Abstract

This paper describes a practical echo signal synthesis model by highlight distribution for underwater simulated target. At high frequencies all the echo components can be regarded as the summation of an individual echo from certain equivalent scattering centers, as such an underwater target can be characterized by highlights distributed within a spatial target structure. The proposed model is compared with the characteristics of the random distributed model and equivalent interval highlight model, and analyzed for the relative target strengths, echo-elongation effect, and target time spread loss etc. The results confirm that the proposed model can be efficiently used in various real systems related to the echo signal synthesis for acoustic countermeasures engineering.
