that full replacement of animals in toxicological or pre-clinical studies and tests remains a challenge - we acknowledge M and D learning-based animal toxicity prediction can be the key.","PeriodicalId":13749,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES AND RESEARCH","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78252423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of malaria parasite causes a persistent liver stage where the liver suffers the action of the hypnozoites, a form of the P. vivax that is very relevant at this stage of the infection and causes relapse of the disease and continued transmission. This literature review discusses an innovative treatment for malaria with tafenoquine (TQ), an 8-aminoquinoline synthetic primaquine analog that has been used in one dose for malaria relapse prevention and for prophylaxis due to its longer half-life, and its effects on the human body. Besides the use of tafenoquine, it was also necessary to discuss the Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, and the interaction of this enzyme with the 8-aminoquinolines, since both drugs may induce hemolytic anemia in patients with G6PD deficiency; therefore, the test to this deficiency is necessary before putting those patients under treatment with these drugs. The use of other drugs combined with tafenoquine was also reported. The drugs Primaquine, chloroquine, and other analogs, such as artemisinin and hybrids, were discussed in this article, along with their combined use and their greater or lesser help in the treatment.","PeriodicalId":13749,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES AND RESEARCH","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82308087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The excessive and repetitive use of drugs has led the body to develop resistance to their curative effects. Many authors have focused on the study of the therapeutic properties of essential oils in order to provide new remedies. They are used as a source of bioactive molecules of natural origin. Objective: The objective of this work is to contribute to the valorization of medicinal and aromatic plants of the Ivorian flora. We propose to determine the chemical composition and to evaluate the antioxidant activity by spectrophotometry of the essential oil. Materials and Methods: The plant material consists of the leafy twigs of C. odorata. The technical of steam distillation using a four-compartment stainless steel device was used to extract the essential oil from the plant matrix. The analysis of the essential oils was carried out on a GC chromatograph (7890A, Agilent Technologies) coupled to a mass spectrometer (5975C, Agilent Technologies). The antioxidant potential of the extracts was evaluated using the Blois method. Results:  The essential oil obtained by steaming, with an aromatic odor and pale green color has a yield of (0.082 ± 0.004) %. Analysis of the chromatogram and mass spectra identified 24 phytocompounds (99.92%). The phytochemical composition is dominated by hydrocarbon sesquiterpenes (44.21%) followed by hydrocarbon monoterpenes (29.48%) and other compounds (26.23%). The major compound are α-pinene (17.79%), 6-propen-1-enylbicyclo [3.1.0] and hexan-2-one (14.95%) . Conclusion: The essential oil extract of  C. odorata exhibits low antioxidant activity compared to vitamin C.","PeriodicalId":13749,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF APPLIED PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES AND RESEARCH","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75798093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Humans use numerous plants and plant-derived products to cure and relieve various physical and mental illnesses. These plants are used in traditional Chinese, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Tibetan medicines. Ancient literature such as Rigveda, Yajurveda, Atharvaveda, CharakSamhita, and Sushrut Samhita also describes the use of plants for the treatment of various health problems. In recent times, the focus on plant research has increased worldwide, and a large body of evidence has been collected to show the immense potential of medicinal plants used in various traditional systems.Materials and Methods: The present study was carried out to evaluate the hepatoprotective activity of ethanolic extract of Cnidoscolus Phyllacanthus(ECP) leaves against D-galactosamine induced liver damage in Wistar rats. Hepatotoxicity was induced by D-Galactosamine (270 mg/kg body weight) administered intraperitoneally (i.p.) on the 14th day of a total two-week experiment. In contrast, the extract of the investigated plant was given orally throughout the whole experiment at 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight. Silymarin (100 mg/kg body weight) was given orally as a standard hepatoprotective drug.Results and Discussion: Histological studies showed that 400 mg/kg CP attenuated hepatocellular necrosis in d-GalN intoxicated rats.
