It receives a task from a human operator, and must perform the given task in the environment including a lot of obstacles such as human bodies and other robots. Therefore the mobile robot must perform given tasks and path planning by itself. In this paper we discuss an intelligent tracking control of navigating a mobile robot in an unknown environment. Through suggested intelligent control, a mobile robot is able to perform minimization of the distance to the moving goal by online motion planning from actual sensor data. Simulation shows the effectiveness of accurate tracking capability and the robust performance of proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Although optical encoders or resolvers are used to provide the position information, these sensors are expensive. Moreover, in the high-speed region, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth out of the preset value, which is caused by the sampling period of the microprocessor. In this paper, a low cost linear encoder suitable for the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and also the control algorithm to generate switching signals using a simple digital logic is presented. The validity of the proposed linear encoder with a proper logic controller is verified from the experiments.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Under conditions of zero-mean, wide-sense stationary and white Gaussian noise, it is shown that this paper analyzes the convergence characteristics of the IMADF with a fractionally-spaced equalizer (FSE). In the experimental results, the convergence characteristics of the IMADF algorithm is almost same as the sign algorithm, but is better than the MADF algorithm. Here, this algorithm has useful characteristics when the correlation of the input signal is high.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. But it is not easy to develop and implement speech recognition system in a small machine. For that reason, the authors have developed a PC-independent speech recognition system using a digital signal processor (DSP). They performed experimental speech recognition tests for some ordinary words. To test the online performance of the system, they developed a program that would detect environmental noise and the endpoint of speech in real time. In experiments, they used 10/sup th/ order cepstrum coefficients and log-scaled energy as the feature vectors and the discrete hidden Markov model (DHMM) as the recognition tool. For the experiment, they selected 5 speeches of 5 males per model for training.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Most of the established torque control methods implemented with pre-measured or pre-analyzed data, such as phase currents, rotor position and torque. The established methods require hard efforts and time for the repetitious measurement and analysis. Therefore, this paper suggests the torque control method that is possible to control the SRM directly without the various data. The proposed control method uses the real-time estimated torque that is based on the linearized mechanical work operation (LMWO). To verify the accuracy of the estimated torque by the LMWO, the estimated torque compares with the calculated torque by finite element method (FEM). From the experiment the effectiveness of the proposed torque control method has been confirmed. From these simulation and experiment results, it's known that the proposed torque control can be effectively used without performance data.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. The hybrid converter is capable of annihilating current harmonics in the power system, while it functions as an AC to DC converter for a medium or large power rating DC load. In eliminating the harmonics with the proposed topology, the harmonic currents are divided into the converter and the passive filter, and a major portion of harmonics flows through the passive filter. Thus, the harmonic current load of the active switch is significantly reduced, and the harmonic elimination and the DC-link voltage regulation can be performed without using any additional major hardware nor increasing the current rating of the converter. The feasibility of the proposed hybrid PWM converter is confirmed by simulation.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. The knowledge base of product domain and inference engine is implemented by JESS (Java expert system shell) and Java servlet. The system gathers the user's requirements on a particular product by questioning the user and consulting its knowledge base to find the items that best meet the user's requirement. For the recommender system, the design of product knowledge base are discussed. Since the output DC capacitors of the proposed scheme have the ability to keep at a floating state, the DC capacitors do not discharge even in the case of a short-circuit of a DC load. The output DC power of the proposed converter can be disconnected from the load within several hundred microseconds at the instant of short-circuit fault. Once the fault has been cleared, the DC power is reapplied to the load. The rise time of the DC load voltage is as small as several hundred microseconds, and there is no overshoot of the DC voltage because the DC output capacitors hold undischarged state. Therefore, the proposed converter can be used for a power supply requiring not only a rapid disconnection the load from the power supply DC output in the case of a short circuit, but also a rapid reconnection of the load to the output after the clearing of the short circuit condition. The proposed converter has the characteristics of a simplified structure, reduced cost, weight and volume compared with a conventional power supply with a frequent output short circuit. Experimental results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed converter.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat.
