Therefore, businesses are eager on precisely measuring service quality in understanding its crucial antecedents and consequences to accomplish competitive advantage and assemble customer loyalty. Thus, this paper is to determine the relationship between service quality and customer loyalty at a telecommunication company in Malaysia. The data were gathered through the distribution of questionnaires to the total of 306 respondents who visited and used the products or services at TMpoint Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor. The researcher used the correlational and multiple regression methods. The result identified that there was a positive and significant relationship between service quality and customer loyalty. The most influence factor on customer loyalty was assurance followed by reliability and tangibles. Nevertheless, there was no significant influence among responsiveness and empathy on customer loyalty. Based on international reports, we found that the online shopping phenomenon among adolescents is rapidly growing. Hence, e-commerce website owners started few years ago to target adolescents as main consumers for their electronic commercial portals. And due to the lack of existing studies regarding the adolescents behavior online. This study contributes on shedding the light of the most important designing anchors for e-shopping portals that target the adolescents. Designers for such portals - targeting this category of consumers - should not lay on a random process while designing. The designing must be established on deliberate anchors. Therefore designers should be very particular about these anchors, precisely if the targeted user is an adolescent. Due considerably to adolescents differ from kids and adults in terms of psychology, drifts, and tendencies. This paper exposes those anchors that may raise adolescents' trends to shop online based on the literature and a developed instrument.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"99 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123125897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TQM has become progressively more effective as organizations focus more on improving the quality of their products, services and internal operations to increase value to customers and gain competitive advantage. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyse these TQM components in a semiconductor manufacturing firm in Malaysia and to determine its role in terms of engineering project performance. These components include leadership, customer/supplier focus and relations, employee relations and teamwork. Semi-structured interviews are conducted with project team leaders in the semiconductor manufacturing firm to obtain insights on the role of TQM on engineering project performance. It is found that although leadership, customer/supplier relations and employee relations play an overwhelmingly significant role in enhancing engineering project performance, more emphasis is still needed on these components in order to further improve or maximize the implementation of TQM to its' fullest extent.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125232580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presence of Co in the cemented tungsten carbide substrate has a negative influence on the diamond deposition process. High Co content in the substrates has proved to be very deteriorating for the adhesion of diamond coatings. The surface treatments (single step pretreatment) leading to both Co removal and the roughening of the substrate surface can ensure adequate adhesion levels of the diamond coatings deposited onto WC-Co substrates. The factors investigated were acid temperature, etching time, concentration of H2O2 and concentration H2SO4. The Co content and surface roughness were the response variables investigated. The experimental plan was based on the face central composite design (CCD). The experimental results indicate that the proposed mathematical models suggested could adequately describe the performance indicators within the limits of the factors that are being investigated. The acid temperature is the most significant factor that influences the surface roughness and the Co content. The etching time provided secondary contribution to the responses investigated. Additionally, the square of the acid temperature also provided secondary contribution to the surface roughness. The reduced quadratic model developed using RSM were reasonably accurate and can be used for prediction within the limits of the factor investigated.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"36 15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125277260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ICT applications adopted by the courts are varied including access to legal materials, high technology information and evidence display systems, electronic filing, foreign language translation, multimedia court records, information and evidence retrieval, audio conferencing, video conferencing and the public's access to court information via the worldwide web. Drawn from an ongoing research, this paper aims to highlight that the growing adoption of ICT by the courts in many jurisdictions in fact raises several issues of security risks. This paper begins by illustrating the concept of courtroom technology and the current technical applications available in the Malaysian courts. The examination of the emergence of non-legal risks closely connected to security and the legal risk raised by courtroom technology is mediated through the understanding of several basic security control requirements involving authentication, non-repudiation, confidentiality, data integrity and privacy encroachment. The paper contends that despite the common notion that law will always lag behind technology, the courts would need to understand these legal and non-legal security risks and manage them in the most efficient and effective manner if judicial business were to be continually advanced by the ICT.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126108577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, the DS X̅ chart is typically designed under the assumption of known parameters. Nevertheless, the actual process parameters are rarely known in practice and are usually estimated from an in-control reference Phase I sample. In this paper, we discuss the effects of parameter estimation on the performance of the DS X̅ chart, for both the in-control and out-of-control situations. It is found that the in-control and out-of-control performances are significantly different from the case when parameters are known, especially when the shifts and the sample sizes are small. In light of these unfavorable performances, the Phase-I sample-size recommendations are provided for practitioners in designing the DS X̅ chart with estimated parameters, so that satisfactory performances as the case with known parameters are attained.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129853773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identifying and analyzing major determinants of the firm's internal and external factors are crucial in order to ease the complexity in global market expansion. This paper identifies the relative importance of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT's) related to the internationalization of Malaysian contractors. Responses were received from thirty one (31) Class A and Grade 7 Malaysian construction firms registered with CIDB Malaysia in 2010. The findings reveal that “good track record”, “specialist expertise” and “international network” were the most influential strength factors for the firms to effectively compete in international market. However, “shortage of financial resources” as well as “material and labor resources” contributed to the weaknesses in exploring international market. The study also reveals that “opening up new market”, “technological advancement” and “beneficiary international agreements” offered huge opportunities in overseas market. Nevertheless, factors such as “bribery in the host country”, “increase of interest rate” and “lack of awareness” were perceived as the threats due to difficulties in dealing with moral problems, financial risks and unfamiliar environment within the host country. Finally, this study is of relevance to Malaysian construction firms as it systematically highlights the internal and external factors those may affect their performance in international market. These findings may assist them to make necessary preparatory works by enhancing the strengths, reducing the weaknesses, seizing the opportunities and facing the threats in international market, as these elements are consistently changing.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129467309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The graph coloring heuristics were set as individual, combination of two heuristics and combination of three heuristics. In addition, several steps of courses assignment were applied to all the settings. All settings of heuristics are then tested on the same curriculum-based problem instances and are compared with each other in terms of number of population produced. The results can be used for improvement phase which are the second phase of UCTP. This approach allows generalization over a set of problems instead of producing feasible timetables for some of the problems only. Future work will use the best settings of heuristic to the improvement phase in population-based improvement algorithm.","PeriodicalId":117572,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Innovation Management and Technology Research","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116197767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
