This study verified the association between coping and quality of life in 13 children with cancer (6 to 12 years old) from a public hospital in the Southeastern region of the country. Methods: The participants answered the Hospitalization Coping Scale and Pediatric Quality of Life 3.0 (Cancer Module). Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were applied. A high average of adaptive coping and coping behaviors, such as talking, playing, and taking medicine, were observed. Results: The results suggest a potential positive correlation between quality of life related to the domain nausea, which also showed high scores, and adaptive coping, demonstrating children’s difficulty in dealing with nausea, even after using adaptive coping strategies, and this domain was significant in reducing the quality of life perceived. Conclusion: Understanding coping and qualitywww of life may steer intervention in Pediatric Oncology.","PeriodicalId":11883,"journal":{"name":"Estudos De Psicologia (campinas)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67206737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A longitudinal, quasi-experimental design was used, with pre-test and immediate post-test evaluations. A sociodemographic questionnaire, Cartoon Test, KIDSCREEN-52, and Social Support Appraisals were used. The intervention had four editions and consisted of eight weekly meetings, amounting to 16 hours. A total of 69 adolescents (12-17 years) participated in the study, 40 of which were allocated to the Experimental Group and 29 to the Control Group. Results: After the intervention, the Experimental Group demonstrated improvements in the adolescents’ perception of bullying, quality of life, and social support. The intergroup analysis indicated a better perception of bullying for the Experimental Group. Conclusion: From the data, it can be concluded that the intervention demonstrated its effectiveness and has the potential to be replicated in the school context.","PeriodicalId":11883,"journal":{"name":"Estudos De Psicologia (campinas)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67206877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The study involved the participation of 1,556 High School students with a mean age of 16 years and 4 months (SD = 1.17). Results: Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used and the model was based on the structure of 46 items distributed in nine dimensions, having demonstrated good rates of fit and accuracy. It was verified that the model originally indicated by the scientific literature was not confirmed in the Brazilian context, being proposed modifications that bring the current model closer to the national reality. Conclusion: There was an adjustment in the estimates of the parameters used, and stability and generality can be considered in the way the model was organized.","PeriodicalId":11883,"journal":{"name":"Estudos De Psicologia (campinas)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67206996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, these conditions were evaluated as a function of Spirituality/Religiosity, as well as private prayer practices and attendance at religious spaces. Spirituality and religiosity have been widely investigated as health promoters. Methods: A sample of 1,293 participants completed the Beck Depression Inventory Primary Care, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, the Religious Spiritual Coping Brief Scale, and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The group was separated into Spirituality/Religiosity levels, prayer practices, and attendance at religious centers. Results: An ANOVA concluded that those who pray alone daily develop lower anxiety traits (F (8,133) = 7.885, p < 0.001) compared with individuals who pray once or twice a year. Participants who self-declared to be very spiritual exhibited fewer depressive symptoms (M = 2.57, SD = 2.88) compared to non-spiritual participants (M = 4.29, SD = 4.07, p < 0.001). Conclusion: In summary, Spirituality/Religiosity can positively impact mental health.","PeriodicalId":11883,"journal":{"name":"Estudos De Psicologia (campinas)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67207295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: A free association task was performed by a sample of 205 Portuguese individuals who were given the word “Psychology” as a stimulus. Data were analysed using content analysis, supported by the Max-Qda software. Results: The main results show a greater diversity of representations compared to previous studies. However, the dominant representation in terms of intervention is still the curative clinic and the medical paradigm. Conclusion: This research made it possible to highlight the need for Psychology professionals, and the entities that represent them, to reinforce the visibility and awareness of the community in general, of the application areas both in the scientific and professional context.","PeriodicalId":11883,"journal":{"name":"Estudos De Psicologia (campinas)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67207149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
