Attention was paid to intertextuality, which appears as one of the author’s principles of modeling the past. It has been established that each of the writer’s four historical novels («Six Days, or the Crown of the Ostrozky House» (2010), «Strong and Lonely» (2011), «Danilo Ostrozky: the image that is beated by beads» (2016) and «True Mazepa» (2017)) contains intertextual relations, which indicates the dialogic nature of P. Kraljuk in relation to documents and other literary works. It is emphasized that «Strong and Lonely» compared to the author’s other novels is relatively close to the present in time, which determines its relevance. It is emphasized that the leader of Ukrainian nationalism Stepan Bandera (1909–1959) is the main character of the above-mentioned work of the writer. «Strong and Lonely» contains allusions (hints, references) that have been assigned to different groups (literary, biblical, mythological, personal). In this work of P. Kraljuk, a reminiscence (echo) is singled out, which reminds the reader of the novel «Garden of Gethsemane» (1950) by Ivan Bahrianyi. The last intertextual device in «Strong and Lonely» is a quotation, which is already present at the paratextual level of the work (title and epigraph). In the reader’s response to P. Kraljuk’s novel, the frequency of citations was not overlooked.
