Three identical phase shifters are implemented in a control-loop circuit within a stochastic-cooling system to generate very thin, high precision heavy-ion beams. The loop design requests wide-angle phase range, wide frequency band, and controllable phase constant with frequency. Precision ion beams are very promising for research in particle physics and may be used in the future for cancer treatment also.","PeriodicalId":132112,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE - Russia Conference. 1999 High Power Microwave Electronics: Measurements, Identification, Applications. On simple examples, the obtained results for deriving any of the possible matrices of parameters is shown. The outcomes of the work essentially simplify deriving of the matrices of parameters, since any matrix of parameters of reduced to linear systems can be primarily obtained from any other by using the same formula. The outcomes can be used in any areas, where models of this kind of matrix parameter are used, and particularly, in tasks of linear circuit analysis, and as a basis for building up the theory of nonlinear systems without memory-\"reduced to linear\" systems.","PeriodicalId":132112,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE - Russia Conference. 1999 High Power Microwave Electronics: Measurements, Identification, Applications. Our objective in the present work was to investigate experimentally and theoretically the spectrum of the microwave transition 37P-37S in sodium Rydberg atoms in a weak static electric field and to perform accurate measurements of the scalar and tensor polarizabilities of the 37P level. Knowledge of polarizabilities is required to find a magnitude of energy level shifts in atom by known static electric fields. The Na S and P states possess large quantum defects (1.347 and 0.854, respectively), so that a quadratic Stark effect in weak fields is characteristic for these levels.","PeriodicalId":132112,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE - Russia Conference. 1999 High Power Microwave Electronics: Measurements, Identification, Applications. A large number of work is devoted to this problem but it is still remained actual. It is connected with fact that the classical theory of broadband matching of Bode-Fano-Youla do not permit to take into account a lot of restrictions which are met at practical application of radioelectronic devices. Moreover, this theory generally yields suboptimal results and it is applied only for relatively simple load structure. However, the analytic theory is fundamental importance for understanding matching problems. The main numerical methods are considered in the present work. A brief description of operation and comparative characteristics are given.","PeriodicalId":132112,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the IEEE - Russia Conference. 1999 High Power Microwave Electronics: Measurements, Identification, Applications.
