The challenges that arise need to be addressed, which will make it possible to increase the competitiveness of higher education seekers after their graduation, and, as a consequence, to improve the competitiveness of the higher education institution itself. The tasks that arise are: a change in the approach to the educational process of research and teaching staff, which must consist in the interest of teachers themselves to improve the quality of educational services they provide; a change in the approach to the educational process of learners – students, listeners, cadets, etc. – that is, it is necessary to transform those who are taught into those who learn; definition of criteria for the effectiveness of education, which is obviously not only in achieving program learning outcomes. \u0000The main criteria of efficiency of educational activity are formulated in the article. These criteria are obviously not only the amount and strength of knowledge and skills, competencies and program learning outcomes. Using only such criteria, it is impossible to fully assess the current requirements for the effectiveness of education. In the conditions of market relations, economic crisis, global mental restructuring, the main criterion for the effectiveness of training of the specialist is the ability to employ him in various positions after graduation, and possibly during training. What is more important is the ability of the job seeker to self-improve and master various competencies when changing functional responsibilities. That is, a higher education student must have a wide range of competencies, not only deep ones, which will enable him to develop under certain conditions in the performance of functional duties. Such tasks make it possible to solve the use of elements of dual education, distance technology using modern technological solutions and motivation of participants in the educational process to self-development. \u0000The article concludes that the mutual combination of dual education with distance learning technologies should ultimately solve the urgent problem of training an experienced specialist with a high level of competence who will be able to perform production tasks without additional internship or training after graduation.

A brief review and an analysis of scientific literature on the problem of studying the difficulties of the individual’s adaptive processes and determining the nature of the phenomenon and duration of the ‘culture shock’ effect on foreigners are carried out. The aim of the work is to find out the foreign students’ particular features that affect the quality of academic performance, and factors that contribute to the effective and comfortable adaptation of foreigners in conditions of stay in a foreign culture. International education faculty of NTU "KhPI" is an important stage in the system of training foreign qualified specialists for foreign countries. Therefore, curators need to properly organize the gradual entry of foreign students into a foreign language culture, help them get used to the living and socio-cultural conditions of Ukraine, the new education system and the new language. Getting students into a new cultural environment always causes them "culture shock". In this regard, the lecturer-curator needs to pay considerable attention to solving this problem and finding new forms and methods of work to successfully overcome it. The lecturer's assistance in the process of adapting international students to new socio-cultural conditions is the main factor that significantly affects the success of students and the effectiveness of the educational process. Preparing textbooks and manuals contributes to the development of communication skills and the formation of ideas about the cultural realities of the country of the studied language. Successful adaptation is facilitated by thematic lessons, writing abstracts for the student scientific conference "Ukraine and the World" under the curator’s supervision, preparing presentations and speeches, vocational-guidance events, etc. City presentation tours, trips to the Maxim Gorky Central Park for Culture and Recreation, visiting the opera and ballet theater, viewing art and other exhibitions, getting acquainted with Ukrainian dishes, etc speed up the cultural adaptation of foreign students. A successful combination of academic and extracurricular activities can significantly facilitate the entry of foreigners into the Ukrainian socio-cultural environment.

Based on the analysis of the scientific literature, it is concluded that the effectiveness of classes in teaching oral language in a foreign language is achieved through the use of communicative and activity approaches, as well as the use of learning and speech situations that will help bring learning closer to natural communication. Therefore, the methodological basis is a threefold approach to learning theory. Given the classification of stages of formation in foreign listeners of full-fledged mental actions, four stages were identified, through which it is necessary to conduct foreign listeners in order to form in them speech skills and abilities within the scientific style of speech. The main task of the first stage (motivational-target) is to direct foreign students to study the scientific style of speech and develop interest in this discipline, mastering which will allow them to participate in communication in the educational and professional sphere and also partially prepare them for professional activity. At the content-preparatory stage, foreign students create guidelines for mental activity, ie there is an acquaintance and consolidation of grammatical constructions of scientific style of speech and the necessary scientific vocabulary, on the basis of which they will be able to perform any speech tasks. At the communicative stage, foreign students participate in communicative activities, forecasting and planning of speech, its production based on the studied grammatical constructions and the necessary scientific vocabulary, using speech etiquette, realization of skills of dialogic and monologue speech using educational speech terminology. At the final analytical-corrective stage the analysis and correction of formation of levels of oral speech of foreign listeners is provided and is realized through independent work on conversational educational and speech situations.

It was found that vocational guidance in modern schools of Ukraine is conducted at a low level, is ineffective and uses a narrow range of methods. Ways to implement career guidance are mostly theoretical and do not provide sufficient knowledge for a conscious choice of profession. Lack of implementation of practical ways deprives high school students of a deep understanding of the chosen profession, the ability to conduct self-analysis and compare personal abilities and skills with the requirements for the specialty. \u0000For the most part, career guidance is reduced to the propaganda work of higher education institutions. Student visits by students and other activities organized by universities are mostly aimed at acquainting students with the peculiarities of studying in a particular university, its advantages over other educational institutions. However, such measures cannot be considered career guidance, as they do not provide sufficient information about professions, but only acquaint future entrants with the specifics of training and provide general information about the relevant professions. \u0000In addition, in Ukraine there is no relationship between the State Employment Center and the vocational guidance of schoolchildren. This leads to an imbalance between supply and demand in the labor market, which in turn negatively affects the economic situation of the country due to higher unemployment. It also has a negative impact on social development, because a person who has not been able to realize himself cannot be a socially active and life-satisfied citizen who loves his country. Due to professional uncertainty and misunderstanding by young people of the answer to the question "Who am I?" loss of flair and abilities, the development of which could bring the country advantages, victories, economic independence. \u0000Analysis of career guidance work in schools abroad shows that career guidance in schools in Ukraine is at a low level, lacks a number of important components and does not have a positive impact on the social and economic life of the country.

Among these reasons, the author stated the following: the gap between secondary and higher education in the country, as well as higher education and scientific and technical sphere; high percentage of migration of the population of Ukraine; insufficient level of funding for research; lack of partnerships between business and higher education institutions, which as a result contributes to the imbalance of supply and demand in the labor market, etc. The author proposes the directions of development of higher education and science in Ukraine, which solves the existing problems in the field of modern higher education and science in the present conditions. \u0000Special attention is given to the need to provide universal design in education and science for low-mobility groups (in particular, people with disabilities), as well as to ensure accessibility to social infrastructure (in particular, educational and scientific institutions). It is emphasized that in the conditions of modern development of civilization, when special attention is paid to the protection of human rights and the citizen in all spheres of life, it is advisable to introduce more effective measures in the field of education and science for people with disabilities and other representatives of the low-mobility population groups. The legislative framework regulating the requirements for creating unimpeded access to social infrastructure facilities for low-mobility groups of population is analyzed. It is noted that Ukraine does not comply with these requirements, although construction in the country is quite active. It is emphasized that Ukraine, as a developed European country, also needs to take care of everyone's rights and provide accessible education and science.

The modern information-communication and educational technologies are considered, which make it possible to improve the quality of teaching physics and the assimilation of the discipline by students. The role of distance learning (DL) is emphasized in the context of a limited number of hours devoted to physics. The article examines the global trends in the development of distance learning, analyzes the role of this form of education in the modern educational process and the factors affecting the development of DL. Attention is drawn to the difficulties of implementing a virtual laboratory practice, without which it is impossible to implement full-fledged teaching of physics remotely. The use of virtual works allows observing the main principle of didactics – visualization. \u0000Visibility provides optimal assimilation of the material by increasing the emotional perception of the material and the use of all types of thinking in students. It is focused on the requirements of modern employers, which have been studied for several years in the construction and architectural industries. If a few years ago employers paid attention to the so-called hard skills that can be checked using a variety of exams, tests (professional competence, knowledge of foreign languages, computer skills, etc.), now the most important are soft skills - universal competencies that are difficult to quantify. These very relevant skills include communication skills, the ability to work in a team, creativity, punctuality, balance, responsibility and the ability to adapt to the new conditions of the modern market. \u0000The study and analysis of employers' requirements allowed us to conclude that the most significant and popular qualities can be called the "3-C-formula": communication skills, creativity and corporate identity. The article is devoted to determining the need for distance and online education, the differences between them, the necessary forms of communication, the advantages and disadvantages of these forms of education, as well as prospects for distance and online education in Ukraine. It has been identified that online and distance education is viable and effective teaching strategies, but each has its own clear advantages and disadvantages for both teachers and students. The article proves that there are the following differences between these types of education: the location of the teacher and students; interaction between teacher and students; intention of teaching strategy. The authors list the advantages of distance education: distance education can continue without interruption, even in cases such as emergencies or the COVID-19 pandemic; distance education provides more flexibility for students to work at their own pace and review assignments as needed. The article summarizes the main forms of online communication between students and teachers - video conferencing, forum, chat, blog, etc. In addition, the most common web resources for distance education: Moodle, Google Classroom, Zoom and others. The problems that arise in the implementation of distance education have been identified: it is impossible to use distance education if students do not have access to devices or the Internet at home; it is difficult to keep a real contribution of the student to the work; distance education can make falsification even easier than online education; distance education can lead to even more screen time for students. It was concluded that the use of the Internet in teaching is necessary both for teachers who seek to offer their students different ways of learning, and for the students themselves. It has been proven that distance education is most useful for those students who have constant access to technology at home and work responsibly and independently, and it has a clear advantage in the event of an unexpected restriction of classes in the free economic zone.
