Ten commercial resin composites were investigated (EverX Posterior & Flow; G-ænial Anterior, Posterior, A'CHORD & Universal Injectable; Filtek One Bulk Fill & Universal Restorative; SDR flow+ and Aura Bulk Fill). Photoelastic and contraction forces measurement methods were performed. The slope of the linear trendline and C-factor of specimens were calculated. The shrinkage stress values (range between: 6.4-13.4 MPa) obtained by the photoelastic method were higher for all resin composites than the values obtained by contraction forces measurements (range between 1.2-4.8 MPa). However, there was a strong linear correlation between these methods (r=0.8). The use of both investigated methods revealed important information about the shrinkage behavior of the restorative resin composites.</p>","PeriodicalId":11065,"journal":{"name":"Dental materials journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2024-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139722040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cured resin composite rods were bonded to bovine dentin using RLCs in different etching modes. The morphological features at the interfaces were observed using SEM. This study aimed to investigate the effects of three vehicles, namely, polyethylene glycol (PEG), propylene glycol (PG), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), on the physicochemical properties and biocompatibility of pCSCs. The setting time, solubility, expansion rate, and mechanical strength of the pCSCs were evaluated, and the formation of calcium phosphate precipitates was assessed in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). The effects of pCSC extracts on the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were investigated. Finally, the tissue compatibility of pCSCs in rat femurs was observed. CSC containing PEG (CSC-PEG) exhibited higher solubility and setting time, and CSC-DMSO showed the highest expansion rate and mechanical strength. All pCSCs generated calcium phosphate precipitates. The extract of CSC-PG induced the highest expressions of osteogenic markers along with the greatest calcium deposites. When implanted in rat femurs, CSC-PEG was absorbed considerably, whereas CSC-PG remained relatively unaltered inside the femur.</p>","PeriodicalId":11065,"journal":{"name":"Dental materials journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2024-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140049038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated the most suitable reference gene for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in saliva that is not affected by vascular aging variables. Whole saliva samples were collected to assess the expression of reference genes: actin beta (ACTB), 18S ribosomal RNA (18S rRNA), beta-2-microglobulin, and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH). The most abundantly expressed gene was 18S rRNA, and the least expressed gene was GAPDH. Four genes were ranked according to their relative stability, as determined by mathematical algorithms, indicating that ACTB and 18S rRNA were stably expressed as reference genes. 18S rRNA was identified as the most promising reference gene for detecting systemic diseases using saliva from patients with vascular aging in these limited experimental conditions.</p>","PeriodicalId":11065,"journal":{"name":"Dental materials journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2024-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139511837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Surface properties were further analyzed using energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). A significant increase in Vickers hardness numbers was observed in the BioUnion filler GIC after 2 days. Therefore, elemental mapping analysis of anion exchange material, adsorption ratio, hDPSCs proliferation and ALP activity were evaluated.
