The full operation of a robotic system depends on ensuring the functioning of all its parts, which can be divided hierarchically or functionality. There is a consensus that the kinematic model can be simplified for most analyzes. Likewise, the dynamic model is greatly simplified because of its complexity and uncertainty, but not allowing use of models that approximate the actual behavior. The dynamic approach proposed in this work includes a lateral drag force, causing the tracks moves in curvilinear, considering their non-linearity and strong coupling between the tracks. The traction performed by the vehicle is from electric DC motors. Also it is presented the implementation of a procedure for detecting parameters of the interaction between the tracks and the soil, by estimating the coefficients of kinetic and dynamic friction, from the measurement of current supplied to the engines while performing a maneuver.","PeriodicalId":93508,"journal":{"name":"... This paper presents a new intelligent approach aimed to automatically analyse power quality disturbances including sag, swell, outage, harmonics and normal waveform. The approach is based on Artificial Immune System and focuses on the application of a Clonal Selection Algorithm to extract features from disturbance waveforms and classify the disturbances in each 0.5 cycle of the fundamental frequency. Other important feature of the proposed approach is that it can be embedded since the resulted on-line classification tool achieves very low computational complexity. Comparisons and experimental results obtained from the application of the proposed method validate the approach and achieved a classification accuracy at least better than previous work.","PeriodicalId":93508,"journal":{"name":"... This hand is driven by SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) wires. Some researches has showed the high rejection rate by the amputees using prosthetic upper limbs due to several problems, such as weight, high noise and need of anthropomorphism. In this context, it is presented the development of a robotic hand which is not driven by conventional actuators, in this case, SMA actuators. The mechanical structure of the robotic hand was designed using a computer program (CAD) and subsequently manufactured in ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) polymer by a rapid prototyping machine (3D printer). The robotic hand was instrumented with a bend sensor (also known as Flexsensor) to monitor the angles formed by each phalanx. The data presented, as the obtained angles, were quite satisfactory for this application. In order to corroborate the data presented by the bend sensor, a system was developed using a camera to procedure a non-contact measurement with image processing.","PeriodicalId":93508,"journal":{"name":"... Such characteristics are extremely important for the proper selection and use of these materials in measurement processes, for example. Therefore, this paper presents an equipment for the characterization of ferromagnetic materials constructed in a laboratory. The experimental results of this equipment are acquired and compared with the experimental results obtained with an industrially manufactured apparatus called hysteresisgraph, designed to provide magnetic characterization of magnetic materials. The results of the comparison demonstrate that the equipment presented has low relative error and can be applied in academic projects which require magnetic characterization of ferromagnetic materials developed in the laboratory.","PeriodicalId":93508,"journal":{"name":"... The sensor uses a combination of a micro-turbine coupled to a small-power DC generator, to convert wind speed into a voltage to be measured. Concurrently to measuring wind speed, the smart sensor harvests energy from the wind to power a 2.4 GHz transceiver, being able to send the wind speed information to a computer several meters away. The solution is able to properly work from wind speeds as low as 3.5 m/s, a typical lower limit for small and medium size commercial turbines. The low-cost smart sensor can be configured in a wireless network, so that several nodes can be deployed over buildings, traffic lights, trees, etc. We present the setup used to characterize the sensor, along with the experimental data collected, such as the relation between wind speed and output voltage or output power for different load conditions.","PeriodicalId":93508,"journal":{"name":"... The proposed architecture has parameters which can be configured by the user, in order to adapt the conversion process to the signal being sampled and to the requirements of power consumption of the target application. The architecture was modeled and simulated using Matlab, and tested with different signals, including an Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The digital logic was implemented in FPGA from a SystemVerilog description, functionally compatible with the Matlab model, and the analog part was implemented with discrete components.","PeriodicalId":93508,"journal":{"name":"...
