The principal chooses which types of agents to include in the team and offers each agent a contract to induce effort. This team design problem gives rise to endogenous interactions between agents' technologies in a team in the absence of complementarities in the production technology. I characterize optimal team design and show that homogeneous and heterogeneous teams in terms of agents' technologies arise endogenously. In addition, the principal may be biased to hire an inefficiently small team. The results have implications for the heterogeneity of agents in teams, the contracts they receive, and the size and boundaries of teams.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126378490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The struggle for survival and humiliation caused by wartime sex crimes are the channels through which the CCP ascended to power. We also find that people who live in former Japanese-occupied counties today are significantly more nationalistic and exhibit greater trust in the government than those who reside elsewhere.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"237 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121884253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Majid","doi":"10.2139/ssrn.3807888","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.3807888","url":null,"abstract":"The thesis paper’s aim is to asses and study the impact on organizational outcome or performance of the three comparative leadership styles identified by Bass & Alveoli in 1981. The research purpose is to find out how a manager’s leadership style impacts his subordinates’ performance. The leadership styles studied in this research are Passive-Avoidant leadership, Transformational Leadership and Transactional Leadership. This relation has been theoretically explored through literature review and empirically tested in the Pakistani service sector through survey questionnaire. The paper measured Organizational performance through leadership outcome and subordinates job performance and leadership through Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ). Organizational performance can be measured by efficiency and effectiveness of the firm’s operations in terms of profit, net growth rate, return on asset, NPV and return on equity, etc. A comparative analysis of the three main types of leadership styles is done in its relation to organizational performance with job performance as its proxy in an organization in this paper. This research study was conducted to examine the relationships between Bass’s leadership styles and organisational performance in service sector of Pakistan. The findings of the research showed consistent results across all types of employees irrespective of their gender, level in firm or the type of service industry that they belong to at a holistic level. Transformational Leadership and Transactional Leadership were found to have significant positive correlation with organizational performance in Pakistan’s service sector. The negative effect of Passive-Avoidant leaders was found to be insignificant in the service sector In Pakistan a combination of leadership style is used while reward based team leading is found to be more effective in most of the sectors like banking and sales while mentorship based is found to be more effective in academic settings.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133095700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using individual campaign donation information to capture political ideology, I find that political ideology conflicts, both those within employees and those between CEOs and employees, are negatively associated with firms’ future operating performance. This effect is stronger for firms whose employees are more geographically concentrated and more sophisticated. The reduced labor productivity and abnormal employee turnover are two plausible mechanisms through which employee political ideology conflicts hurt firm performance. To establish causality, I use an instrumental variable approach which relies on the exogenous variation in political ideology caused by local television station ownership changes.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130227347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article examines how human resources, in-business training, and educational needs are significant parts of entrepreneurial innovation and business development. We present field research that we conducted in the business ecosystem of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which is a less competitive region of Greece and Europe. After examining the region’s economic profile, we continue with field research results in its retail sector. Our findings suggest that these businesses desire and search for more systematic actions towards training enhancement and human resource management upgrading. Thus, we propose a policy mechanism that could function as a “business clinic” for the region, including the diagnosis of needs and “therapeutic” intervention in terms of education and knowledge. This local development policy could create a growth spiral for the entire socio-economic spatialized system.<br>","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124532292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Esto se logra a traves de la prospectiva tecnologica. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar como la prospectiva tecnologica puede ser una capacidad central de una organizacion, especificamente de un centro de investigacion. Para ello, se tomo como caso de estudio el area de electroquimica del Centro de Investigacion y Desarrollo Tecnologico en Electroquimica (CIDETEQ). Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a los actores principales encargados de la prospectiva tecnologica. Alli se identificaron cuatro factores clave para que la prospectiva tecnologica sea una capacidad central en una organizacion: 1) conocimiento tecnico y habilidad para interpretar tendencias, 2) codificacion del conocimiento y habilidades en herramientas tecnicas, 3) establecimiento fuentes de informacion y roles, y 4), socializacion del ejercicio de prospectiva tecnologica en la organizacion. Ademas, se contribuye al tema al aportar un enfoque desde la administracion estrategica y, especificamente, a las capacidades centrales de una organizacion, para que acceso a mercados potenciales, incrementen los beneficios percibidos por los clientes y desarrollen una ventaja competitiva dificil de imitar.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121808236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This change can be supported by improving relations with relevant stakeholders, engaging comprehensively with them, and creating strong awareness about issues such as ecosystem protection, health-related safeguards, and the careful use of resources. In this regard, through stakeholder engagement and a review of traditional business models, the circular economy can contribute to transforming the corporate culture to ensure the concurrent enhancement of economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This study verified the role of stakeholder engagement in establishing and strengthening the sustainability culture in a company transitioning toward a circular economy. The case study research methodology was applied, referencing a single firm—operating in the oil and energy industry—representing one of the best practices in the international context, even if some efforts are still required to reduce downstream emissions. The findings underline the contributing role played by stakeholder engagement in establishing values and principles compliant with environmental protection and community wellbeing. Thus, this study contributes to the existing stakeholder engagement literature and sheds light on the practical implications and emerging issues.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"259 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125710754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For due purpose, five components of HRIS (Job analysis, e-recruitment & selection, e-compensation & benefit, e-performance appraisal and e-communication) have been selected based on literature as the independent variables while OE has been considered as the dependent one. The study was conducted based on a sample size of 256 top & 308 mid level managers of 11 MNCs operating in Bangladesh. The respondents were selected through convenience sampling technique and the data was collected using a detailed structured survey instrument. The authors utilized Pearson’s correlation coefficient for testing the relationship between the variables; and, linear and multiple regression analysis for testing the validity of assumed hypotheses. After utilizing the specified statistical tools, the results indicated that all the five components of HRIS had positive relationships with operational efficiency while the relationship is strongest for e-recruitment & selection followed by e-communication. The findings of this study are expected to be valuable for HR managers in adopting and understanding the conductive results of HRIS applications at organizations as well as for academicians to study the contribution of HRIS to a further extent.","PeriodicalId":105736,"journal":{"name":"Organizations & Markets: Policies & Processes eJournal","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127162956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
