Sanctions pressure and isolation from the West have become a factor contributing to the consolidation of the positions of the two countries within the framework of the Union State. In the new conditions, the role of the Union State as the main platform for Russian-Belarusian cooperation has increased. The Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation have taken concrete actions to expand economic, scientific and technical cooperation in the field of import substitution, as well as to deepen their integration.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122609788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being situated between the two strategic security actors in Europe, Moldova since the early 2000s has become increasingly dependent on the state of their relations, which had a direct impact on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, complicating the chances for its comprehensive resolution. The growth of confrontation between Russia and the EU led to breaks of the negotiation process and its stagnation. Escalation of the Ukrainian crisis increased pressure on Transnistria and complicated military and political risks in the region. In the current circumstances, there is a real danger of “unfreezing” of the protracted Transnistrian conflict, which seemed almost impossible in the previous geopolitical conditions.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"263 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131601305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the attitude of the Central Asian republics to the new government is significantly different. While Tajikistan is not yet ready to establish ties with the Taliban, Uzbekistan, interested in economic projects with Afghanistan, aims to develop good-neighborly relations with the Taliban. In the context of the aggravation of the situation on the southern borders of the CIS, cooperation between Russia and the countries of the region in the field of security is strengthening, which increases its role in Central Asia. Having carried out the withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan, the United States does not abandon its attempts to gain a foothold in the region, seeking to involve the Central Asian countries in solving their problems. At the same time, proposals are being put forward that may create additional difficulties for the Central Asian republics.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"2022 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114048088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mutual trade in goods and services, investment cooperation and joint entrepreneurship are considered. The analysis carried out demonstrates the unevenness of economic ties with individual states of the region, their lower intensity compared to aggregate indicators in the long term, but significant acceleration over the past decade, which makes it possible to predict an increase in the intensity of cooperation in the medium term.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124714016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The updated program of recovery, sustainability, and reforms, supported by an economic and investment plan, does not justify all its efforts. It also can reform the EU’s relations with its Eastern partners and make them more depoliticized. This may lead to the fact that the EU will further reduce its transformational ambitions. And this, in turn, will call into question the fundamental aspect of his foreign policy identity – the role of the EU as a transformative force. In other words, such a development could not only weaken the EU’s role in Eastern Partnership countries, but also undermine the value of its foreign policy.","PeriodicalId":114903,"journal":{"name":"Russia and New States of Eurasia","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125152009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
