The system was represented in two ways: as a system of differential equations and as a quasi-linear model. The quasi-linear model was identified and verified using measurement results obtained for a real system. The system consists of a linear magnetorheological (MR) damper connected with an electromechanical transducer (EM) and a spring. This system is an alternative to a typical semi-active MR damper-based vibration reduction system supplied by an external power source. The task of the EM transducer is to harvest a certain part of energy coming from mechanical vibration and convert it into electrical energy. The voltage induced by EM is used to control the MR damper. The remaining part is returned by an elastic interaction of bodies. A coefficient of restitution, understood as the ratio of instant impulses of the second and first collision phase, is used for the collision description. The probabilistic characteristics of the coefficient of restitution are presented in the hereby paper on the basis of experimental data. The experiment was based on recording sound signals emitted when the steel ball struck the plate. The system replaces manual inspections of values measured by set of analyzers and their comparison with values from data sheets and automates subsequent manual entry in the list and accompanying tables. The system consists of measuring software running on a PC with touch panel connected to the LAN A/D and D/D converters to receive status signals and signals from devices with analog output. Gas containers and gas compounds are identified by bar codes. Software ensures compliance with the test sequence and evaluates the parameters of the mixture according to the values entered in the database. The aim of this paper is to show that some solutions are better than a commonly used approach. The considered system is nonlinear; consequently, a linearized model is diverse at some operational points. Therefore, an adaptive position controller of the active magnetic bearing may provide better results than a position controller designed for only one operating point. The main topic of the article deals with radial electromagnetic bearing (REB) control system design. The operating principles of electromagnetic levitation of a suspension with cylindrical shape are described. Furthermore, the nonlinear mathematical model of the REB and its linearization at an operating point is presented. The following part of the article is dedicated to control loop design. The parameters of the PI current controller and PID position controller are derived from the linearized REB model using the pole placement method. In addition, an adaptive PID position controller is designed with the previously mentioned method. The controller comprises a variation of partial gains depending on the actual position. The controlled process was a shell-and-tube heat exchanger and its Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model was obtained using experimental data. The control objective was to keep the output temperature of the heated stream at a reference value. The controlled output is the output temperature of the heated stream - petroleum and the control input is the volumetric flow rate of the heating stream - water. Designed controllers were tested using simulations in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The simulation results confirm that designed controllers are suitable for successful control of heat exchangers. Using of the designed controllers can lead to smaller consumption of the heating medium. The third part of the paper introduces a control strategy to ensure optimal heating from the economical point of view. In the introductory part the solved issue is describe and represents cycles of locomotives involved on transportation within the national rail network. In the next part selected simulation software is presented, which is used to handle the issue. Furthermore the input data are presented here, which are necessary for compilation of the simulation model. The next chapter describes the creation of the model for a particular case from practice. This communication is based on the Client-Server architecture. These particular devices from these particular producers ordinarily are not supposed to communicate between each other. With a designed application this communication is possible. Because of this, it is possible to use a robust Simotion control system together with the affordable Weintek HMI. The theoretical part explains how the Client-Server architecture works. The experimental part includes a working application with the above-mentioned communication between the operator panel and the stand for the dynamic test of electronic cams.
