We are talking about the subjective nature of the perception of space by the characters of two stories. The author of the first of them, “Podmiot”, is the Polish writer and psychologist Olga Tokarczuk. The author of the second, “The Incredible Story of the «Pocket Oracle»”, is Ukrainian writer and literary critic Oleksandr Mikhed. The key event in each of the stories is the destruction of the boundary between literature and reality, between the author and his hero. In the story by Olga Tokarchuk, the character of the autobiographical novel, like a shadow from H. K. Andersen’s fairy tale, tries to capture the living space of his creator, to replace him. In Alexander Mikhed’s story, the real person – the reader – identified himself so much with the hero of the young writer’s novel that he even went to commit the murder of the author in order to save a fictional character, believing that in this way he can protect his own life from the arbitrariness of the one who invented this character. Various motivations for what happens in the stories are offered. The destruction of the boundary between the fictional and real worlds in both stories may be a result of reflection of how the authors see the process of artistic creation; it may be connected with artistic study of the mental state of the characters; the inclusion of fantastic motifs may be an allusion to the famous works of romantic writers. Mainly the author of the article connects this process in both stories with the actual problem of modern philosophy – transgression. It, in turn, is directly related to many questions that we are trying to find an answer to. In particular, are the boundaries between fiction and reality so strong, and is there really such a different space (dimension) in which literary characters are no less real than ourselves.","PeriodicalId":113251,"journal":{"name":"Odessa National University Herald. Attention was paid to intertextuality, which appears as one of the author’s principles of modeling the past. It has been established that each of the writer’s four historical novels («Six Days, or the Crown of the Ostrozky House» (2010), «Strong and Lonely» (2011), «Danilo Ostrozky: the image that is beated by beads» (2016) and «True Mazepa» (2017)) contains intertextual relations, which indicates the dialogic nature of P. Kraljuk in relation to documents and other literary works. It is emphasized that «Strong and Lonely» compared to the author’s other novels is relatively close to the present in time, which determines its relevance. It is emphasized that the leader of Ukrainian nationalism Stepan Bandera (1909–1959) is the main character of the above-mentioned work of the writer. «Strong and Lonely» contains allusions (hints, references) that have been assigned to different groups (literary, biblical, mythological, personal). In this work of P. Kraljuk, a reminiscence (echo) is singled out, which reminds the reader of the novel «Garden of Gethsemane» (1950) by Ivan Bahrianyi. The last intertextual device in «Strong and Lonely» is a quotation, which is already present at the paratextual level of the work (title and epigraph). In the reader’s response to P. Kraljuk’s novel, the frequency of citations was not overlooked. The article highlighted two large blocks o fcitations in «Strong and Lonely»: literary works and historical documents with monuments.","PeriodicalId":113251,"journal":{"name":"Odessa National University Herald. It is not only about the actual literary understanding of the parabola as a stylistic device, with the help of which foreign language expression is carried out, but also about a mathematical graph – a curved curve, divided at the point of intersection into two symmetrical branches. In the structure of the evangelical parable, these branches can be represented as real-factographic and symbolic interpretive plans, between which there is a direct semantic dependence. All narrative situations that make up the real plan of the parable and are represented by the right branch of the parabola must be interpreted in the same sequence to build a symmetrical left branch. In the article, the parabolic structure of two symmetrical plans is demonstrated on the example of two gospel parables well-known in culture: The Parable of the Prodigal Son [Luk. 15, 11 32] and Proverbs about ten virgins [Matt. 15, 1–11]. Obviously, a similar way of interpretive reading of the Gospel parables can be qualified as a fullfledged hermeneutic technique of analysis of other biblical works.","PeriodicalId":113251,"journal":{"name":"Odessa National University Herald. In this regard, the development of the analysis of discourse in France is significant, where the main body of ideas that influenced the idea of discursivity in a number of other countries, was formed. The convergence of the principles of poetics and discursivity studies emphasizes the prospect of an active appeal of literary thought to the ideas of discursology and the formation of directly literary strategies for the analysis of discourse. Of greater interest is the distinction between the potentials of the study of discourse by linguistics and literary criticism, to one degree or another, shown in the works of M. Pecheux, M. Foucault, J. Jeanette, P. Sériot, R. Robin, J. Kristeva. The positions of R. Barthes, A. J. Greimas and J. Fontanille, J. Guiehaumou and D. Maldidier were also taken into account. The perspective of the study carried out within the framework of this article focused on the wide analytical spectrum within the framework of literary discursology. The appropriateness of the approach to discursivity was understood, which not only touches on the aspects of the identification of the subject and the conceptual atmosphere of the cultural situation, but also interacts them in depth. The idea of M. Foucault became controversial, which made it possible to comprehend the ways of literary study of discourse. With this approach, the object of discourse is correlated with the dogmas of the cultural era, which determines the transformation of discourse in connection with key ideas, ideas and social norms. In this article was revealed The importance of the intertextual potential of discursivity and mutual conditionality by the context. The connection of discourse with the unconscious was also considered, allowing you to focus on the significance of subtext for analyzing discursivity in general and directly when understanding a specific object of discourse.","PeriodicalId":113251,"journal":{"name":"Odessa National University Herald. The conclusion is made that the story contains allusions to Dante Alighieri’s poem “The Divine Comedy” and its second part “Purgatory”. Therefore, the main methods of the study were intertextual and typological. The article emphasizes that the importance of the resonance of T. Ligotti’s story with this part of the Divine Comedy lies in the fact that Dante introduced the image of Purgatory (officially, the Catholic Church recognized its existence after his death) as an image of a place of hope and salvation, repentance and choice, where the souls of the repentant can work on their final redemption. All this is relevant to the story of the protagonist Ligotti. The main attention of the author of the article was focused on the study of the figurative system of the work, namely, the images of the narrator and the narrator, as well as Miss Peak, the owner of the hotel, whose stay had fatal consequences for the narrator. The description of the appearance, clothing, and movements of the characters in both works is studied. It is concluded that the use of allegories, metaphors and symbolism from Dante’s poem gave the author of the story the opportunity not only to reveal the themes of atonement, purification and the consequences of sin, which are central to Dante’s work, but also to give the events and images of his work a universal meaning. The novelty of the article lies in the fact that this is the first experience of identifying signs of Ligotti’s appeal to Dante.","PeriodicalId":113251,"journal":{"name":"Odessa National University Herald.
