A multidisciplinary approach improves outcomes for elderly patients with fragility fracture.</p></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><p>To carry out a narrative review to evaluate the evidence of orthogeriatric units as a strategy to reduce adverse outcomes in older adults with fragility hip fractures.</p></div><div><h3>Material and Methods</h3><p>A literature search was carried out in the following databases: PubMed, Cochrane and Scielo, with the terms: “hip fracture” or “fragility fracture” AND “multidisciplinary team” or “Geriatric co management” or AND “orthogeriatric” or “ortho-geriatric”.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Care by orthogeriatrics reduces pre-operative surgical time, postoperative complications and hospital stay. Interdisciplinary assessment has been shown to be effective in reducing functional decline, in-hospital mortality, 30-day mortality, and the risk of institutionalization compared to other models of care. These factors impact on the optimization of resources, reducing health costs.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>Orthogeriatric services are the ideal model to treat fragility fractures in older adults. One of the most used methods for the subjective evaluation of knee functionality after resumption of physical activity is the ACL-RSI scale (Anterior Cruciate Ligament – Return to Sport injury).</p></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><p>To evaluate the functionality of the knee in the return to sport in patients with RLCA and to validate the modified ACL-RSI scale in athletes with recreational activity.</p></div><div><h3>Materials and methods</h3><p>Translation and re-translation of the modified ACL-RSI scale was performed, selected words on the scale were culturally adapted, and it was applied to 44 recreational athletes in the 9-month postoperative ACL with return to physical activity. performed descriptive analysis of the results, exploratory factorial analysis of the scale and application of Cronbach's alpha to assess the reliability of the scale.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The mean age was 33.7 years. Cronbach's alpha obtained for the modified ACL-RSI scale was 0.928. The means of the answers show functional results between 4 and 6 on a scale of 10 in terms of physical and psychological factors related to RLCA, the worst result was related to jumping during sports activity (mean 4.1).</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>The modified, culturally adapted ACL-RSI scale is valid and applicable to assess knee function in RLCA on return to sport. In addition, the Hill–Sachs interval measurement was found to be statistically significant, but the correlation index was not high, 60%. The majority of cases occurred in females with a percentage of 53.3%, with an average age of 74.2 years. The main causes of periprotic fracture were hip trauma from falling from its own height. Covering prevention, initial diagnosis, evaluation of the progression of the pathology, stratification with the proposed classifications, and finally the treatment according to the stage in which the patients are, is actually well described herein in order to minimize unsatisfactory outcomes, interventions and complications derived from the progression of diabetic foot. We are talking about recommendations and not guidelines due to the absence in a large number of opportunities of properly structured scientific evidence (I and II). Perhaps, the most important thing to emphasize in all these recommendations is to remind the reader that in cases of treating a diabetic foot, it should always be kept in mind that the contralateral foot is not healthy because it has also been subjected to the same disease, for the same period of time and stressed equally as well. There is no physical rehabilitation guideline registered with the Ministry of Health in Colombia. Therefore, the general objective of this study was to determine the effect of physiotherapy intervention on functionality and quality of life in patients undergoing TKR.</p></div><div><h3>Materials & methods</h3><p>A cross-sectional cohort study, comprising three assessments (preoperative, at 3 and at 6 months) using the WOMAC and SF12 questionnaires, physiotherapy assessment, and 36 sessions of home physiotherapy in 10 adults over 65 years of age. The sample was taken from the participating surgeon's waiting list between November 2017 and June 2018. Results. Stiffness and pain obtained p-values of .00 and .01 respectively from the WOMAC questionnaire. A significance level of .009 was found in functional ability between the 1st and 3rd assessments. The SF12 questionnaire results reflected a better state of health, with little limitation on moderate effort or climbing stairs. Strength went from 3- to 4+ in 80% of the population.
