One of these is a new implementation which incorporates a quarter-wave line at both the balanced and unbalanced ports. As a result, the practical operating range of the Marchand balun is expanded without compromising on its inherent compact physical realization. Graphs of the element values of the second and third types have been prepared to simplify the design of the balun for a wide range of load resistance and bandwidth combinations.","PeriodicalId":128931,"journal":{"name":"1979 9th European Microwave Conference","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124969872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a coupler can be integrated with other planar circuits to form a variety of components useful in advanced high-resolution systems.","PeriodicalId":128931,"journal":{"name":"1979 9th European Microwave Conference","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128636183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The progress recently accomplished in the development of bipolar si transistors with a maximum oscillation frequency greater than 12 GHz enables us to consider the realization of bipolar transistor sources and VCO for X band. The author described the realization of an original 10 GHz miniaturized bipolar VCO with a particular low frequency noise level (less than 90 dB at 50 KHz from the carrier in a 1 Hz bandwidth). The performances of this device are enumerated and compared to those of more traditional devices : Gunn oscillators and FET - AsGa oscillators.","PeriodicalId":128931,"journal":{"name":"1979 9th European Microwave Conference","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125985591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These restrictions can be overcome by injection of a small amount of power at the respective harmonics. The experimental verification of this method has been performed with an unique lumped element circuit. By injection of the third harmonic fundamental power and efficiency could almost be doubled. At 1,7 GHz a peak power of 230 Wwith a total efficiency of 46% has been achieved. The maximum gain (from the third to the first harmonic) was 23 dB. The good symmetry of the output spectrum indicates high phase and amplitude stability.","PeriodicalId":128931,"journal":{"name":"1979 9th European Microwave Conference","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131524990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
