In the last decade, bus and metro modes, in addition to being the most in-demand, have been the most utilized to offer a practical and sustainable public transport system.</div><div>In Spain, public transport services are bus, the mode of transport designed as a priority over metro. The significant investment in infrastructure required for its implementation and maintenance makes it necessary to assess these companies' efficiency and impact on the sustainability of the surrounding environment. The specific focus is on how these platforms influence digital nomads’ decision making related to destination choices and entrepreneurial ventures, while also highlighting opportunities for the adoption of sustainable technology to enhance flexibility and efficiency of remote work. To this end, a total of 25 in-depth interviews were conducted with digital nomads, platform representatives, and academics. Interview questions focused on the impact of digital tools on professional practices and the nomadic lifestyle. The data were analyzed using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling, combined with Computer-Aided Text Analysis (CATA), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. Based on the results, 20 key topics related to the challenges, motivations, and future trends of this community were identified, including, among others, digital comfort, sustainable mobility, technology, digital environment, work-life balance, and workspace issues or employment. Taken together, the findings provide valuable insights into the intersection of digital nomadism and digital platforms and technologies, contributing to theories such as work-life balance, sustainable technology use, and boundary work.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"4 2","pages":"Article 100096"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143100716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through information and communication technology (ICT) access and development, digitalization enhances entrepreneurship, fostering the path to sustainable economic growth. However, the literature results evidenced thus far are mixed and do not consider simultaneously the exploration of these cumulative relationships, a gap the present article tries to fill in. Herein is explored the relationship between entrepreneurial activities, ICT, energy consumption, economic growth, and environmental degradation, examining the impact of digitalization and entrepreneurial activities on carbon degradation, with the corresponding effect on the environment, considering a panel of 16 EU countries between 2001 and 2020, using cross-sectional and causality models to account for short and long-run effects. This study also validates these economies' Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) while finding critical cross-sectional dependencies. Despite finding that ICT and entrepreneurial activities improved environmental quality, our work points out that ICT and entrepreneurial activities deteriorated the environment. All the macroeconomic variables evidence long-run relationships with carbon degradation or environmental quality. However, no causality is found between ICT and economic growth, nor between entrepreneurship and economic growth, therefore challenging the idea that growth boosts ICT or entrepreneurship activities in EU countries. Important policy directions are presented considering the results that may foster better routes to sustainable growth and development for EU countries.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"4 1","pages":"Article 100094"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143098847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary data was sourced from 130 maize traders. Descriptive statistics, probit regression, and inverse probability weighted regression adjustment (IPWRA) were applied to analyze the data. Perceived usefulness, perceived cost, perceived ease of use, perceived innovativeness, perceived complexity, and household size were identified as factors that significantly influence traders’ adoption of E-commerce. These findings reinforce and expand existing theories on adoption intentions within agripreneurship. Moreover, traders using the e-commerce platform reported an increase of 4702 kg in sales volume and GH¢ 239.1 (US$ 26.8) in sales revenue compared to non-adopters. The study further highlighted value co-creation as a catalyst for enhanced sales volume, revenue, and user satisfaction, underscoring its potential as a sustainable strategy within e-commerce frameworks. The insights gained contribute to understanding the transformative role of sustainable technology in boosting growth and resilience in agricultural trade.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"4 1","pages":"Article 100090"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143148822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on data obtained from 179 sunflower oil-processing SMEs in Tanzania and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling, the study established that technological absorptive capacity influences business performance. Further, e-business innovation partially mediates the relationship between technological absorptive capacity and business performance. These findings suggest that technological absorptive capacity indirectly influences SME business performance through e-business innovation. On the other hand, findings from the multigroup analysis revealed insignificant differences in the hypothesized relationships between samples from Dodoma and Singida regions, with greater effects observed in Dodoma than in Singida for most of the relationships. The mediating effect of e-business innovation is more profound in the Dodoma sample than in the Singida sample. This study provides important empirical evidence of the role of technological absorptive capacity and e-business innovation in enhancing SME business performance. Additionally, evidence from cross-regional comparisons is crucial for examining differences in business performance among SMEs operating in the country. In Tunisia, an open and developing economy, fossil energy consumption can be reduced without compromising economic growth by focusing on diminishing energy intensity. This study investigates the effects of technological progress on the overall energy intensity in Tunisia from 1980 to 2019, examining the role that technological advancements may play in attaining sustainable development goals. This study is based on a growth accounting model that uses time-series analysis and a cointegration estimation approach. Our empirical results suggest the presence of a long-term connection between the variables. The attainment of enhanced energy efficiency is contingent on the growth rate of technological progress, which should exceed capital and labor productivity. The results reveal that the net impact of technological advancements is estimated at -0.0163, which signifies that aggregate energy intensity tends to decrease by an annual average of 1.63% in the long term. These findings underscore the need for developing economies to restructure their energy policies and support sustainable technological initiatives and green entrepreneurship. Developing countries can reduce their energy intensity while boosting their economic growth by fostering technological innovation. This study demonstrates how technological progress and green entrepreneurship can be leveraged to enhance energy efficiency and drive sustainable development in developing nations.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":101202,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Technology and Entrepreneurship","volume":"4 1","pages":"Article 100084"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142422451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
