This relationship with joint trust promotes knowledge exchange that helps develop more qualified researchers and professionals. The Action Research (AR) method combines theory and practice, and studies involving industry-academia collaboration (IAC) have shown encouraging results. Nevertheless, further investigation is required to verify the effects of applying this method. This research investigates the perceptions of academic master’s and doctoral program students and professionals involved in projects that applied the AR method as a strategy to foster IAC. This article replicates a case study with different projects that conducted an AR in software companies. This study indicated high satisfaction among students (83%) when using action research in the course. All students considered the practical knowledge very relevant and would like to use the method again in other opportunities throughout their academic and professional life. This investigation showed that conducting IAC projects using the AR method within the industry in an educational context was challenging. That occurred due to the lack of experience in using empirical methods. The objective of studying queueing networks is to optimize models, either those already implemented or to be implemented, by reducing waiting time and potential financial losses by companies. Discrete event simulation plays a fundamental role complementing the study of queueing models as it can model and simulate real-life scenarios. Therefore, this work proposes the development of a functional extension (library) in Python for discrete event simulations, capable of reproducing and performing performance studies of different models available in the literature, in different computational systems. To validate our proposed solution, we used the SMPL functional extension developed by M. H. MacDougall in C language. The purpose of this article is to describe the main implementation processes of the TV set system (LabCam) and the acceptance by the users. The methodology applied in this project is the software reengineering, since there were previous versions of the TV set laboratory, so a reengineering was performed by collecting all the information of the current laboratory, the same that was necessary for the implementation of the new requirements to the multiuser system. These representations, in some cases, have not been able to ensure that citizens are heard and actively taken into account in the decision-making process of the authorities, causing a state of discomfort and indifference among citizens. Access to Internet services is an important factor to formulate proposals for citizen participation, since voters already have a mechanism to contribute with their criteria through online applications. This article presents “Yo Participo”, as a functional design of a multiplatform citizen participation application, which contributes in an agile way to the management of electronic government, where users and authorities can coordinate actions for the good of society. It is used in the manufacture of clothing, bags, furniture, automobile material, among others. Because of its capital value in industry, it is important to ensure its quality. Traditional inspection by human experts is expensive, time-consuming, and subjective to human errors. Consequently, automatic leather inspection has become an essential part of any production system as it rejects nonconformities, ensures product quality, reduces operating costs, and shortens production cycle times. This paper presents an artificial intelligent model using computer vision for the autonomous inspection of natural leather. Due to its good results in similar problems, the YOLO algorithm was chosen. More specifically, a comparison of the Small, Medium, Large, and Extra-Large models of YOLOv5 in leather defect detection was performed. We used images of leather with and without defects from the MVTec Anomaly Detection dataset. After training, the models were analyzed and compared based on some performance metrics. The model is based on the analysis of speech signal energy in different frequency bands, specifically in its mean value and variation over the signal. The accuracy rates obtained were 100% when discriminating between healthy and unhealthy voices with physiological laryngeal pathologies, 96.55% when discriminating between healthy and unhealthy voices with neuromuscular pathologies, and 93.48% when discriminating between physiological and neuromuscular laryngeal pathologies. In this case study, a questionnaire was implemented, and interviews were conducted to collect data from 94 participants. The results show that students spent most of their days connected to the Internet to use social networks and send and receive messages. Regarding the use of devices, they preferably use their mobile phones, followed by their laptops. In the opinion of these students, the Internet stands out for having allowed them to continue with their education/work and also for having served as a solution to keep in touch with friends and family while simultaneously serving as a disseminator of information regarding the pandemic. Thus, this paper aims to evaluate some recommendation algorithms that use the memory-based Collaborative Filtering (CF) technique and to evaluate the influence of similarity metrics on the performance of these algorithms. Both algorithms and metrics are available in the scikit-surprise library. Two public databases were used: MovieLens 100k and MovieLens 1M. After the experiments, it was observed that the choice of similarity metric might influence the predictive performance and the prediction and training time of the algorithms. The MSD metric was the one that stood out in influencing, in a positive way, these results.
