We project depth images onto three orthogonal planes and calculate the Motion History Image (MHI) of each projection to generate the 3 views MHI (3VMHI). Pyramid Histogram of Oriented Gradients (PHOG) is used to extract the features of the 3VMHI. Then, 3VMHI and PHOG are used together as a combined spacetime descriptor for gesture recognition. We provide a method to extract different gestures from a single video. Consecutive frame difference is employed to perform informative frame selection, which is able to remove uninformative frames. The experimental results on two challenging datasets demonstrate that our approach is effective and efficient.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115317016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Advantages and disadvantages of this imitation are analyzed and an improved frequency error integral regulation method for islanded microgrid operation is proposed in this paper. The proposed control strategy can implement no-error adjustment of microgrid frequency. In order to overcome the drawbacks of low inertia of microgrid, motion equation of rotor of synchronous generator (SG) is supplemented to the proposed frequency control strategy, which can make frequency to reach a new steady state relatively slowly while loads fluctuate rapidly. Therefore, stability of frequency in microgrid is thus improved. Typical operation states of microgrid operated in islanded mode, such as load random fluctuation, are simulated based on MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation studies prove the effectiveness of the proposed frequency control strategy.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116953075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address the issue we propose the fast evaluation method for iris quality by sharpness in this paper. In our method, ROI (Region of Interests) is located firstly and then Brenner operator is utilized to evaluate quality of iris images. Experimental results reveal that our proposal has less computation load and high processing speed than compared methods. So it is necessary to evaluate the iris image quality before recognition, and sharpness evaluation is one important part of it. As some previous algorithms used the method of locating first then extracting the region of interest takes more time, this paper proposes a faster approach to evaluate the definition of iris image. First extract the region of interest (ROI) based on experience, then use brenner operator to evaluate the iris image's definition. Experimental results reveal that our proposal has the characteristics of less calculation, high velocity and more effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117260612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This task is computation and data intensive, and requires significant processing time in sequential manner. In order to accelerate signature matching of giga-bit network traffic, we aim to exploit the inherent parallelism of signature matching through the use of parallel graphics processor units. In this paper, we present detailed analysis of signature matching along with the system design for parallel graphics processors(GPUs). The signature matching schema proposed is based on port matching and keyword matching in each packet header. A real system on graphics processor units was implemented to evaluate the efficacy of our design. Experimental results proved that signature matching can be efficiently done on graphics processor units.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"80 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125890217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared with the traditional Compressed Sensing (CS) technique, it reduces the computational complexity and improves the efficiency of the reconstruction. However, the reconstruction quality of BCS is deteriorated to some degree. In order to improve the reconstruction quality of BCS, a new method based on human visual characteristics is proposed following the analysis of the DCT coefficients of an image. In the new method is introduced the contrast sensitivity in Watson visual model, indicating that the human eyes have different sensitivity to different DCT coefficients. To each element of the observation matrix in the same image block is assigned different weights based on visual characteristics. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can not only effectively improve the image reconstruction quality, but also have better subjective visual effect.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114909394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, low-level motion features are detected and denoised. The residual low level feature is then mapped into visual words using a novel adaptive quantization method. The first level latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA) model is applied to automatically cluster visual words into atomic activities. Afterwards, the second level latent Dirichlet allocation model is used to cluster atom activity into interactions. Therefore video clips are represented as a mixture of interactions. The results of the real world traffic datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"2001 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128283307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aiming at the disadvantages of PSO algorithm, this paper came up with an improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm. Firstly, it improved the particle population and initial position, and introduced weight coefficient in iterative process of evolution, which made the particles search process more reasonable and avoided premature convergence, secondly, it introduced the mutation operation to prevent particle swarming into local optimum, and enhanced the global optimization ability of the algorithm. Through the simulation calculation of the IEEE 6 nodes system, the results showed that IPSO algorithm is more effective than PSO algorithm.","PeriodicalId":111582,"journal":{"name":"2013 2nd International Symposium on Instrumentation and Measurement, Sensor Network and Automation (IMSNA)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128284555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
