To accomplish such objective this paper explains the theories involved, as well as the methodologies, processes, methods and the context of the applications. Therefore, three distinct use cases and practical applications developed are presented for the following scenarios: face-to-face secondary education, university education and technical secondary distance education. In this context, we seek to generate practical methodologies for exploring data from different educational databases and contexts, focusing on generating early warning models for school dropout. Thus, this paper presents the results obtained in these applications, the similarities and differences among them according 19 technical aspects (existence of temporality in the data, size of the databases, existence of multiple data sources, techniques used, among others). Lastly, the thesis establishes the scientific contribution and future work related to the topic.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121534162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the high density of information found online and with the impact of data flood, there is a need for the integration of relevant data for the common user. Towards this scenario, there is a high rate of students taking classes in high school, although they have not yet decided their area studies, despite the amount of resources available, there is a lack of reliability and dispersion of these data, which makes this choice difficult. As a solution method, it is proposed to build an application that integrates the necessary data to assist the student's choice, indicating, through the platform which is the average wage in the area (from internship to senior), which colleges in the region offer the course (separating them between public, private and federal), their applicant per place relation and what are the possible areas of expertise. For this, it's imposed the use of an information collector in every course to populate a database and show them individually in each page of the application.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"474 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127555747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such involvement is not carried out as expected, mainly since there are not enough mechanisms to foster the inclusion of professors and students. It is widely known that many members of the academic and student community lack training or a knowledge base regarding the development of scientific research. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for research that enables to get knowledge in research activities targeted at university students and professors to improve individual and institutional productivity in research. The proposed framework is developed using a methodology of 5 phases: 1) literature review; 2) study of methodological frames; 3) definition of framework components; 4) implementation plan; and 5) validation of the framework. The approach of the framework has been evaluated by experts with extensive and recognized experience in developing research and managing research directions in universities. According to the results of the evaluation by experts, the framework enables to set the path to develop and increase the capabilities in research of the community of professors and students. However, being a conceptual framework, it requires yet more detail in the specification of each process to be implemented appropriately.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114900461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this way, the research aimed to research and present how comics are used as an educational instrument, analyzing their reflexes in the teaching and learning processes. Using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Google Scholar databases, in the time frame 2018 to 2022, the selected articles were manually reviewed, and then, the data were treated qualitatively. From the survey, it was observed that most of the articles analyzed address elementary and secondary education, and, in a more subtle way, higher education. It was also observed that most of the analyzed articles work on a specific theme from different disciplines, highlighting the area of chemistry, biology and mathematics, in a contextualized, everyday and playful way.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128386631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was based on a quantitative approach; the participants were 37 engineering students who had just entered university; also, the Pearson correlation statistical test was used to assess the relationship between computational thinking and problem- resolve. The activities of the technological projects have been developed using technological resources, such as the Arduino board, the mBlock software, and electronic sensors. It has been shown that following the problem-solving method based on the four phases contributes to the development of computational thinking skills in engineering students who have recently entered university.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"478 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116168955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present work compares the results of two different algorithms used to generate predictive models to early detect students at-risk, LSTM and Adaboost. This comparison aims to improve the performances of the models already implemented and integrated on a Moodle dashboard. For the comparison, data from a total of 122 students was collected from Moodle over four semester of an Introductory Programming course offered at Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Models were generated for each one of the 17 weeks of the semester, and their AUROC measures were then calculated and compared to evaluate the differences between LSTM and Adaboost. The results have shown that even though LSTM models presented a better performance than Adaboost, these differences were not statistically significant.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124517207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, development and assessment remain complex, because the conditions must be in place to foster collaboration and individualize aspects of the behavior of each member of the collaborative activity. This article presents a framework for real-time evaluation of collaboration in face-to-face environments based on nonverbal communication. The framework considers collecting voices and videos from members and delivering visualizations based on six collaboration constructs. In addition, an implementation of the framework was designed and developed for validation with education professionals. The results suggest that the proposed visualizations might be helpful for educators to get insights into the cognitive contributions and team integration in collaboration.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"1274 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121681830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such misalignment produces a constantly increasing technical labor supply gap. In this sense, the Academy has developed approaches to bring professional training closer to market needs. One of them is the Software Residency, which is practiced in some universities as a postgraduate, inspired by the example of the health area. The objective of this article is to present an experience report with the Software Residency developed for undergraduate students, in a context that allows working alternatives to minimize this professional gap, especially in the area of Software Engineering. Timely feedback is considered a powerful means for developing these skills, and learning analytics (LA) is a promising approach for high-quality and scalable feedback. This paper presents a systematic literature review on LA feedback tools to improve SRL skills in HE hereby contributing to the understanding of the current state of the art and the identification of remaining existing gaps. After reviewing 31 articles, our results indicate that research on LA feedback tools to support SRL is relatively limited and these investigations often lack a solid theoretical basis in SRL. We also found that these LA feedback tools are mostly targeted to students, and that there is a limited evaluation of the impact of these LA feedback tools. This systematic literature review calls to action to perform empirical research for measuring the impact of these tools.","PeriodicalId":111811,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVII Latin American Conference on Learning Technologies (LACLO)","volume":"92 s1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132273338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
