The Milania glomerata plant leaf extracts were used for anticancer study against A549 human lung cancer cell line. The solid – liquid extraction method has been employed to prepare the ethanol extract of Mikania glomerata through soxhelt apparatus method. To check the anti-proliferative effect of this extract, the extract chosen was tested for cell viability on the lung cancer cells A549 in different concentrations. Cell viability was evaluated by MTT assay for 24 hour and 48 hours. The LD50 value was calculated for the level of cell death and its effectiveness. The dose-dependent manner plays an important role in the treatment of lung cancer cell lines. The present study suggests that Mikania glomerata may be used as an alternative anticancer agent and further research is needed to improve the effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116137103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we study the performance of two recently developed modifications of well known so called Adomian’s decomposition method applied using Laplace transform to nonlinear Volterra integral equations. Three nonlinear Volterra integral equations are solved analytically by implementing these modifications. From the obtained results, it may be concluded that that the modified techniques are reliable, efficient and easy to use through recursive relations that involve simple integrals. Moreover, these particular examples show the reliability and the performance of proposed modifications.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124719450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) test was performed to find the inhibitory concentration of AgNO 3 against marine bacterial isolate. After MIC study, the biogenic AgNPs was prepared through marine bacterial isolate and characterized by using UV-visible spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). From the UV-visible spectroscopy, the absorption peak was found at 420 nm. In SEM image, it is confirmed that the sample contains spherical shaped silver nanoparticles and most of the particles were below 100 nm in size. In XRD analysis, it was confirmed that the silver nanoparticles are crystalline in nature, which was confirmed by the FTIR peak at 518 cm -1 corresponding to the Ag vibration present in crystalline structure. The antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles was determined by disk diffusion method, and found that silver nanoparticles have significant antibacterial activity against most of the pathogens.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129714640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being in powder form the administration of accurate dose with ease is a problem. They may have some kind of unacceptable bitter taste. Furthermore it needs water or honey for administration and chances of spoilage and waste are more. Oro-dispersible tablet which rapidly disintegrating in mouth will be the best remedy for efficient use of ayurvedic powders. The aim of this study was to formulate oro-dispersible tablets of ayurvedic polyherbal powder Talisadi. Talisadi is a traditional Ayurvedic powder preparation well known and effective in various disorders of respiratory and digestive system. Using various excipients like super-disintegrants and sweeteners, different formulation of polyherbal drug Talisadi were formulated by direct compression method. The acceptable formulation, among all the developed formulations of oro-dispersible tablet was having a disintegrating time of 1 min and 10 sec and acceptable taste. Thus the study concludes that formulation of oro-dispersible tablets of ayurvedic powder preparation can be a good option to enhance acceptability, efficiency and easy and accurate administration of powder ayurvedic preparations like Talisadi.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124847202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With a standard  deviation  of  0.010.  Analysed results obtained show that %Fe removal equation with Mn addition has been validly derived. The model \" R-Squared\" of 0.9814 is found to be in agreement with the \"Adj R-Squared\" of 0.9628;  the difference  being less than 0.2. The derived model equation gives a reasonable forecast of %Fe removed very close to the values obtained from the experiments. The close proximity of both model and experimental result values is attributed to the low standard error of the model coefficients. The processing parameters are process temperature, alloy contents and holding time.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127622458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was aimed at determining the occurrence of pathogenic bacteria on the phylloplane of some medicinal plants commonly used to treat diseases by oral administration. Leaves samples were collected aseptically from Cassia fistula (Cassia) Mangifera indica (Mango) and Psidium guajavum (Guava) and their bacterial contents were assessed. Higher bacterial counts were observed in raw samples followed by those washed with sterile water. Samples washed with sterile warm water (blanched) were shown to have lower counts although without statistical significance (p ≤ 0.05). Guava leaves had higher counts (3.4×106 cfu/g) in the raw samples and cassia in blanched (6.4×105 cfu/g). However, mango leaves had the lowest (8.4×105 cfu/g and 2.0×105 cfu/g) in both the treatments respectively. Twenty bacterial species were isolated comprising Gram negative and Gram positive species. Bacterial identification revealed that Proteus mirabilis (35%), Proteus vulgaris (15%), Escherichia coli (15%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (5%), Morganella morganii (5%), Salmonella typhi (10%), Enterobacter sp. (5%), Staphylococcus aureus (5%) and Vibrio cholarae (5%) were the prevalent species. These organisms could be potential pathogens and proper washing with hot water may serve a better means of reducing the microbial contents and thus, it is recommended.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122451722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prevalence and antibiotic susceptibility of P. multocida isolates from freshly dead chicken were determined. Ninety seven (97) freshly dead chicken from 23 different farms were analyzed for the presence of P. multocida . Swabs of the trachea and the liver of the necropsied chicken were activated on buffered peptone water and later cultured on blood agar and MacConkey agar. Pure culture of organisms were subjected to cultural and biochemical characterization. In vitro susceptibility of the pure isolates of P. multocida against 12 antimicrobial agents was determined using disk diffusion method. Twelve isolates of P. multocida were recovered from the chicken, with a prevalence of 12.4%. Nine of the isolates were recovered from the trachea and three from the liver. All the 12 isolates recovered from the birds were multi-resistant to the antibiotics used in this research. The antibiogram showed that all the isolates resisted ampicillin, amoxicillin/clavulinate, doxycycline and tylosine. Nitrofuratoin and gentamycin had the best antimicrobial activity with 25% and 50% resistance respectively. The resistance of other antibiotics are: Ofloxacin 75%, Ciprofloxacin 83.3%, Enrofloxacin 75%, Furasol 66.7%, Ceftazidime 91.7% and Cefuroxime 66.7%. This result showed that there is an emergence of multi- resistance in P. multocida, therefore it is important to carry out sensitivity test before administration of antibiotics in order to control fowl cholera.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124061631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Oral administration of plant extract in two doses 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg body weight were subjected for the evaluation of hepatoprotective potential against alcohol (2ml/100g) and PCM (2g/kg) induced liver injury. Silymarin (25mg/kg) was used as a standard drug. The parameters like SGPT, SGO, ALP, TB and endogenous enzymes were estimated to assess the liver functions. In addition histopathological study was also carried out. Both the lower (200mg/kg) and higher dose (400mg/kg) of D.biflorus extract showed dose dependent significant decrease in SGPT, SGOT, ALP and TB levels when compared with toxic control. Both extracts showed decrease in LPO and increase in GSH, SOD and CAT levels. Hepatoprotective effect was also confirmed by histopathological analysis of liver which showed less damage in extract treated rats. The results obtained were comparable with that of the standard. The present study concluded that Dolichos biflorus Linn. plant were found to be effective against hepatotoxicity induced by Alcohol and Paracetamol.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130708903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
