However, most of the research in digital watermarking is more concerned with the problem of copyright protection; we believe that the prevention of tampering has the same degree of importance. In this paper, we propose a method that can detect tampering and locate the attacked area in a digital image. The method uses the quantizing DCT coefficients of images selectively in such a way that a tamper destroys the conditions embedded in the DCT coefficients.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. For the last 10 years, many research groups in the world have taken up the idea of strip casting and built laboratory and prototype plants for the casting of steel by the twin-roll process. Strip casting has already reached an advanced stage of development on sizable pilot plant. At present, efforts are concentrated on how to make the process reliable over a long heat period by optimizing the strip caster. Since 1989, Korea's POSCO (Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.) and RIST have been collaborating on a project to develop strip casting to a commercially viable process for the production of stainless and carbon steels. In this paper, the problems of the strip casting process and its control method in the steady state are presented.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Instantaneous power sharing control is used to achieve the current distribution and ensure a fast dynamic response, an adjustable load sharing capability and eliminate the circulation current. A modified method of tracking the photovoltaic maximum power points (MPPs) and forcing the system to operate close to these points is presented. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the proposed system performance.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. The method is based on a recursive biorthogonal wavelet transform and is the double-ended objective video quality assessment method capable of receiving as input a processed video sequence and its corresponding source video sequence. We apply 2D wavelet transform to frames of video sequences. After the wavelet decomposition, each frame is divided into several subbands corresponding to spatial frequencies and this would make it possible to take into account the sensitivity of human visual system to stimuli of different spatial frequencies. Then we obtain an objective quality score by computing PSNR from weighted sum of the squared errors of subbands.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Ever-decreasing feature sizes require extremely tight process control, which rely on a good chamber design. The empirical approach to the RTP design has its own limitations in two areas, although widely adopted and successful in delivering necessary performance specifications: (1) reduction in time-to-market and development cost and (2) quantification of performance limits. With the advent of powerful computing resources at relatively low cost, a model-based approach provides an alternative and has better chance to achieve optimal design by virtue of its capability to quantify performance limits at minimal time and cost. In an effort to realize the model-based approach, a physics-based model is derived and validated against experimental data. With a predictive model available, the performances of an RTP design are analyzed via convex optimization to qualify an RTP design, which also serves as a basis for control implementation once the RTP design parameters are set.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. In the paper, the fuzzy control method is adopted that is robust because the model of a control object is nonlinear and time-variant system. Feedforward control is adopted to suppress overshoot as a shift begins to move. On the basis of the dynamic modeling of a catenary's cable we compose the control system adopting fuzzy and feedforward control and have recognized the effectiveness in a simulation experiment.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. By considering the retinal activity using CNN, we can begin to think about whole retinal interactions in space/time and consider the mechanism of a large population of cells as the edge detection and detection of moving stimuli. Furthermore, after simulating the output response of each retinal neuron, ERG, which is volume conductor potential recorded at the cornea and used as important diagnostic measure in eye clinic, is calculated. Each wavelet which composes the typical ERG has close relationship with the mechanism of a special retinal layer and by analyzing the each wavelet form we can guess the clinical state of special retinal layer.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. At high frequencies all the echo components can be regarded as the summation of an individual echo from certain equivalent scattering centers, as such an underwater target can be characterized by highlights distributed within a spatial target structure. The proposed model is compared with the characteristics of the random distributed model and equivalent interval highlight model, and analyzed for the relative target strengths, echo-elongation effect, and target time spread loss etc. The results confirm that the proposed model can be efficiently used in various real systems related to the echo signal synthesis for acoustic countermeasures engineering.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Most parts of the vector image such as map data consists of an array of coordinate values. At first, the image is partitioned into blocks with the same area and every vertex coordinate value within a block is changed to a new coordinate value whose origin is at the south-west vertex of the mask belongs to the associated block. According to the value of the watermark, the insertion area is different. Unlike the work by Sakamoto et al (2000), the authors may be able to use an arbitrary size of the square mask. The mask of the Sakamoto et al.'s work is specific since the length of the mask is 2/sup R/-1 where R=1, 2, ..., n. The authors also show that their method is superior to the previous work against noise attack.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. This paper proposes a simple method by measuring the lamp voltage for detecting the acoustic instability instead of observing the lamp arc by human eyes. The standard deviation in the lamp voltage is used as an index to determine the occurrence of acoustic resonance. With the index, the degree of the lamp arc instability can easily be specified. Experiments are carried out on various 70 W lamps to inspect the influence of the lamp type, the used hours, and the operating power on the frequency spectra of acoustic resonance.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat.
