It presents a set of multimedia courses on material characterization of VLSI wafers with different techniques. The major interest of the courses is the protocol simulator available for each technique. Such a simulator aims at giving the user a good look and feel of the real and complex experimental setup by allowing him to perform actions on its simulated model, according to the real protocol of use. Thanks to an appropriate design methodology, it is pretty easy to adapt the protocol simulator engine to any industrial or academic specific setup and to couple it with other simulators (like spectrum simulator), thus providing virtual instrumentation on surface analysis.","PeriodicalId":120048,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Microelectronic Systems Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133852209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, PLD education is based on the analysis of specific devices of several manufacturers, but this method is nor suitable because it gives only a particular insight. This situation demands a new methodology that summarizes all the characteristics of PLDs and makes possible a dynamic link between related concepts. From this perspective this paper describes an original method of PLD characterization and proposes a hypermedia application as a suitable solution for its practical implementation.","PeriodicalId":120048,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Microelectronic Systems Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133438956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the presentation of the general frame of this programme, the specific actions will be detailed: SMIs awareness to new technologies, and specialised training sessions in microelectronics that were defined and realised for SMIs. We will then give quantitative results of the action and the characteristics of the SMIs that were provided help via JESSICA. Thanks to the positive results obtained by the programme over the last five years, JESSICA is likely to continue its action for a new period of four years.","PeriodicalId":120048,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Microelectronic Systems Education","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134512260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
