Three access interfaces were considered, namely the ac power grid interface, the dc-link interface and the dc battery interface, which allow the establishment of eight V2V configurations. The defined configurations are described and verified through computational simulations. A comparison is performed based on quantitative data, i.e., power transfer efficiency for a given output power range, and qualitative data, i.e., flexibility and safety. According to the obtained results, it can be concluded that each V2V configuration has its pros and cons regarding efficiency, number of possible quadrant operation and need for additional equipment.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132543668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the advantages and disadvantages that they have with respect to other topologies, from the point of view of their implementation, efficiency in the use of energy and its ability to connect large loads. On the other hand, for this type of networks the use of DC-DC converters is required to connect the different sources of distributed generation with guarantees so that the network as a whole can be managed automatically (Smartgrid), both in isolated mode and connected to the conventional AC network. In this line, three configurations of non-isolated DC-DC converters, of a bipolar input and output are presented. That allows connecting DC sources to the network in a controlled way. The behaviour of the converters is verified through a simulation platform based on MATLAB-Simulink and the experimental results will be presented.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"08 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130731700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, an economical and technical strategy developed. It focuses on finding proper EVCSs by EVOs determining optimal day-ahead electricity prices traded between all agents such that the rewards of EVCSs and EVOs are met multaneously. This optimal charging/discharging decision making and optimal day-ahead electricity prices are determined by level programming problem (BLPP). The outer level corresponds to the optimization problem of EVCSs and the inner level belongs to EVOs. Salp swarm optimization (SSO) algorithm is utilized to solve BLPP. Based on determination of minimum distance travelled by EVOs and optimal day-ahead electricity prices offered by EVCSs, the rewards of EVCSs and EVOs are analysed during charging/discharging period. For simulation purposes, case study based on San Francisco in US is presented to visualize and validate the modelling results. Six EVCSs are installed in Francisco for charging/discharging 247 EVs during 24 hours of typical day. Simulation results show that under implementing proposed charging/discharging strategy, the total cost of EVOs decreases by 17.8% and total revenue of EVCSs increases 18.2%, in comparison with not considering the proposed strategy.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"145 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130953967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, this topology is widely used for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications. To control this system, finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) has been assessed in previous research with promising results. In this paper, the dq-synchronous reference frame (dq-SRF) formulation of FCS-MPC and a state observer for an UPS system are presented and experimentally validated. The advantage of this proposal lies in the simplification of the observer design by considering a deadbeat observer along with the addition of a low-pass filter. In this way, the observer bandwidth is simply determined by the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter. Simulation and experimental results are compared to assess the performance of the proposed solution.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132796070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EVs can also flatten the power curve and increase the reliability of power grids when renewable energy sources are used. Despite of these benefits, EVs impose new loads on distribution networks. Simultaneous charging of EVs, especially at high penetration levels, can create new load peaks in the power curves as well as overloading transformers, shortening their service life. In actual applications, most electric cars are single-phase loads that need to be charged from household or commercial outlets. In this paper, an optimization method is presented to coordinate the dynamic charge operation of single-phase EVs in an unbalanced three-phase distribution network. In the proposed method, the main goal of charging management is to minimize the total cost, which considers both network security constraints and electric vehicle constraints. The proposed method is tested on a sample distribution network and the numerical results prove the effectiveness of the method.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115377870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A modular single-phase high efficiency AC-DC-AC power converter is the proposed solution, which satisfies the power quality requirements on both the input and output sides. The adopted structure consists of a PWM boost rectifier and a PWM voltage source inverter. After presenting the power system taking into account the imposed requirements, the influence of the inverter modulation index on the switching frequencies and losses and then on the efficiency is analyzed. The energetic performance of the system is evaluated through the complete Simulink model of the closed-loop system, when the main control loop is intended to the direct regulation of the load rms voltage. Compliance with the power quality norms is illustrated too.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121043241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Those turbines, especially tidal stream devices are by definition, located in often remote and inaccessible locations which in turn makes maintenance issues a challenge. It is therefore necessary to employ condition monitoring methodologies to flag issues before they become critical or catastrophic. Stator winding inter-turn insulation breakdown is a particular issue in PMSGs. This paper proposes a methodology for the early detection of inter-turn short circuits in real time thus allowing remedial action to be taken before further winding problems develop. The methodology is based on the fact that inter-turn short circuits cause a phase voltage imbalance. The case study details the use of an Arduino microcontroller to detect the phase voltage imbalance and signal the result in binary format to a programmable controller (PLC). The study indicated that the methodology is both feasible and robust for detecting stator phase winding inter-turn short circuits.","PeriodicalId":111104,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 14th International Conference on Compatibility, Power Electronics and Power Engineering (CPE-POWERENG)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123758640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
