To avoid acoustic resonance phenomenon, the authors calculated the acoustic resonance band and determined the driving frequency to be from 70 kHz to 100 kHz. Due to the switching loss of MOSFET, many problems are caused in the inverter circuit during lighting of the lamp, so the authors have reduced the loss by connecting the capacitor to reduce inrush current. In this paper, the main research area is to find methods to operate the lamp on regulated constant output. After detecting the current I and voltage V of the lamp, the authors changed the driving frequency by changing the DC voltage level.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. In this type of converter, the input current waveform is controlled by a PWM converter using an optimum fixed voltage modulation factor, where the input current waveform takes an optimum value. The input voltage of the inverter is adjusted by the chopper circuit. When the voltage modulation factor is extended to the over-modulation region in a three-phase voltage source PWM converter, the number of switching operations is much reduced, which is advantageous for larger capacities. With respect to the distortion factor of the input current in the PWM converter, the characteristics do not deteriorate, even in the over-modulation region at about a=1.6 to 1.8 or so. The results are discussed and shown to be applicable to a PWM converter/inverter system for induction motor drives.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. A dual drive servo mechanism is a way to increase control bandwidth, in which two primary axes aligned in parallel are synchronously driven by identical servo motors. With this mechanism, a flexible coupling is often introduced in order to avoid the damage by the servo mismatch between the dual drives located at each side of a gantry. This paper describes the dynamics of this mechanism including the flexible joints and discusses its control ramifications. Also, under the assumption of no servo mismatch between the two drives, simulations are performed to analyze the dynamic effect of the mass of end-effector. Based on the simulation results, an appropriate design guideline to increase the servo bandwidth and to reduce position errors is suggested.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. However, the switched reluctance drive does exhibit higher levels of vibration and acoustic noise than that of most competing drives. The main source of vibration in the switched reluctance drive is generated by rapid change of radial force when phase current is extinguished during commutation action. In this paper, a hybrid excitation method is proposed to reduce vibration and acoustic noise of the switched reluctance drive. The hybrid excitation has 2-phase excitation by long dwell angle as well as conventional 1-phase excitation. The vibration and acoustic noise are reduced because the scheme reduces abrupt change of excitation level by distributed and balanced excitation.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. But due to a communication delay and insufficient information about the remote workplace, it is difficult to perform some tasks in tele-operation. In order to solve these problems, graphics techniques in tele-operation have been studied. As the network technology has progressed, the dedicated communication lines of tele-operation have been replaced with the public communication networks such as the Internet. Experiments using the World Wide Web for tele-operation have been studied. In this paper, a graphic simulator is proposed and developed, which can be used to monitor robots in a remote workplace by using on-line simulation. In particular, it supports a network client/server model for tele-operations of robots. In the system, the sensor information are collected continuously and the event messages are generated according to each tele-operation. The generated event messages are transferred to the graphic workstation through the network by using the TCP/IP messaging and utilized to visualize the tele-operation. The dedicated communication protocols to transmit the information efficiently are developed. In order to do this, we classified several tele-operations and the developed protocols are used to transfer the event messages to the graphic workstation.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat.
