The infection is endemic in South-East of Asia and Northern Australia. B. pseudomallei has been designated as bioterrorism agent and its manipulation should be done in a biological safety level 3 capability. Workers in laboratories may be accidentally exposed to B. pseudomallei before its identification, with a risk of laboratory-acquired melioidosis. We want to describe a case of melioidosis occurred in our hospital and its management at laboratory. The objective of this article is to provide guidance to microbiologists confronted with a suspicious case of B. pseudomallei on the management of the exposition. We report here a couple of microbiological arguments that can usually guide microbiologists towards presumptive identification of B. pseudomallei. This case report shows the importance of MALDI-TOF MS accurate databases to ensure accurate microbial identification and antibiotic prophylaxis adapted to individuals who were exposed. We also want to underline the importance of developing an effective strategy of prevention against any accidental exposure that can occur in a microbiological laboratory.</p>","PeriodicalId":93870,"journal":{"name":"Annales de biologie clinique","volume":"81 6","pages":"640-644"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139934644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The latest revision of the law of August 2, 2021, is characterized by major upheavals in the field of MAR and intervenes in several areas: the purpose and conditions to access to MAR, access to origins in the case of gamete or embryo donation, and gametes cryopreservation without medical indication. Indeed, the law authorizes, because of a strong societal demand, the extension of sperm donation to couples of women and unmarried women, as well as the possibility for any person to preserve his/her gametes if he/she meets the age criteria defined by decree. Finally, the law opens the possibility for people born following gamete or embryo donation to have access, from their 18th anniversary, to identifying and/or non-identifying data. These new measures have led to a very important number of MAR requests to fertility and donation centers, and have required the implementation of new circuits in order to harmonize care, without discrimination or prioritization.</p>","PeriodicalId":93870,"journal":{"name":"Annales de biologie clinique","volume":"81 6","pages":"621-627"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139378988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the difficulties for the laboratory investigation of N2O intoxication, there is currently no guidelines in France to help both clinicians and biologists use appropriate biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with clinical symptoms potentially related to N2O intoxication. A multi-disciplinary Working Group, carried out under the auspices of the French Society of Clinical Biology (SFBC) and in collaboration with the French Societies of Emergency Medicine (SFMU), Analytical Toxicology (SFTA), Hemostasis and Thrombosis (SFTH), Vitamins and Biofactors (SFVB), and the French Federation of Neurology (FFN), was recently implemented to elaborate practical guidelines. LINC00623 levels were identified by RT-qPCR. Using ROC curve analysis, the discrimination value of LINC00623 for LUAD from lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) and the health was assessed. Recurrence-free and overall survival were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and multivariate survival analysis. Cell biological properties were analyzed by growth curves, transwell migration, and invasion assays. The downstream miRNA and genes were retrieved and annotated by online databases. LINC00623 was significantly upregulated in the LUAD tissues and cell lines compared to LUSC tissues and the noncancerous tissues. LINC00623 showed a discriminating power for predicting LUAD. LUAD patients with a high level of LINC00623 tend to have poor overall survival and recurrence-free survival. Downregulation of LINC00623 reduced the proliferation, migration, and invasion of LUAD cells. MiR-1207-5p was a target of LINC00623 and its target genes were related to PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
