By distinguishing between these variables, the research identifies which worker characteristics and industries are most affected by AI. Employing an extended ordered probit model, the results show that those with higher perceived risks are mainly female, older, and more educated. Workers with frequent internet usage and remote work are more concerned about AI-induced job risks. Sector-wise, entry-level employees perceive the least risk, whereas manufacturing professionals and senior service sector employees are more apprehensive. Contrary to the mainstream assumption that AI causes unemployment, this study identifies a potential complementary effect on job tasks, suggesting that AI can enhance and support human labor rather than replace it. This inference is based on observed worker perceptions and the increased use of AI tools in tasks that complement human skills. Moreover, AI's integration contributes to sustainable practices and entrepreneurial opportunities, enhancing business innovation and environmental efficiency. Workers increasingly view AI as a value-added element in their jobs rather than a threat, particularly in sectors focusing on sustainable development and green technologies.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"4 1","pages":"Article 100085"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142422453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paradigm shifts in digital technology have mandated new mindsets and approaches to managerial, leadership, and entrepreneurial competitiveness in organizations. Human capital with the ability to convey digital knowledge and strategies is regarded as a crucial resource for digital transformations (DT) in organizations. In fact, the development of relevant technological and digital competencies (DCs) is regarded as the biggest obstacle to DT in non-profit organizations (NPOs) as well. However, the growth of literature in this direction has been fragmented by the lack of any formal integration of DCs. The current study is formulated with the primary goal of exploring the digital competency requirements of NPOs. A systematic literature review protocol adhering to PRISMA guidelines was undertaken to synthesize the initial draft of DCs. Subsequently, a modified two-round Delphi survey with a panel of 25 experts was used to rate the competencies quantitatively. The analysis followed the prescribed Delphi principles to determine the results' validity and reliability. As a result, a comprehensive set of eighteen competencies was generated and categorized into three areas (‘digital leadership’, ‘personnel and organizational’, and ‘technical’ competencies). While filling an important void in the literature, the study's findings lay the groundwork for a digital transformation education, learning, and development agenda in non-profits.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"4 1","pages":"Article 100083"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142441504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the circular economy (CE) and sustainable technology have become the necessary means of achieving sustainable business development. In this study, we conduct an analysis of the waste recovery sector in Spain to determine whether the most innovative and socially aware companies complied with sustainable development goal (SDG) 5 (gender equality) and SDG 8 (decent work and growth) during the period 2019–2021 (pre-Coronavirus Disease 2019, (pre-COVID-19), during COVID-19, and post-COVID-19). To this end, based on factors comprising economic and financial variables, the companies were grouped via a cluster analysis using the k-means method; they were linked to the SDGs (5 and 8) in order to determine the compliance of this sector. The results indicate that the technological transformations carried out by the waste valorization companies were reflected in their financial performance, with an increase in revenues of 61 % between 2019 and 2021; all clusters complied with SDG 8. However, despite promoting business transformation, social change, sustainable technology, and CE, these companies are far from compliant with SDG 5; indeed, a setback in social development was observed, with a significant decline in the number of women in positions of power after COVID-19. This therefore constitutes one of the greatest challenges for companies in this sector.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100082"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000129/pdfft?md5=d0a5a5bd75901987c91cecebcf0dc3ac&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000129-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142230654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using VOSViewer and the R programming language, we found 849 reference studies for investigation while browsing English-language articles from esteemed publications and conferences recorded in the Scopus databases. Our analysis revealed an exponential increase in scholarly publications on the topic, therefore highlighting its development as a current focus of study. Our bibliometric study reveals a major knowledge gaps despite this increase: knowledge of the successful integration strategies of environmental education into sustainable entrepreneurship practices and policies at different levels (local, national, and global). Moreover, thorough research on how these interactions affect environmental awareness across several populations and the accomplishment of sustainable development goals (SDGs) is lacking. Therefore, our study aims to close this important void by offering a thorough review of the present situation of research, pointing out the best journals, countries, and authors leading in this field, and suggesting future directions to improve the synergy between environmental education and sustainable development. Policies, courses, and projects aiming at a more sustainable future depend on this input in setting their direction.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100080"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000105/pdfft?md5=ba3539360ffddeb25cff6dd1186d718e&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000105-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141852526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated the effect of individual entrepreneurship orientation on sustainable entrepreneurship practices and firm performance of fisheries small and medium enterprises. The study used a structured questionnaire to gather data from a sample of 389 entrepreneurs working in the Tanzanian Nile perch fishery in Lake Victoria. Descriptive statistics and the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique were used to analyse the quantitative data. The study's findings indicated that the risk-taking, innovativeness, and proactiveness substantially impact sustainable entrepreneurship practices in fisheries small and medium enterprises but does not have a direct relationship with the firm's performance except for the innovativeness. Additionally, it was discovered that sustainable entrepreneurship practices have a complete mediation role in risk-taking and proactiveness, while they have a partial mediation role in innovativeness. Therefore, the study recommends advocacy for policies and incentives to foster the implementation of sustainable entrepreneurship enterprises among small and medium enterprises in the fisheries industry for sustainable businesses and the natural environment.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100079"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000099/pdfft?md5=659bafce2a49bd404869f74f8a10b4ee&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000099-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141847311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dynamic Capabilities are expected to be a crucial mechanism through which entrepreneurship orientation positively affects sustainable start-up intentions. A total of 351 Lebanese women entrepreneurs were carefully chosen to serve as the research sample. The present study used structural equation modeling (SEM), which permits a systematic examination of the interaction between the constructs, to investigate the correlations and dynamics between the variables. The findings of this research have practical implications for policymakers, business support entrepreneurs, and aspiring women entrepreneurs in Lebanon. Understanding the underlying mechanisms that drive start-up intentions among Lebanese women entrepreneurs can inform the design and implementation of targeted interventions and support mechanisms that promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the sustainable development. This study argues that some aspects of R&amp;D investment and certification to international standards are connected by identifying common factors that influence standards certification and business investment in R&amp;D and examining the potential associations between the two. First, we examine the relationship between standards certification and R&amp;D investments in European firms and identify enterprise characteristics that potentially affect each of the two concerns, focusing on differences and similarities. The analysis uses data from the World Bank Enterprise Surveys collected in 2018 and 2019 in selected European countries. We analyse the share and characteristics of firms that applied international standards and R&amp;D expenditures. The probit regression results reveal a positive correlation between R&amp;D expenditures and certification. Other factors affecting the probability of certification include size, export focus and industry. Bivariate probit regression allows us to identify common factors affecting both R&amp;D expenditures and certification, showing significant variations between different forms of entrepreneurship. Subsidiaries of larger companies have a greater chance of being certified and investing in R&amp;D. In contrast, sole proprietorships are significantly less active in both cases. An attempt has been made through this research paper to ascertain the factors influencing the younger generation to become entrepreneurs. In order to expand on the theory of planned behavior framework and clarify the impact of such support on student entrepreneurial ambition, this study embraced the theory of planned behavior perspective in conjunction with perceived family support.
