Abstract
This paper describes design and performance of a broadband-wideangle phase shifter developed for a special application. Three identical phase shifters are implemented in a control-loop circuit within a stochastic-cooling system to generate very thin, high precision heavy-ion beams. The loop design requests wide-angle phase range, wide frequency band, and controllable phase constant with frequency. Precision ion beams are very promising for research in particle physics and may be used in the future for cancer treatment also.
