A BCI bypasses the neuromuscular system and provides a communication link, which directly connects the human brain to an external device. Each individual is able to control his EEG through imaginary motor act it supports to control devices. In this work for designing a BCI system five class motor imagery EEG is used. EEG recorded from the sensory motor cortex is analyzed using wavelet transform. Features extracted from the wavelet coefficients are classified using Support Vector Machine. In this work the motor imagery EEG signal is translated into control signal using a five class BCI to control the directional movement of a wheelchair.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128525187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The EEG provides a convenient window on the mind, revealing synaptic action that strongly co-relate with brain state. Fractal dimension, the measure of signal complexity can be used to characterize the physiological conditions of the brain. As the EEG signal is non linear, non stationary and noisy, non linear methods will be suitable for the analysis. In this paper Higuichi's fractal dimension analysis is applied to find the fractal dimension of EEG. EEGs of 10 volunteers were recorded at rest and on exposure to radio frequency (RF) emissions from mobile phones having different SAR values. Mobile phones were positioned first at the auricle and then next to Cz position. Fractal dimensions for all conditions are calculated and analyzed using F-test, In most of the cases, null hypothesis is rejected with 95% confidence. This statistical result shows that there are some changes in the FD while using mobile phone, which demonstrate transformation in the activities of brain due to radiation.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128085821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These straws are kept in liquid nitrogen for the straw content preservation purpose. Due to the liquid nitrogen characteristics and safety requirements for both semen straws as well as workers working in such an environment, a non-harming, rapid process for straw counting is required. So, straw counting using image processing algorithm is carried out. The counting problem is solved by using several image enhancement, image segmentation and object counting techniques. For the problem solving, many traditional methods like contrast stretching, thresholding, morphological processing as well as advanced methods like color based information removal and image enhancement using intensity factor are used.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124628082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since very long time the color optical flow strategy had been ignored. In this work, we are proposing a strategy which attempts to separate out the optical flow for each channels such as R, G and B through Horn-Schunk with Barren, Fleet and Beuchemin (BFB) kernel. Subsequently, obtained upshots are overlaid to get the rich information of the motion to detach the moving objects. Consequently the histograms of the moving objectss are employed to create the regression lines and extract product-moment correlation of each moving object. This coefficient utilized to match between the template and the candidate templates. Hence the template is updated with the best match. Further the bounding box is enclosed over the object based on spatial information of updated template.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134326112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since a generic graph based retrieval scheme working in every situation can be quite difficult to implement due to the presence of complex scene. In this paper we investigate to deal with such problems and focuses on how to extract the object from an image using topological models. It begins with the innovative concept of initial low level segmentation of input image, which are used to construct topological model on the basis of connected regions. Using this topological model we have design a new prototype known as Iteratively Region Merging and Object Retrieval (IRMOR). Using this prototype IRMOR we can extracted contour based descriptors on an object from an image which constituent the high level features. In addition we focus on how to apply a region labeling and flood fill method to extract object after formation of object contour, IRMOR have special application such an image matching, object recognition, content based image retrieval, object tracking etc.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"19 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132393955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To extend coverage area, data rate, quality of service etc. several systems have been come up with goal of low complexity and having high gain. This paper describes and evaluates various types of transmit diversity techniques namely MRC, STTC and STBC and relay selection algorithms wherein evaluation is done by using Amplify and Forward and Decode and Forward protocols. Stress ECG has been effectively used for analysis of the myocardial ischemia than normal ECG because of the reason that ischemic conditions will be dominated in stress conditions. According to the clinically proven facts, after taking a series of exercise, the chance of finding ischemia can rise up to 80%-90%. In ECG, the ST segment detection has close relationship with myocardial ischemia and myocardial infarction. Denoising of the stress ECG has done using filters. The key points of ECG signal like Q, R, S are found out using Pan Tompkins algorithm. Other key points like P, T, Ton, Toff, J, Iso-electric point are also found using window method. The feature of interest is ST segment. Based on R-R interval, heart rate was found out. By considering the age of the individual sub-maximal heart rate is fixed and let the patient to do exercise stress test which lasts until sub-maximal heart rate was reached. The ST segment analysis had been done in time domain as well as in frequency domain. ST trend was analyzed on and after the sub-maximal heart rate. According to the clinically proven facts, for a person having ischemia the ST level shows a depression for about two minutes or more during relaxing stage. The signals from MIT-BIH ST Change Database had been used to verify the algorithm in MATLAB software.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115006226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Diversity combining greatly improves the performance of wireless communication systems in fading environments. However it also increase the power consumption of the receiver. In particular we carry out a thorough performance versus power consumption trade off analysis of threshold maximum ratio combining (TMRC). Numerical examples show that output thresholded combining schemes lead to considerably less average power consumption than conventional schemes while providing nearly the same performance.","PeriodicalId":109537,"journal":{"name":"2013 Third International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133310781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
