Tajā darbojušies dažādu profesiju sporta entuziasti, tostarp inženieri. Sporta dzīvē nozīmīgs bija biedrības 1910. gadā uzceltais nams Rīgā, Baldones ielā 7, kas līdz mūsdienām vairākkārt pārbūvēts. Pētījumā rodams bagātīgs materiāls par biedrību un tās namu līdz vācbaltiešu izceļošanai 1939. gadā. Izmantojot Latvijas Nacionālā arhīva Latvijas Valsts vēstures arhīva (LNA LVVA) dokumentus un preses materiālus, Rīgas Būvvaldes arhīva dokumentus, kā arī Latvijas Sporta muzeja krājumu, atklāti agrāk nezināmi fakti.\u0000\u0000Āgenskalns Gymnastics and Sports Society was one of the largest and best-known Baltic-German sports organizations in the first half of the 20th century. Sports enthusiasts of various professions, including engineers, participated in the activities of this society. The house built by the Society in 1910 at 7 Baldones Street, Riga, which has been rebuilt several times, played an important role in the sports life. The research presents comprehensive documentary evidence about the Society until the repatriation of the Baltic-Germans in 1939 and the history of its headquarters building. Privātdocenta statuss salīdzināts ar citu pasaules valstu, galvenokārt vācu tipa universitātēm. Jēdzienu «venia legendi» un «privātdocents» skaidrojumi ar piemēriem no Rīgas Politehnikuma (RP) mācībspēku darbības atspoguļo šos jēdzienus no dažādiem aspektiem, lai 21. gadsimtā būtu saprotams to lietojums iepriekšējos gadsimtos. Autors pētījumam izmantojis arhīvu dokumentus un bibliotēku krājumus, balstoties ne tikai Latvijas, bet arī Krievijas, Vācijas un citu valstu zinātnieku atziņās.\u0000\u0000The study examines the status of a private docent, the academic position which was introduced across the world in the 18th century and which also existed in Latvia from the second half of the 19th century until the end of World War II. The status of the private docent as it used to be understood in Latvia is compared with other countries, mainly considering German-type universities. Definition of the terms «venia legendi» and «private docent» providing examples of academic activity of the lecturers of Riga Polytechnicum (RP) allow considering these concepts from various perspectives in order to make their meaning and usage in the previous centuries transparent for the users in the 21st century. Viņš studējis Rīgas Politehniskajā institūtā (RPI), Pirmā pasaules kara laikā uzturējies Krievijā. Pēc atgriešanās Latvijā 1919. gada sākumā absolvējis Baltijas Tehnisko augstskolu (BTA), kas bija nodibināta uz RPI bāzes. J. Jagars darbojās Latvijas Sociāldemokrātiskajā strādnieku partijā (LSDSP), ar tās atbalstu kļuva par Rīgas pilsētas Būvvaldes vadītāju, pēc Kārļa Ulmaņa (1877–1942) organizētā valsts apvērsuma tika apcie¬tināts, pēc tam – atbrīvots un vadījis inženieru biroju, 1940. gada jūnijā iekļauts Augusta Kirhenšteina (1872–1963) vadītajā valdībā, ieņemot satiksmes ministra amatu. Otrā pasaules kara laikā evakuējies uz Padomju Krieviju. Pēc kara J. Ja¬gars bija Latvijas Valsts universitātes (LVU) docents, strādāja dažādos celtniecī¬bas projektēšanas institūtos. \u0000\u0000The research reveals facts about the family of engineer Jānis Jagars (1894– 1970) and the versatility of his work in the 20th century. He studied at Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and stayed in Russia during World War I. After returning to Latvia in the beginning of 1919, he graduated from the Baltic Technical University (BTU; Baltische Technische Hochschule, also Baltic Higher Technical School), which was established on the basis of RPI. J. Jagars participated in the activities of the Latvian Social Democratic Workers’ Party (LSDWP), which supported his becoming the Head of the Riga City Construction Board. After the coup organized by Kārlis Ulmanis (1877–1942) he was arrested, then – released, after which he headed an engineering office. In June 1940, he joined the government headed by Augusts Kirhenšteins (1872–1963), where he held the position of Minister of Transport. He evacuated to the Soviet Russia during World War II. After the war, J. Raksta autors analizē pasaulē izdotos aeronautikas periodiskos izdevumus no 1783. līdz 1945. gadam, pieņemot, ka attiecīgajā valstī publicēto aeronautikai nozīmīgo periodisko izdevumu skaits un dažādība ir atkarīga no gaisa spēku attīstības līmeņa tajā. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka dominē četru valstu – Francijas, Vācijas, Lielbritānijas un Amerikas Savienoto Valstu – periodiskie izdevumi, un tas ir trīs ceturtdaļas no visiem aeronautikai veltītajiem izdevumiem pasaulē. 1945. gadā, pētāmā perioda beigās, šīs četras valstis kopā ar Padomju Savienību un Japānu bija dominējošās valstis pasaulē gan civilajā, gan militārajā gaisa spēku jomā. Pētījumā analizēti ne tikai periodiskie izdevumi dažādos laika periodos, bet arī to iedalījums pa galvenajām tēmām.Periodical publications have played an important role in the development of aeronautics, providing a platform for scientific exchange and informing the public about the ongoing progress. This study analyzes periodicals covering the issues related to aeronautics from 1783 to 1945 on a worldwide scale. It assumes that the number and diversification of periodicals dedicated to aeronautics published in a given country depend directly on the level of development of air power in that country. The result shows that periodicals from only four countries dominated, three fourths of all titles published coming from France, Germany, Great Britain and the United States. In 1945, by the end of the period under study, these four countries, together with the Soviet Union and Japan, were also the world’s dominant air powers in terms of both civil and military air activities. Dzīvojot un strādājot padomju varas gados, arhitekte projektējusi gan dzīvojamās, gan sabiedriskās ēkas, kas joprojām tiek izmantotas un kuru kultūrvēsturiskās nozīmes līmenis laika gaitā ir noteikti audzis. Atpazīstamākais arhitektes projektētais objekts ir Rīgas Politehniskā institūta (RPI), tagad Rīgas Tehniskās universitātes (RTU), studentu pilsētiņa Ķīpsalā. Pie tās projektēšanas D. Danneberga strādāja no 1969. līdz 1986. gadam. Arhitekte izstrādājusi arī vairāku citu mācību iestāžu, kā arī sabiedrisko un dzīvojamo ēku projektus, kas realizēti gan Latvijā, gan ārpus tās.The article reflects the contribution of the renowned Latvian architect Daina Danneberga to Latvian architecture, as well as the significant events and growth of her life. While living and working in Soviet times, the architect has designed both residential and public buildings, which are still in use and whose cultural and historical significance has surely increased over time. The most recognizable object designed by the architect is the Student Campus of Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI), now Riga Technical University (RTU), on the Ķīpsala Island. It was designed by D. Danneberga from 1969 to 1986. Baumaņa dzīves darbību, iepazīstināt lasītājus ar latviešu uzņēmēju un izanalizēt problēmas, ar kurām viņam bija jāsastopas uzņēmējdarbībā un pedagoģijā starpkaru laikā.Engineer, entrepreneur and teacher Augusts Baumanis (1883–1966) is one of the graduates of Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI) who were renown in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century, Latvia’s growth without his activities is unthinkable. After graduating from the Department of Chemistry (1913) of RPI, he worked in Russia. In 1919, after returning to Latvia, A. Baumanis became involved in oil production and in export of wooden boards. From 1928 to 1931, he travelled around South Africa with his family and worked in gold mines. After returning to Latvia, he started to work as a teacher. The aim of the article is to reveal the life of engineer A. K. Reisons bija viens no spilgtākajiem 20. gadsimta starpkaru perioda Lietuvas modernās arhitektūras radītājiem, kopā ar citiem slaveniem Lietuvas arhitektiem veidoja īpašo starpkaru perioda Kauņas modernās arhitektūras stilu. K. Reisons ir reprezentatīvu celtņu Šauļos, Kauņā un citās Lietuvas pilsētās, kā arī Rīgā un Adelaidā autors vai līdzautors. Arhitekts un inženieris K. Reisons strādāja par Šauļu pilsētas inženieri un pašvaldības Būvniecības nodaļas vadītāju (1922–1930), Šauļu arodskolas direktoru (1926), Lietuvas Lauksaimniecības kameras konsultantu (1927–1928), Kauņas pašvaldības Būvniecības nodaļas vadītāju (1930–1938), Panevēžas inženieri (1940) un birģermeistaru (1941–1944). No 1949. gada Reisonu ģimene dzīvoja Adelaidā, Austrālijā. Pēc viņa projektiem Lietuvā uzcelti trīs neatkarības pieminekļi – Šauļu Neatkarības piemineklis, Kauņas Brīvības pieminekļa postaments un Kauņas Romas katoļu Kristus Augšāmcelšanās baznīca. 14 no viņa projektētām celtnēm Kauņā un Šauļos ir iekļautas Lietuvas nekustamo kultūras vērtību sarakstā. Agrīniem K. Reisona projektiem raksturīgs historisms, eklektisma elementi, «ķieģeļu stils», vēlākie projekti iezīmējas ar modernismam raksturīgu askētisko racionālismu, funkcionālismu, piemērošanos pie pilsētbūvnieciskā un kultūrvēsturiskā konteksta.\u0000\u0000The article introduces the professional activities of Latvian-born Lithuanian architect and engineer Karolis Reisonas (in Latvian: Kārlis Reisons; 1894–1981) in the second half of his life – from 1930 in Kaunas, Panevėžys and Adelaide cities – and his role in the history of Lithuanian architecture. K. Reisonas was one of the most prominent creators of modern 20th-century interwar Lithuanian architecture and together with other famous Lithuanian architects formed a special style of Kaunas modern architecture in interwar period. K. Reisonas is the author or co-author of representative buildings in Šiauliai, Kaunas and other Lithuanian cities, as well as in Riga and Adelaide cities. Architect and engineer K. Reisonas worked as Šiauliai City Engineer and Head of Municipal Construction Department (1922–1930), Director of Šiauliai Vocational School (1926), Consultant of Lithuanian Chamber of Agriculture (1927–1928), Head of Construction Department of Kaunas Municipality (1930–1938), Panevėžys City Engineer (1940) and Burgomaster (1941–1944). From 1949, the Reisonas family lived in Adelaide city, Australia. To his projects three monuments of independence were built in Lithuania – Monument of Independence in Šiauliai city, Podium of the Freedom Monument of Kaunas city and Roman Catholic Christ’s Resurrection Church in Kaunas city. Darbojās dažādās sabiedriskās organizācijās. Inženiera darbu turpina viņa pēcnācēji – mazbērni un mazmazbērni. Rigan, the graduate of the Department of Engineering (1914) of Riga Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Mikhail Krivoshapkin, after studies worked as an engineer in Russia, where he built elevators. From 1920 until deportation to Siberia in 1941 he lived in Riga and was the author of several bridge projects in Latvia, worked as an engineer at Riga Construction Board, was a member of the Riga City Council (1925–1934). Worked in various public organizations.
