{"title":"Promethium – das schwierige Element","authors":"Doris Fischer-Henningsen","doi":"10.1002/ciuz.202410006","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1002/ciuz.202410006","url":null,"abstract":"<p>In der Reihe der Seltenerdmetalle Lanthan und den folgenden Lanthanoide Cer bis Lutetium nimmt das Promethium mit der Ordnungszahl 61 eine Sonderrolle ein: Alle seine Isotope sind radioaktiv, so dass es bisher nur selten in experimentellen Studien zu den Lanthanoiden berücksichtigt wurde. Nun gelang einer Guppe um Ilja Popovs vom Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA, erstmals die Synthese einer löslichen Verbindung des Promethiums. Daran ließen sich grundlegende strukturelle Parameter wie Ionengröße und Bindungslänge bestimmen. Bürgerwissenschaft eröffnet eine faszinierende Dimension der Forschung für jedermann. Sie ermöglicht es Personen unterschiedlichster Hintergründe, aktiv an Forschungsprojekten teilzunehmen und wissenschaftliche Fragen zu beantworten. Besonders bei der Datengenerierung und der -auswertung können Nicht-Wissenschaftler einen bedeutenden Beitrag leisten. Projekte im Rahmen der Community Science ermöglichen es Bürgern, auf verschiedenen Ebenen an Forschungsaktivitäten teilzunehmen.
