The correlation is constructed using recent survey data on the contribution of structural capital to the innovation processes in the industries. The correlation is represented quantitatively using the recently developed Intellectual Capital and Innovation (ICI) index involving all components of intellectual capital and its role to enable innovation in a manufacturing industry. However, the paper is focused only on the contribution of structural capital component. Using the available data it is shown that the correlation is highly depending on the scale and characteristics of each manufacture. It is also argued that the ICI index is able to quantitatively prove the dominant components in innovation processes for each class of manufacturing industries.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128602244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Project manager selection is another tough and complex issue among decision making problems. In order to use a systematic method, a framework is demonstrated in this paper to assist a group of decision makers to use linguistic variables for rating candidates. Identifying the best candidate among participants for project manager selection is the goal of this study. To achieve this objective, a fuzzy SAW method has been used. The validation of these models were inspected by using a case study of project manager selection in order to choose a right PM for project manager position in a project based company. The feedbacks reveal that this model is quite reliable in selecting project managers and can ameliorate the efficiency of decision making process.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132866367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several methods have been proposed for selecting such locations optimally. The two noteworthy parameters such methods try to optimize are: selection of the best-fit location and the time of executing the algorithm. Consequently, the efficient method will be the one that selects locations as close to the optimal status as possible and enjoys a rather acceptable speed. This is considered an NP-Complete problem, and thus, heuristic methods will be used in its solution. Among the proposed methods to solve the problem of replica placement of server location, the best algorithm in terms of time complexity is the O (N. max(logN, K)). The method which has been introduced in this study is the designation and implementation of an algorithm using the genetic algorithm. The execution time of such an algorithm is much less than the algorithms whose location is close to optimal.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125293916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using step-wise logistic regression analysis, the study found that only if SMEs have internal technical competence in terms of technically qualified entrepreneur, an exclusive design centre, and innovate more frequently, they will be able to obtain external support. Further using step-wise multiple regression the study concluded that SMEs which have come up to implement innovative ideas or exploit market opportunities and which have obtained external support with technically qualified entrepreneurs are able to exhibit better innovation performance.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125103843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SVC is one type of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) device, designed and implemented to improve the damping of a synchronous generator, as well as controlling the system voltage. This paper introduced Evolutionary Programming (EP) optimization method based SVC-PI controller. The study includes the placement of SVC with PI controller, while computational intelligence technique is used in optimizing the parameter values of PI controller: proportional gain, KP and interval gain, KI. Validation with respect to eigenvalues determination and synchronizing and damping torque coefficients (KS and KD) value confirmed that the proposed technique is effective to improve the angle stability problem.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122730084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Capital structure determinants of Shariah-compliant (SC) and conventional companies (CC) might be different due to restriction placed on capital structure and business activities of an SC. The aim of this research is to disclose the influential factors of capital structure of SC and CC. By using multiple regressions, we examined seventy SC and fifty CC listed on Main Market of Bursa Malaysia from year 2005–2010. We found that the SC's debt ratio was significant with profitability, size and tangibility but insignificant with non debt tax shield. The CC's debt ratio was significant with profitability, size and non debt tax shield but tangibility was insignificant. This has suggested both SC and CC have different factors to be considered in deciding the capital structure.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"80 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132801205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study specifically segregated samples into companies which are value creator (with positive EVA) and value destroyer (with negative EVA) and examine how this two type of samples have any impact on the Malaysia stock market performance. The analysis was done on a total of 534 observations in the year 2010. Overall, findings of the study show that the results for value creator companies are insignificant. On the other hand, although the value destroyer companies generated a significant result but the correlation with the Malaysian stock market performance is relatively low. The evidences discovered in the study will enhance the body of literature with further justification on the validity of the EVA model approach as an indicator for value creation measurement.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115129612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
