This data has the potential to cause issues in the system once it reaches too large a size, and therefore must be preprocessed to manageable levels. This paper proposes a method to remove redundant data points from a data set based on a model formed from radial basis function (RBF) approximation. An optimization problem based off the Euclidean distance between the complete and reduced model with an additional least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) component is formulated. A solution to the problem is then solved using simulated annealing. Finally, two simulations are set up to assess the performance of the algorithm.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116181039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This model aims to solve the problems arising from the lack of integrity, inability to decompose SoS’s capability in a static way and untimely verification of SoS’s capability when the traditional V-model of systems engineering is applied to SoSE. This V+ model divides the SoSE process into two levels, the SoS level and the system level. At the SoS level, a system top-level operational process model and a unified information space database have been established, and the key process model “DE-CAMPS” model has been established also. At the system level, the constituent systems are classified according to their engineering phases, and choose different system engineering cutting processes, therefore building a complete SoSE model. Finally, the feasibility of this model is verified during the engineering practice of the complex aviation support system.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125802452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A single layer of $3 times3$ EBG array placed on a microstrip antenna with a height of 80 mm is proposed for WLAN applications. The EBG unit cell is inspired from asterisk shape and structured as square geometry with 8 pins.The performance of the proposed antenna with and without the EBG structure is reported to identify the gain and the aperture efficiency enhancements. The antenna is mounted on a low cost FR4 substrate with maximum dimensions of $85 times 85 times1.55mm^{3}$ with relative permittivity of 4.2 and a loss tangent of 0.02 backed with a full copper ground plane. The EBG structure is mounted on FR4 substrate of 0.55mm thickness. A coaxial feed is used to excite the microstrip patch antenna through SMA connecter. The antenna S11, bandwidth, aperture efficiency and boresight gain are investigated with and without the EBG structure. The EBG operation principles are discussed through simulations using CST MWS of Finite Integration Technique (FIT). The proposed EBG structure provides a remarkable enhancement in the bore-sight gain from 1.5 to 11.2 dBi at 5.8 GHz with an aperture efficiency increase from 4.1% to 38.8.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123428853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite multiple benefits of digitalization, digital transformation has proven to be challenging with over 70% of initiatives failing. A key reason for this is a lack of an effective management framework for eGovernment digital transformation. This paper proposes such a framework by using the system of systems methodology. The framework allows eGovernment decisionmakers to effectively identify various constituent systems and examine how they interact with each other to form a system of systems. This systemic analysis provides an opportunity for more holistic management of digital transformation in eGovernment, including being more risk aware, dynamic, flexible, and resilient. A case study of digital transformation at the Australian Taxation Office has been used to illustrate the application of the proposed framework.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128256360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is assumed to have a multicast topology communication system among vehicles. The dynamic model of each single car considers the tractive force, its aerodynamic, and the rolling resistance of the vehicles. The control law is dedicated to manage the longitudinal spacing of the platoon according to leader’s behavior. The objective is to minimize the tractive force to be applied to each vehicle in order to maintain a constant distance among vehicles according to position and speed reference values. The non-linear cinematic model has been linearized around its previous state value. The centralized controller regulates vehicle accelerations or decelerations over a time horizon. The objective is to optimize the cost function, which minimizes the square deviations of positions, speeds, and tractive forces, as well as the predefined inter vehicular distances in the platoon. The control model has been tested in two case studies that impose, respectively, constant and time varying speed reference values. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach with special relevance to the constant speed case.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"56 1.2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120987317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sub-systems are independent and make its schedule by itself. All the sub-system's schedule must be consistent in the total system (System of Systems). Proposed method is intended to be used at a certain system among the subsystems, and propose and ask the schedule to be changed to another system. Though simple asking may sometimes rejected, our method can build more acceptable schedule for other systems, by predicting the other system's response and select the most acceptable one. This scheme is done by machine-learning technology. With the experiment, we have verified the feasibility of our proposed method.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"343 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133181094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the possible answers to the emerging problems of pollution and efficiency is the use of precision agriculture. The one of the greatest challenges of the agricultural sector is to feed significantly more people on more or less the same size of agricultural land. The size of the utilized agricultural cannot be expanded significantly. The other pillar of the production growth is the higher yields. It can be reached in various ways starting from optimal fertilizer use, more fertile seeds to irrigation. Precision agriculture use most of these opportunities. PA can contribute to food security and safety, it supports sustainable farming (EP, 2016). The high initial costs, PA technologies are closely related to the farm size, which is an important factor of the adoption.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134277181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With such complexity, policy makers and managers need to adapt (make incremental changes in) sociotechnical systems, and currently available approaches for such adaptations are rare. Consequently, and to fill this gap, this paper takes a multi-domain approach based upon Design Structure and Multi-domain matrices to develop a multi-domain model of sociotechnical system. Moreover, that model is analyzed according to both the change propagation measures of the non-human domain and the information processing view of the stakeholder domain of socio-technical systems. Application of this method for the Dutch railway system is discussed in Part 2 of this paper.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134458604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The knowledge of the structure and the chemical composition of the material is fundamental for the development of new technologies adapted to smart applications. In this paper, we get our interest to the Voltage Pulse AP, which works with a high voltage pulse of nanosecond duration. One of the key performance of the AP is to have a sufficient resolution to be able to distinguish close mass peaks or small peaks from the background tail noise. The efficiency of the system is closely related to the voltage pulse shape. By comparing current pulse generators characteristics and investigating the influence of different pulse shapes on characterization of atoms, we will propose a new pulse configuration adapted to AP composed of a homemade solid-state Marx generator and an industrial ultra short pulse generator. Our objectives are to be able to modulate the voltage pulse and optimize the Mass Spectrum resolution.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133507184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hexapod base used for this algorithm consists of six three degree of freedom legs on a rectangular body. The purpose of this algorithm is to generate a gait such that when N motors become inoperable, as detected by the robot’s internal software, the system is able to continue moving about its environment. While algorithms like this have been implemented before, the generated gaits are a sequence of discrete foot positions. This work aims to generate continuous motions profiles for each joint of the leg rather than discrete foot positions. Previous works commonly disable an entire leg when damage occurs, instead this work aims to disable only individual joint motors.","PeriodicalId":121664,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 15th International Conference of System of Systems Engineering (SoSE)","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132946183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
