This study investigated the effect of individual entrepreneurship orientation on sustainable entrepreneurship practices and firm performance of fisheries small and medium enterprises. The study used a structured questionnaire to gather data from a sample of 389 entrepreneurs working in the Tanzanian Nile perch fishery in Lake Victoria. Descriptive statistics and the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique were used to analyse the quantitative data. The study's findings indicated that the risk-taking, innovativeness, and proactiveness substantially impact sustainable entrepreneurship practices in fisheries small and medium enterprises but does not have a direct relationship with the firm's performance except for the innovativeness. Additionally, it was discovered that sustainable entrepreneurship practices have a complete mediation role in risk-taking and proactiveness, while they have a partial mediation role in innovativeness. Therefore, the study recommends advocacy for policies and incentives to foster the implementation of sustainable entrepreneurship enterprises among small and medium enterprises in the fisheries industry for sustainable businesses and the natural environment.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100079"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000099/pdfft?md5=659bafce2a49bd404869f74f8a10b4ee&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000099-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141847311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dynamic Capabilities are expected to be a crucial mechanism through which entrepreneurship orientation positively affects sustainable start-up intentions. A total of 351 Lebanese women entrepreneurs were carefully chosen to serve as the research sample. The present study used structural equation modeling (SEM), which permits a systematic examination of the interaction between the constructs, to investigate the correlations and dynamics between the variables. The findings of this research have practical implications for policymakers, business support entrepreneurs, and aspiring women entrepreneurs in Lebanon. Understanding the underlying mechanisms that drive start-up intentions among Lebanese women entrepreneurs can inform the design and implementation of targeted interventions and support mechanisms that promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the sustainable development. This article illustrates and explains how dynamic capabilities mediate the relationship between women's entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial sustainable start-up intention and how digitalization moderates the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurial start-up intention in the Lebanese context.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100078"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000087/pdfft?md5=12dbbcab6d9ae5e151ccfec431d528e7&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000087-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141954186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study argues that some aspects of R&amp;D investment and certification to international standards are connected by identifying common factors that influence standards certification and business investment in R&amp;D and examining the potential associations between the two. First, we examine the relationship between standards certification and R&amp;D investments in European firms and identify enterprise characteristics that potentially affect each of the two concerns, focusing on differences and similarities. The analysis uses data from the World Bank Enterprise Surveys collected in 2018 and 2019 in selected European countries. We analyse the share and characteristics of firms that applied international standards and R&amp;D expenditures. The probit regression results reveal a positive correlation between R&amp;D expenditures and certification. Other factors affecting the probability of certification include size, export focus and industry. Bivariate probit regression allows us to identify common factors affecting both R&amp;D expenditures and certification, showing significant variations between different forms of entrepreneurship. Subsidiaries of larger companies have a greater chance of being certified and investing in R&amp;D. In contrast, sole proprietorships are significantly less active in both cases. Mentioned factors affects firms’ capabilities to develop sustainable innovation and adopt new sustainable technologies.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100075"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000051/pdfft?md5=5c02cde420a7c1f3d572f9e3f6ed27fd&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000051-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141732303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

HEIs have become organizations that explore and exploit existing knowledge through technology transfer and commercialization. This study analyzes the effect of Performance Measurement Systems (PMSs) on the outcome of knowledge ambidexterity (i.e., the simultaneous pursuit of exploration and exploitation). A Qualitative Comparative Fuzzy Set Analysis was performed, which identified the combination of the antecedent conditions that generate exploration and exploitation outcomes in Ibero-American HEIs. These results show that knowledge ambidexterity performance in Ibero-American universities is conditioned by the design of the PMSs in every particular university context that considers the combination of these factors: Absorptive Capacity, Indicator System, Reward System and Organizational Structures. Overall, this study demonstrates that PMSs have a positive effect on achieving success in the exploration (research performance and academic reputation) and exploitation (technology transfer and employability) of knowledge in Ibero-American HEIs.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100077"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000075/pdfft?md5=b597a412dff05c16549d146918154cae&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000075-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141692722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The younger generation in this study refers to university students. An attempt has been made through this research paper to ascertain the factors influencing the younger generation to become entrepreneurs. In order to expand on the theory of planned behavior framework and clarify the impact of such support on student entrepreneurial ambition, this study embraced the theory of planned behavior perspective in conjunction with perceived family support. The analysis has been performed on a data set of 221 questionnaires and Structural Equation Modelling has been adopted to avail the results using AMOS software. The findings show that MF (Motivational Factors) and FS (Family Support) have a significant effect on the EI (Entrepreneurial Intentions) of the students. The main purpose is to understand the status quo of process innovation in food industry, suggest future research agenda, and propose a framework for describing food process innovations. The review is guided by Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). This study argues that reviewed literature has not adequately addressed process innovation in the food industry, especially with orientation to financing structures and financial performance. Moreover, the specific measurement scale for process innovation in the food industry is lacking. This paper enlightens scholars and practitioners in the agri-food industry on the current situation of process innovation and avenues for advancement. The major contribution of this study is the proposed framework for describing food process innovation. Several research agendas are suggested. The need for developing a specific measurement scale for food process innovations is contended.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 3","pages":"Article 100073"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032824000038/pdfft?md5=6ceb6e5188cea59e74f63fcbed675322&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032824000038-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139726095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fish is widely regarded as a significant source of protein. Despite the significance of fisheries, it is faced with several challenges such as constant change in climate. This study was conducted to examine the perception of fisher folks on climate change and the relationship between socio-economic characteristics and adoption of climate smart fisheries using semi-structured questionnaire. Perception towards climate change and adoption of climate-smart fisheries were analyzed using statistical inferential statistics. The predictor of co-management as a mitigative measure for climate change in fisheries was also analyzed with an ordered logistic regression technique. The result showed that 92.5 % of the fishers have formal education. Majority of the fishers (98.3 %) have no access to storage facilities whilst 96.66 % have access to market. In addition, 31.66 % of the fishers have access to information on climatic and weather conditions. On the perception of climate change, 47.5 % of fishers perceived decrease in amount of rainfall as evidence of climate change whilst 66.6 % perceived decrease in sea level as evidence of climate change. A few fishers perceived an increase in humidity, change in temperature and wind-storm or sea breeze as evidence of climate change. Again, 48.33 % of the fishers agree to reduction of fleet's carbon emission whilst 33.33 % fishers disagreed to diversifying sources of household income as an adoption to climate-smart fisheries. Additional cost in the beginning of adoption of climate smart fisheries as a constraint was agreed upon by 50.00 % of fishers. These innovations offer creative solutions to address longstanding challenges. However, the novelty of these concepts has given rise to issues related to information asymmetry among investors, exacerbated by the opinions shared on social media platforms. To comprehensively analyse the trends of these technologies and their societal impact, as well as their influence on the contemporary business landscape, we conducted a study in the social platforms X (formerly known as Twitter) analysing 59,453 tweets using natural language processing (NLP). Through this research, we have identified key topics such as investment security or corporate challenges that provide valuable insights and structured information essential for industry stakeholders. In summary, this study explores the dynamic interplay between blockchain technology, ICOs, STOs and social media in the industry. It sheds light on the sentiment and implications of the use of this technology and these emerging financial models, offering a nuanced understanding of their impact on the market. Epidemics like COVID-19, Monkeypox, Influenza and HIV have been affecting people and public health infrastructure at an alarming rate around the world. COVID-19 alone has infected more than 500 million people out of which 6 million have died over 100 countries. HIV is also a major global public health issue and has claimed 85.6 million lives till 2023. Forecasting the trends of these epidemics is important in order to efficiently manage national and global health risks by improving early warning systems. Therefore an intelligent framework to forecast epidemic diseases is proposed and a detailed comparative analysis is conducted using different time-series models. This study contributes to (Sustainable Development Goal) SDG-3 by predicting epidemics disease trends precisely using ARIMA, Polynomial Regression, SARIMA, Holt’s, Fb-Prophet time-series models, which can decrease the burden on healthcare systems. Using the best-suited models, the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) values for Monkeypox, HIV, COVID-19 and Influenza forecasting were 0.0129, 0.0035, 0.0011, and 0.024 respectively.</p></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"3 2","pages":"Article 100064"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2773032823000275/pdfft?md5=350778f8c3d493b00198ef9b08b33518&pid=1-s2.0-S2773032823000275-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139395907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
