Some bacteriocins even display antagonistic activity towards Gram-positive food borne pathogens and spoilage organisms. This present study involves isolation of Bacteriocin-producing lactic acid bacteria from a variety of milk and milk products. The physico-chemical properties of the isolated bacteriocin producing bacterial strains were screened. The isolated bacteriocin bacterial strains were biochemically characterized and identified. Further, the isolated effective bacterial strain was used as a fish feed and its effect on their growth was evaluated. The evaluated data continue to demonstrate that the bacteriocin producing bacterial strains will have greater potential in the food products industry.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121928364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bupivacaine is a long acting local anaesthetic. Due to its long duration of action and combined with its high quality sensory blockade compared to motor blockade it has been the most commonly used local anaesthetic for peripheral nerve blocks. Ropivacaine is a newer, long acting local anaesthetic whose neuronal blocking potential used in peripheral nerve blockade seems to be equal or superior to bupivacaine. Studies show that it has significantly greater safety margin over bupivacaine. Hence here is an attempt through the study to compare bupivacaine with ropivacaine in supraclavicular brachial plexus block in ASA II&III patients.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127056822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results focus on slip flow regime (i.e., for Knudsen numbers in the range 10 −3 < Kn < 10 −1 ). The Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer model is applied to study the effect of nonlinear drag term further boundary-friction effects on hydrodynamic of gas flow in micro-channels. The results show that DTM results are in good agreement with numerical ones. Also, it is observed that decreasing the value of Darcy number flattens the velocity profile while this trend is opposite for decreasing the Forchheimer number. Also, increasing the value of  causes to increase the velocity slip at the wall.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114590564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The peripheral nerve block provides good analgesia in these patients before performing regional anesthesia. This study aims to compare 2 local anesthestics in femoral nerve block for analgesia in preoperative positioning and postoperative analgesia of patientsMethods: Prospective, randomized study was conducted on 60 patients (18-60 years) of ASA I&II scheduled for femur surgery under combined spinal epidural. anaesthesia In group B (n=30), femoral nerve block(FNB) was performed with 0.2% bupivacaine (30ml) and in group R(n=30), 0.2% ropivacaine (30 ml) was used. Various parameters like numeric rating pain scale, time to spinal anaesthesia, sensory and motor block onset times and durations, time to first analgesic use, intraoperative & postoperative visual analog scale (VAS) data, post- operative epidural top ups, vitals and side effects were recorded for each patient.Results: Pain assessed on visual analogue scale (VAS) during positioning was significantly less in FNB group using 0.2%bupivacaine at 5 minutes. Time to perform spinal block was significantly shorter in FNB group using 0.2% bupivacaine (8.30 min) versus ropivacaine group (17.30 min). But postoperative analgesic requirements were more in ropivacaine group and duration of analgesia was prolonged in bupivacaine group.Conclusion: With bupivacaine time to perform spinal anesthesia was reduced and postoperative analgesia was better with bupivacaine group.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127998702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its common larval hosts depend on the availability of Turnera subulata. The study has been carried from January to July 2015 in Thammampatti, Salem district in Tamilnadu. A. terpiscore larvae were found in Turnera subulata and Passiflora foetida. From this observation it is evident that host preference is prevalently exhibited in larval feeding of Tawny Coster. On the availability of T. subulata the choice of P. foetida is found meagre. The caterpillars were counted once a week in both the populations during an observation period of six months. T. subulata and P. foetida plants respectively envisaging its host preference of T. subulata over P. foetida. It is reported here for the first time as a new larval host of Tawny Coster.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123236894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: In present study, patients with acute kidney disease admitted to Sir T Hospital, Govt. Medical College Bhavnagar between June 2013 and July 2014 are studied with a detailed history, general physical examination, and systemic examination and investigated as per the proforma. Data collected, analysed and the test of significance was calculated by chi square, student’s t test. Results and conclusion: A prospective study of 100 cases of acute kidney injury admitted to Sir T Hospital Bhavnagar between June 2013 and July 2014 is done. Diagnosis of the patients is based on the clinical and laboratory evidence of elevated blood urea and serum creatinine. This study showed male to female ratio of 2.7:1. Maximum incidence is seen between 40-65 years. The study showed various etiological factors associated with acute kidney injury like malaria, snake bite, septicaemia, heart failure, cirrhosis, drug nephrotoxicity and acute gastroenteritis. 8 patients had obstructive uropathy. Common symptoms are oliguria and vomiting, other clinical features are fever, jaundice, loose stool and peripheral edema. However, septicaemia is the predominant cause of acute kidney injury in our study.  Out of 100 cases, 93% patients survived and 7% expired. 83% patients are on conservative management and 17% underwent hemodialysis. Out of 100 cases, 51 patients are having associated illness which made them prone to develop AKI. Mortality is also seen more among this group. Most common comorbid illnesses are DM, HTN and IHD.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127746909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We also carry out a detailed analysis on the stability of equilibrium and we show that the model established in this paper possesses non-negative solutions. Numerical solutions are obtained using a predictor-corrector method to handle the fractional derivatives. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. Numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the results. Also, the numerical simulations show that, modeling the phenomena of RNA silencing by fractional ordinary differential equations (FODE) has more advantages than classical integer-order modeling.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126827118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, with the development of different systems of energy production, different techniques such as the use of solar energy, wind energy, fuel cells, micro turbines and diesel generators in cogeneration have been considered, each of these methods has its own advantages and disadvantages. Having a reliable energy generation system, inexpensive and availability the use of fuel cells as a major candidate has been introduced. Fuel cells converting chemical energy to electrical energy that today are one as a new technology in energy production are considered. In this paper fuel cell compression ratios 4, 4.1 and 4.2 at an ambient temperature of 298 K have been simulated and ultimately optimum ratio 4.1 for modeling has been selected. All components of cycle, including the stack of fuel cell, combustion chamber, air compressors, recuperator and gas turbine was evaluated from the viewpoint of exergy and exergy destruction rate was calculated by EES software.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113988132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was aimed at converting these waste into useful product through bioconversion using Aspergillus niger . The proximate analysis, reducing sugar, pH, and titratable acidity of the both ripe and unripe peels of pine apple was carried out at the onset of the fermentation and at an interval of 24 hours for 96 hours. These analyses carried out on both ripe and the unripe peels of pineapple showed that, the crude protein increased from 3.96% to 9.84% in the ripe pineapple peel and increased from 3.21% to 6.41% in unripe peels. The crude fiber reduced from 14.09% to 3.23% in the ripe pineapple peels while the crude fiber of the unripe peels reduced from 10.15 to 4.62 at the end of the 96 hour fermentation. Increase in titratable acidity, reduction in reducing sugar and pH was recorded for both ripe and unripe peels during the fermentation period. The optimum bioconversion was recorded at 72 hours of fermentation where the pick in the crude protein was recorded. The fat content of the pineapple peel in both ripe and unripe pineapple peel remain fairly constant throughout the fermentation period. The ripe pineapple peel yielded more protein compared to the unripe pineapple peels. This is an indication that the ripe pineapple peels are more preferred for industrial application.","PeriodicalId":119953,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Scientific Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133262755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
