PNES episodes mimic epileptic seizures but stem from psychological factors, making accurate diagnosis essential for effective treatment. They are now included under the umbrella of Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). We report a case of PNES and review the medical literature with respect to the incidence and prevalence of this entity in the Indian population. Our case report highlights the complexities of PNES diagnosis- a disorder on the \"border zone\" between neurology, psychiatry, and psychology. A multidisciplinary approach involving neurologists, psychiatrists, and psychologists is crucial for effective PNES management in India, overcoming the stigma associated with this condition and improving patient outcomes.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"64 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141653048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through careful and scrupulous bibliographic research, using scientific studies from around the world, which report targeted interventions with the purpose of studying and implementing the prevention of these diseases, through the dissemination of the World Health Organization's guidelines on physical activity, sedentary behavior, sleep and the importance of their integration. \"Education in movement\", through learning new habits as a way of life, is one of the most concrete solutions, although it is not to be considered an easy and obvious thing. Targeted intervention in the nursery school, and not only there, as the ideal place to implement interventions aimed at preventing obesity through movement, a healthy diet and education in healthy lifestyles, is just as necessary as taking care of other areas, for a pedagogy of movement in the holistic conception of the Person.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"18 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141349247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a physically demanding sport, and professional boxers are usually in their mid to late 20’s. At around 35-years of age most boxers begin to show signs of physical decline. Boxers hence begin to retire from professional boxing around 35-years of age. Recently older combatants are entering the ring and cage to ply their trade. These are either former professional combatant who is choosing to come out of retirement or celebrities who are getting pitted against each other in exhibition boxing matches (popularly referred to as celebrity boxing). Many of these “combatants” are on the wrong side of 40, have little to no formal training in combat sports and poor physical conditioning. Boxing and MMA are referred to as combat sports. Neurological, orthopedic, and ophthalmological injuries are common. While some are life threatening others has the potential to cause lifelong disability. Boxers sometimes die in the ring due to acute traumatic subdural hematoma (SDH). Concern is hence raised for the health and wellbeing of these older athletes. Cluster analysis looks at relevant objects and attributes, classifying them into two or more independent groups. Cluster analysis supplemented with discriminant analysis is used in confirmatory and fundamental research. In numerous statistical-methodological procedures, these methods are applied when setting up and testing various hypotheses. Grouping methods are particularly useful in the process of different selections with the aim of forming coherent groups, which may or may not necessarily be statistically different. There are several models of clustering (grouping), always with one goal, which is greater proximity (similarity) of an entity belonging to a group compared to an entity belonging to another group. Two basic grouping models are recognizable, Hierarchical and Non-Hierarchical. Both models have the same goal, which is the formation of several independent homogeneous groups from one common group of entities. The hierarchical approach does not define the number of clusters in advance (a priori), in contrast to the Non-Hierarchical Model which defines in advance number of clusters. The grouping model is chosen depending on the specific problem and the set goal of grouping. In the process, several different models are often applied, and then one is chosen as in this research. It is important to point out that the theoretical number of clusters (groups) is often not realistically applicable in practice. Using the example of this research, it was proven that the first grouping was not a good solution. Through the subsequent, second and third iteration, as well as the application of additional discriminative methods, three optimal clusters were determined in the population of girls and boys. Satisfactory optimal grouping was obtained on the basis of gender criteria and achieved results on psycho-motor tests.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"53 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141055283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this work lies in the design and simulation of a magnetic knee brace, with permanent magnets, for the treatment of SRP. It is concluded that magnetic induction generated by the configuration of the knee brace is feasible for this pathology and with cryotherapy it has high analgesic and anti-inflammatory effectiveness, since it relieves pain and inflammation caused by knee injuries (arthritis, osteoarthritis, SRP); and accelerates the rehabilitation time of athletes/physical exercise practitioners, with respect to conventional treatment; which has a direct impact on the patient's quality of life, mainly in the work, social and economic spheres.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"39 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140259361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is also made up of spongy bone, within it there are numerous medullary perforations, being smaller in the cortex. The alveolus is subject to continuous changes that are produced by dental eruption, chewing and a variety of periodontal diseases that can influence its constant remodeling. Materials and methods: An electronic search was carried out to provide support and justification for this literature review. This bibliographic search was carried out in the Pubmed / Medline, Science Direct and Scielo databases of scientific articles published in English, which had the objective of describing the bone remodeling processes that occur in the alveolar bone after dental loss and the possible treatments for vertical bone regeneration that can be provided to the patient for the subsequent placement of the dental implant. Results: Of the different conventional vertical bone augmentation techniques described in the literature over the years, CAD/CAM titanium meshes are the ones that present the highest percentage of gain. Likewise, greater bone gain was observed combined with collagen membranes than without them. Distraction osteogenesis presented a lower percentage of gain, followed by guided bone regeneration with non-resorbable membrane and, finally, the onlay or bone block graft technique. However, with the recent appearance of titanium occlusive barriers, the literature reports the highest percentage of gain. Conclusions: Regarding complications, we can conclude that distraction osteogenesis and block bone grafts are those that obtained the highest complication rate, followed by CAD/CAM titanium meshes and non-resorbable membranes.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"66 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140419609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Beyond respiratory mechanics, the diaphragm contributes to postural stabilization, lumbar support, and regulation of intra-abdominal pressure (IAP). By analyzing the diaphragm's eccentric contraction, we introduce two innovative concepts: \"Diaphragm Antagonist Muscles\" (DAM) and \"Centration\". DAM represents an evolution of the abdominal belt concept, integrating the pelvic floor and lower posterior trunk muscles. This muscular synergy is vital for respiratory dynamics and functions such as posture and integrity of the musculoskeletal, pressure, and postural systems. Centration, proposed as a conscious modulation skill of IAP, activates a neurophysiological interaction between the diaphragm, lower posterior trunk muscles, and the pelvic floor, revealing new implications of the diaphragm in sports, health, and kinesiological contexts.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"81 1-2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140498262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Child marriages are especially present in Roma and Egyptian communities in these and wider areas. After extensive research on a representative sample of both sexes, the assumptions that domestic violence still dominates in these ethnic communities have been confirmed. The average age of girls at the time of marriage is 16.47, and for men 18.39. According to this research, the youngest married couples are 12-year-old girls and 13-year-old boys. In addition to arranged minor marriages, which are a kind of violence against violence, other forms of violence (physical, sexual, emotional, economic, social, racial, child theft and child trafficking) have also been established. In some form, men's violence against women is present without exception. The causes of violence against women are numerous, starting with alcohol, drugs, gambling, poverty, jealousy, lack of education, and tradition. According to the respondents, poverty is not the main reason for violence against women, but the analysis of the results of the regression and correlation analysis show that poverty is highly correlated with alcohol, drugs and gambling. Jealousy as a reason for physical violence is very little represented. Women's attitudes towards violence particularly interesting and unexpected. As many as 26.3% of women support violence in all circumstances and violence in certain circumstances. Men were even more passionate, 40.9% of men believe that violence is acceptable in all circumstances and in certain circumstances. It is indicative and important to point out that 22.3% of women and 36.6% of men did not express their opinion on this issue. Women did not declare that they suffer violence because of fear of new violence, and men did not declare because of sanctions by the competent institutions. The main cause of poor mental health among minors, especially among girls, is early marriage, which interrupts natural biological growth and development. Numerous disruptive endogenous and exogenous factors generate violence up to murder, and the ultimate outcome of violence is chronically disturbed mental health.","PeriodicalId":93216,"journal":{"name":"MOJ sports medicine","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139217795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
