Software Residency Practices as a Complement to the Teaching-Learning Process in Software Engineering: An Experience Report
The Brazilian IT market has been showing signs of misalignment about the professional training offered by the Academy and the needs that organizations demand. Such misalignment produces a constantly increasing technical labor supply gap. In this sense, the Academy has developed approaches to bring professional training closer to market needs. One of them is the Software Residency, which is practiced in some universities as a postgraduate, inspired by the example of the health area. The objective of this article is to present an experience report with the Software Residency developed for undergraduate students, in a context that allows working alternatives to minimize this professional gap, especially in the area of Software Engineering. The study describes the implementation of a Software Residency module offered to undergraduate technology students at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and discusses the initial results of this project.
