Selected products are Business Intelligence (BI) applications in comparison with Customer Relationship Management (CRM), database and operating systems. The subject of interest is the architecture. BI architecture is less sophisticated in regard to adopted arrangements for other products. The best resolution offers an Oracle database system. This arrangement helps provide extraordinary stability to the given system. Operating systems have minimalist architecture with necessary processes and configuration files; similarly as for CRM products. BI architecture is without order, with items as tools for end users, component analysis, database components, components for data transformation and integration, and system sources. The solution is to merge the system source with methods for their transformation, and tools for end users with component analysis. Presented analysis is based on Petri Nets. situation. The aim is to get an optimal view of the solution for appropriate computer support via applications, and understand strategic advantages in information technologies (Zutshi & Creed, 2010). The selected method of software solution is not unique, and designers must realize many analyses. A good starting point is analysis with support simulation. Such created models dynamically display solutions, necessary objects, and defined methods. One benefit is the easy movement of existing objects in the designed solution with the idea to gain a new and attractive concept for information technology users. Analysis better reflects challenges to information technology products with support DOI: 10.4018/jeei.2011100102 International Journal of E-Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 2(4), 20-31, October-December 2011 21 Copyright © 2011, IGI Global. Designers and analysts can immediately display the considered design. The issue of creating and testing software in automated systems is an integral part of their design and implementation, and can be considered a specific industry application of software engineering (Cendelín, 2002). Created models suitably describe: • Application structure with configuration, • Processes and files to support realized activities, • Setting rights for users according to actual requirements, • Method for further development, • Architecture for adopted solutions. This individual approach to practical implementation of information technology products is important with regards to a number of problems which are different from companies and institutions; therefore new information products are needed, which helps users to deal with these challenges (Kollmann & Krell, 2011). Recently, they have been increasingly adopted by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). However, making strategic tradeoffs among the various marketplace solutions is a troublesome balance task for SMEs without the rescue of systematic multicriteria decision approaches. This paper addresses the question of how to choose an ERP solution that best suits a given SME. It serves twofold objectives; firstly it defines a set of selection criteria related to SMEs’ context. Secondly, it presents a selection methodology based on the construction of an induced decision model through capturing the decision maker’s preferences. The key contribution of this paper is the introduction of a new iterative learning based approach destined to make enlightened decisions through the consideration of interdependencies among the adopted selection criteria thanks to the Choquet Integral. One of these advances is a photographic technique called panoramic view where the images are captured with elongated field of view using specialized software or equipments. One popular software for generating panoramic views is Apple Inc.’s QuickTime VR (QTVR). However, iphone Operating System (iOS) does not support the existing QTVR software. Therefore, a low-cost method for generating panoramic views on mobile platform is proposed. The proposed method is to store finite images in an array in order to generate a 360o panoramic view from different angles of the heritage sites. This method can be supported various platforms and can be installed in any mobile device without using intermediate software to convert the image file format. The key aspects of the iOS User Experience (UX) are also explored from the perspectives of Model-View-Control (MVC) strategies. The outcome is 360o cylindrical panoramic views that allow the user to gain a clear vision around historical monuments with standardize iOS interface design on a mobile platform using lower computational cost but with similar quality of production. The results of the evaluation have shown that the application is successfully implemented in George Town, Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":102199,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. The role of innovation that can mobilise to render enterprises more dynamic and competitive is well known. The purpose of the study is to assess how responsible owners/managers of SEs relate to innovation. Managers were sampled from two categories: size and sector of rural SEs. The authors proposed a research model that suggested five factors that were found influential in previous research in the perception of innovative activity in rural SEs relating to product and process innovation development, market product, marketing methods, process technology and innovation, and ICT use. Empirical evidence is drawn from a survey of 40 SEs in Sweden. The research discusses implications emerging from the research factors and portrays a course for future research. Traditionally, many people at the northern coast of Sweden live on the forest industry directly or indirectly, which could ultimately be threatened by closures and high unemployment. One reason for setting up businesses in rural areas is to contribute to community development and increase opportunities for themselves and others that live on in the region (Sandberg, 2003a, 2003b). Development can only be achieved through the local community’s ability to maintain and create wealth and improve living standards and reduce dependence on outside suppliers. The base of local development is the diversity of small business, investing and long-term care for their local communities. Swedish municipalities and different authorities have recognised the need to invest DOI: 10.4018/jeei.2011070103 24 International Journal of E-Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 2(3), 23-34, July-September 2011 Copyright © 2011, IGI Global. Companies are confronted with rapidly changing market situations, new technologies, and almost worldwide markets. Local development is dependent on community planning and infrastructure. Small enterprises that play an important role in developing sustainable employment and economic growth in rural areas must be addressed (Friis-Hansen & Egelyng, 2007; Wahlberg & Sandberg, 2005). While the importance of innovative SEs for economic successful in rural regions remained an open question, how exactly ought this goal to be reached? Rural people are observing, adapting, experimenting and innovating as part of their daily work and in response to changing economic and social situations. Local innovators have played a crucial role in the evolution of knowledge and practice. Dynamic local communities are characterized by an interaction between innovators and users or adaptors of technologies through a series of learning cycles (Sandberg, 2003b; Sandberg, Wahlberg, & Pan, 2009). The “traditional butcher versus modern supermarket” conceptual dichotomy is a dead-end for the former. In order to meet the long term challenges of contradictory consumer behavior trends, Greek butchers must embrace them and use them to their own advantage, rather than resist them. The paper deals with issues of innovation adoption by the sector, emphasising the role of the sectoral collective institutions that act as the collective consciousness of their constituents and can hinder or facilitate innovation diffusion. neighborhood butchers. The issue is viewed through the entrepreneurial versus conservative disposition dichotomy and is informed by the present day economic crisis, which forms the backdrop against which the story is unfolding. By now it is clear that the economic crisis we are going through is not going to have the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs, large and small. It is highly probable however that, at least in Greece, it will on the one hand leave behind a trail of ruined small business as it reduces the disposable income of lower and middle classes, and on the other hand will usher in an even more hectic life-style as it dismantles the public sector. SMEs nor are they expected to spearhead the recovery of the economy; in fact their job is a very prosaic one, butchering carcasses and selling meat. Our primary research subjects were seventy SME clients of Provil S.A., a food ingredients producer. Their mundane job however and their embeddedness in the local society – which makes them representative of many small enterprises offers no protection from the developments set in motion by globalisation. So, is the Greek neighborhood butcher on his way to joining the gallery of lost traditional professions like the travelling knife-sharpener and ice-cream seller? The proposition of this paper is the following: The “traditional butcher” versus “modern supermarket” conceptual dichotomy that dominates at present the sectoral discourse is a dead end, because it implicitly stresses the personal relationship and trust between shop-owner and customer without actually enhancing and utilising it to accommodate evolving customer needs. In order to meet the long term challenges of contradictory consumer behavior trends, such as the dominance of convenience food and health concerns, the Greek butchers have to embrace them and use them to their own advantage, rather than resist them.","PeriodicalId":102199,"journal":{"name":"Int. Although little attention has been paid to this phenomenon, in the entrepreneurship literature, necessity entrepreneurs, more than ever, represent a very important social group in an increasingly tough economic and social climate. To throw some light on this phenomenon, we conducted a qualitative study collecting data from five necessity entrepreneurs and five consultants specialized with this type of entrepreneurs. The results show the fragility and the vulnerability of these entrepreneurs, the ambivalence of their environment, the insecurity and the uncertainty of the organizations they contribute to create and finally the very high level of pressure which characterizes their entrepreneurial processes. Generating mistrust is a negative consequence when engaging in entrepreneurial tricks. In spite of that, 66% of entrepreneurs (out of 201 respondents) and 76% of business students (out of 213) consider using some tricks as absolutely necessary if an entrepreneur wants to succeed in his or her domestic business environment. Surprisingly optimistic, 52% of entrepreneurs and 57% of students believe that business ethics can be improved substantially by teaching business ethics to entrepreneurs. And of course, there are different levels of ethics standards or custom practices in different countries emerging from our survey in five countries and a few responses from 21 other countries. The authors also discuss the possible future for business tricks, and if there might be any benefits of them. techniques (tricks) to overcome this such as: “Optical enlargement of a business”, “Fictitious location of a company” or “Spying on competitors”. Tricks represent effective tools for starting entrepreneurs, namely in a very rigid environment. Tricks are used not only by starting entrepreneurs; see for example the article by Stalks (2006) about curveball strategies in business. However, these techniques are forms of deception, and may be ethically questionable. Scholarly studies in business and economics literature addressing ethical issues have tended to focus on large, complex organizations. Illegal and corrupt practices attract national and international media attention. Books and articles regularly appear that expose unethical practices and advise executives on the consequences of actions and on how to infuse ethical values into corporations (c.f. Bakan, 2005; Ferrell, Fraedrich, & Ferrell, 2010; Schumpeter, 2010). Economic, environmental and social crises are often purported to have been caused by unethical behavior on the part of leaders of large corporations. Most students who acquire knowledge as a result of scholarly research will eventually be involved with or affected by new and small businesses, however. Thus, more attention needs to be given to the actions taken by entrepreneurs as they attempt to initiate and grow their ventures. A few efforts have been made to examine the ethical practices and dilemmas of new and small businesses. Harrison (2005) observed that entrepreneurship has become a public policy issue in many countries that are seeking to improve their economies by encouraging business ownership.
