The main reason for the mass protests after the presidential elections was the lack of confidence in the electoral system of the republic. The recent history of the republic has not yet known such an intense and long protest marathon. Nevertheless by the beginning of 2021, the protest potential was almost exhausted. In the republic, the preparation of a constitutional reform for the implementation of the transit of power has begun.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125841035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author pays attention to the spread of the disease in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, the measures taken by the state authorities against the epidemic. A large place is devoted to the demonstrations of citizens against anti-COVID restrictions. In addition, the process of vaccination and the resistance to the latter on the part of citizens, expressed in crowded rallies, are considered. All this together led to an increase in social tension in the region. However, in each of the states of the South Caucasus the considered processes had their own characteristics.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129951727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sanctions as an instrument of influence aim to change the internal political course in the sanctioned country and are one of the additional levers to influence the partner countries. Kazakhstan is one of its main partners of Russia in the Eurasian Economic Union, and bilateral trade, economic, and investment relations are actively developing. The article discusses how sanctions have affected bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. The data of national statistics as well as of the National Bank of Kazakhstan were used. At the same time one of the threats to bilateral relations are the statements of several political actors, political scientists and political technologists of the Russian Federation.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130044708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Formally remaining outside the conflict, the United States is taking an active part in it, providing unprecedented military assistance to Ukraine. The main task of the American leadership is to inflict strategic defeats on Russia without endangering its own territory. On the Ukrainian front, the existential issue of preserving the positions of global dominance for the United States is being resolved, while for Russia this is a matter of preserving its statehood. The stakes for both sides are very high, and their interests are diametrically opposed. Therefore, it is difficult to count on a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict in the foreseeable future.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129323952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main focus is on the main areas of cooperation: economic, political, cultural, military-technical. The formation of the interests of bilateral relations under the influence of internal and external factors is considered, since without understanding the goals, objectives and position of each individual state, it is difficult to count on the development of the optimal foreign policy course and concept of cooperation. Despite some difficulties, at this stage the relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan are becoming increasingly consistent, stable and pragmatic. The legal basis for cooperation is being improved, a common educational, cultural and technological space is being formed, logistical corridors are being developed, and measures are being actively shaped to prevent and eliminate security threats in the region.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"211 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115937390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main actors and beneficiaries of the unblocking are identified with the definition of their national transport interests. The role of Russia in the settlement of the conflict, as well as in the formation of a new geopolitical architecture in the South Caucasus is determined. Various scenarios of transport unblocking in the region are analyzed in the context of the formation of two international transport and logistics corridors – North–South and East–West. Prospects and possibilities of integration of the South Caucasus countries into the indicated corridors are considered. It is shown that the unblocking process is currently fragmented, since the main scenarios for its implementation are built only on the prospects for restoring transport links in certain directions, which does not allow to speak now about the ongoing policy of a comprehensive unblocking of communications in the region. The main problems of using the existing transport arteries, in particular, the international highway Goris–Kapan, are studied.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132050675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
