Although digitization itself is not part of “Industry 4.0”, connectivity is the basic requirement for its implementation. In this sense, with the emergence of technologies, preserving what already exists has become preponderant. This preservation then involves reconciling Lean with technology. In this article, a case study on the use and implementation of a digital tool will be conducted, specifically mLean, a tool that daily supports the production lines of an organization belonging to the automotive industry. As mLean is based on digitization, it is possible to create more dynamic and less complex environments, thus improving quality, flexibility, and productivity in the industrial environment, facts in line with findings of this study. In addition, it was possible to conclude with this study that this tool allows to standardize information, reduce paper usage, and get answers faster, thus improving lean management and ensuring the sustainability of associated practices.","PeriodicalId":121747,"journal":{"name":"2023 18th Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (CISTI)","volume":"31 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133390627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes an approach to analyze a controversial text in Portuguese by applying graph visualization techniques. Specifically, we use a story charting technique that transforms the text into a graph. Each node represents a character or main entities, and each edge represents the interactions between characters. We also present several visualization techniques to gain insights into the story’s structure, relationships between the characters, the most important events, and how some key terms are used throughout the book. By using this approach, we can effectively reveal complex patterns and relationships that may not be easily discernible from reading the text. Finally, we discuss the potential applications of our technique in Literary Studies and other fields.","PeriodicalId":121747,"journal":{"name":"2023 18th Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (CISTI)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133398502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, with the continuous exponential increases in number of interconnected intelligent vehicles, managing massive amounts of data generated in vehicular networks becomes a great challenge. This work proposes ATARY, a method for optimizing task allocation processes in VECs using the Grey Wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm. GWO has been especially adapted to model VEC task allocation as wolves’ hunting behaviour. Through a number of vehicle mobility and communication simulations, we show that ATARY is more efficient than some of the most widely used state-of-the-art mechanisms in number of allocated tasks, denied/lost services and resource usage.","PeriodicalId":121747,"journal":{"name":"2023 18th Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (CISTI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133302604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In principle, objective factors are expressed by numerical values being classified by limit values or ranges, while subjective factors express values that can hardly be represented numerically. The evaluation problem tends to worsen when events must be compared and a selection or ordering must be performed. Besides that, projects are part of day to day of the organizations and it is quite common that the number of demands exceeds the capacity of the team available. For this reason, the importance of considering defined processes to help select and prioritize those who are most relevant to an institution. This paper presents a solution proposal to measure and analyze the efficiency degree associated to Brazilian Small Hydroelectric Power Plants (SHPs) in terms of resources and of efforts allocation on implementation of their Dams Safety programs, against the background of National Security Policy established for this of infrastructure type, having like motivation the need to support and rationalize the regulatory oversight process of the governmental authority that supports it. The method, based on multicriteria analysis and data envelopment methods, focused on improving the knowledge and techniques related to the the conformity monitoring process of the facilities by weighing a relevant set of consolidated and technically recognized factors. Its application made possible to measure and guarantee the judgments consistency throughout the process, minimizing risks, promoting greater rationalization and administrative transparency, enabling, within the principles of Collaborative Governance, the access of interested parties to understandable information that goes beyond those determined by legal provisions.","PeriodicalId":121747,"journal":{"name":"2023 18th Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (CISTI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133319680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason it is essential to have good quality medical images. However, sometimes they show degradations such as poor contrast or imperfections in details. In this article we present an algorithm that improves the details of medical images, preserves the average brightness, preserves the structural similarity and corrects the problem of poor contrast. This algorithm improves medical images using the top-hat transform by reconstruction, which extracts brightness and darkness features on multiple scales. These features are used to enhance the medical image. The algorithm was tested with medical images from two public databases. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm improves contrast, introduces little noise, preserves natural brightness, detail and similarity to the original medical image.","PeriodicalId":121747,"journal":{"name":"2023 18th Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (CISTI)","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131446061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
