This study investigates the dynamic capabilities (DCs) incumbents need for DDBMI. It employs a multistage literature search, topic modeling to identify nine DDBMI global themes, thematic synthesis to generalize these themes, and qualitative content analysis to delineate the digital and strategic DCs necessary for their implementation. The study presents a structured approach to DDBMI through the development of the value-added concept, elaborated via four interrelated frameworks that (1) list DCs applied in DDBMI, (2) outline how to define, identify, and deploy DCs, (3) integrate DC implementation into the DDBMI process, and (4) map the value-added concept onto the four phases of the BMI process. Methodologically, the study advances data-driven literature reviews by adopting a multi-method approach. Theoretically, it contributes to DC theory by integrating it with DDBMI and identifying DCs as key enablers of the successful implementation of DDBMs. Practically, we provide guidance for practitioners on defining, identifying, and deploying DCs to drive value creation and sustainability in DDBMI through our proposed meta-level conceptual framework.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 2","pages":"Article 100124"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143870638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in order to successfully manage this transition to a high degree of digital maturity, they must not only adopt digital technologies but also use them to optimize their processes, products, services and business models and develop the necessary capabilities. As part of the search for drivers and antecedents, this article sheds light on the influence of national culture on firms' digital maturity. To this end, hypotheses on the effects along Hofstede's six cultural dimensions are derived from the literature and then tested in a quantitative study of 603 companies from the manufacturing industry applying multiple regression analysis. The results confirm that digital maturity is fostered by strong uncertainty avoidance and long-term orientation and hampered by strong individualism and indulgence. In contrast, no significant effects were found for power distance and masculinity. The study thus contributes to research by affirming the culture-bound nature of digital maturity and encouraging companies to incorporate conducive values of national culture into their global strategies for digital transformation.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 2","pages":"Article 100121"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143842871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although existing surveillance frameworks acknowledge the role that social context plays in shaping the outcomes of surveillance, they overlook the impact organisational culture, leadership, management, and employees have on shaping its characteristics. Current frameworks also underplay the influence of digital technology and fail to account for the impact modern digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence algorithms, have on shaping the characteristics of surveillance. Through an inductive approach that synthesises and integrates surveillance concepts and theories, this paper identifies and develops the characteristics of surveillance (i.e., purpose, observer, target, direction, transparency, and intrusiveness) as well as the specific social and technological elements shaping each characteristic. By integrating these dimensions, this paper produces an innovative sociotechnical framework that provides academics and practitioners with a detailed understanding of the various types of surveillance engendered in different organisational settings. This paper also sheds light on how the social and technological elements interact to shape the characteristics of surveillance, the negative outcomes and ethical challenges arising from each characteristic, and approaches to mitigating these negative effects. In addition, practical recommendations are offered to guide organisations with the responsible implementation of surveillance through a participatory process aligned with organisational policies and legal and regulatory requirements. These practical recommendations can also help organisations reduce resistance, improve trust between employers and employees, mitigate negative outcomes, avoid ethical concerns, and increase acceptance of surveillance.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 2","pages":"Article 100120"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143842870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using panel data from the Survey on Equipment and Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Households (2017–2021), a logit model with random effects is estimated to analyse the determinants of e-banking adoption. The findings reveal that a lower density of bank branches per 1000 inhabitants significantly increases the propensity to use e-banking. However, digital financial inclusion remains uneven, with age, digital skills, gender, and geographic location playing critical roles in adoption patterns. While the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated e-banking uptake, structural inequalities persist, particularly among older adults and rural populations. Additionally, despite rising e-banking adoption, engagement with advanced digital financial services (e.g., stock trading, insurance, loans) remains limited, suggesting that digital financial literacy gaps continue to hinder full participation in digital banking. These findings highlight the need for targeted financial education programs, improved digital infrastructure, and hybrid banking models that ensure accessibility for vulnerable populations.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 1","pages":"Article 100119"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143791997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the growing presence of agencies within platform-based markets has received little attention. Complementors are affiliated with an agency or work independently when offering products on a platform-based market. This study investigates the impact of agency affiliation on complementor success and explores how this relationship is influenced by product quality assurance and originality. Using a panel dataset of 188 mobile game applications from Google Play, we employ Generalized Least Squares (GLS) estimation to analyze agency alliance direct and moderating effects on complementor performance. Our findings indicate that an agency alliance is positively associated with complementor performance. However, it is better to work independently when complementors are capable of developing products that can differentiate themselves from competitors. This study contributes to the literature by shedding light on agencies' role as intermediaries within platform ecosystems and expands our understanding of platform dynamics.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 1","pages":"Article 100118"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143759996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the reasons is the low competence stereotype assigned by young people to agricultural jobs, as the job in this sector requires no specific skills, a minimum educational background, is associated with old people, and is not prestigious. Based upon the stereotype content model, this research aims to examine whether the use of social media for agricultural businesses can increase their attractiveness for the younger generation through an improved competence stereotype. An online survey was distributed to Indonesian members of Generation Z who were aware of the presence of agricultural businesses in their country. About 376 data units were collected and analyzed using the moderated mediation model in Hayes' PROCESS Macro. The findings indicate that the use of social media improves the perceived competence of an agricultural business, subsequently fostering an intention among Generation Z members to apply for jobs in such businesses. Although the moderating role of self-efficacy is not significant, for individuals with low (high) self-efficacy, the adoption of social media decreases (increases) their intention to apply for jobs in the agricultural sector. Therefore, social media adoption has the potential to filter younger people who are talented and capable of working in agricultural businesses.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 1","pages":"Article 100117"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143704148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seller uncertainty, often driven by information asymmetry and a lack of trust signals, can significantly hinder transactions on these platforms. This study investigates the mitigation of seller uncertainty in social commerce platforms by exploring pre-purchase customer-seller signals. Utilizing signaling theory, the research examines the role of information quality, positive reviews, seller-reputation, seller-popularity, and return policy leniency in reducing uncertainty. A hybrid SEM-ANN approach was employed to rigorously examine these relationships. Data was gathered from 368 social commerce users, providing robust insights into the factors that most significantly influence seller uncertainty. The findings reveal that all five signals play a significant role in reducing seller-uncertainty, with information quality emerging as the most critical factor. This emphasizes the need for sellers to provide clear, accurate, and comprehensive information to alleviate buyer concerns. The findings contribute theoretically and practically by deepening the understanding of uncertainty reduction mechanisms in social commerce and providing valuable insights for sellers and platform designers.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":100376,"journal":{"name":"Digital Business","volume":"5 1","pages":"Article 100116"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143687649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines how streamer attributes (beauty, humor, passion, expertise, and warmth) and platform features (interactivity and personalization) shape trust in streamers and products, subsequently affecting CEB dimensions, including augmenting, co-developing, influencing, and mobilizing. Using data from 682 respondents and analyzing with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS 4.0, the findings reveal that beauty and interactivity are pivotal for trust in streamers, while expertise and personalization are critical for trust in products. Trust in streamers emerged as the strongest predictor of CEB, emphasizing its role in fostering consumer loyalty and interaction. This research contributes to theory by integrating socio-technical perspectives with trust-based consumer engagement frameworks, offering a holistic understanding of trust to cultivate CEB. In this paper, we explore the theoretical underpinnings of BTC blockchain infrastructure and BTC mining as potent instruments for resource monetization, giving rise to innovative digital business models. In particular, we explore the complex relationship between BTC mining and sustainable energy practices, reframing BTC mining from an energy-intensive activity to a potential catalyst for sustainable value creation. Based on a sound methodological approach that relies upon case study analysis, grounded theory and Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) we investigate BTC mining's potential as a resource monetization instrument. According to the results, it is clear that BTC mining can absorb excess energy, balance energy grids and support renewable energy integration, ultimately contributing to environmental sustainability and economic efficiency. The findings suggest that BTC mining, when integrated with advanced technologies and unused energy from renewable or stranded sources, creates new business opportunities that align economic incentives with sustainability goals. The research contributes to the ongoing debate about BTC's environmental impact by offering an alternative perspective: that BTC mining can, under the right conditions, promote cleaner energy use and reduce the carbon footprint of energy production.
